Can I get so more info on these serviced apartments. I'll be spenting five weeks in LOS at the end on the year. Even at $25/night at a hotel that's like 875.00USD! These apartments have to be cheaper?
Thanks,
Harry

I'm sure all serviced apts are guest friendly unless you bring back a total tramp or a friggin harem of trash that would embarrass the mgmt. After all it's your apartment and they are not going to tell you who you can have visit you.
HJ You are NEVER going to find a serviced apartment for $25 or even $50 per night. I think Omni on Soi Nana is about the cheapest serviced apt I know of.

How about the alta house they seem very reasonable with their prices. Any thoughts

Well. I just thought it would be cheaper to rent something for a month than day-by-day. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong? The other thing is, a month maybe to short for some landlords?

Never heard of the Alta House. Where is it and where are you getting your rate info ? If it's under $ 50 per night it's likely either not serviced or it's a dump. There are plenty of cheap apts in BKK most of them not very livable by farang standards.
HJ
Even the Omni which is on the lower end of the scale for serviced apts is 63,000 baht per month. I'll do the math for you-- $51 per night. It does save you $22 a night over the daily rate though.

Guys,
I have heard the Admiral Suites is good value at a daily rate of 1900TBH per night. This is for a studio but nice furniture & decor. I think it is around Soi23 Sukhumvit. Anyone else heard of this place?
I am planning a trip to BKK for the end of Sep. It's a bit posh but does anyone know if the Westin Grande Sukhumvit is guest friendly? Did it used to be caled the Sheraton Grande? Any info appreciated.
I'd love to grab a few beers with any fellow mongerers if any1 is in BKK from 28Sep - 01Oct. Please let me know.
Gr8 site BTW, excellent reports from Wallstreet, Khun Mor, Porker et al. I promise to post on my return to the land of Oz.
Cheers,
Busby

Busbybadboy.
The Westin is across the street from the Sheraton-- both guest friendly or at least tolerant.

Just checked out Admiral and alta house. Alta about the same rates as Omni for 1 bedroom - similar quality - looks like much longer walk to NEP. Admiral -- studios 1,700 baht for smallest but look really small. 1 bedroom just 200 baht more than Omni and looks nicer. Downside-- location - way out at Soi 22. Of course at least Baron's is close, as well as artist bars if you're into those. ( Not I ! ) I think for price AND location Omni is still hard to beat.
In my present incarnation though location is not everyting so I am checking out other locales. I believe I will forgoe Pres Solitaire this time. I'm booked into Ascott Sathorn apts-- Brand new and look great. Close to Patpong actually. Still has Skytrain station closer to it than PS does so it's all good.

I stayed at The Westin last time. No problems with guests. I paraded in several very obvious working girls and the door man always greeted us polity and held the door for us. But I don't know if I'll give it the 5 stars it claims. Don't get me wrong, it was very nice but IMO not up to the standard set by Sheraton Grande across the street where I stayed the previous trip. Maybe I'll give the Westin 4 1/2 stars. If you are interested in any of those hotels go to priceline.com and bid for a 5* hotel, Bangkok Sukhumvitt area. With those perimeters you will get one of three 5* hotels who have contracts with Priceline. The Westin, Sheraton Grande, or the Marriot. All are nice, all are well located and all are guest friendly. I got the Westin and the Marriot for $65 a night and the Sheraton for $85 a night.

I have stayed at the Admiral Suites and really enjoyed my time there. I normally like the President Solitaire but when I stay in Bangkok for an extended time (over two weeks) I like the Admiral Suites due to its price and quality (I think they will drop their posted prices a few hundred Bahts if you ask for a good deal). When I stay in Admiral Suites I was usually in the Deluxe Studio, a nice sized studio with a full sized refrigerator, small kitchen, sofa, stereo with DVD, and a large safe (most laptops will fit in this safe). The rooms are nicely decorated with a large bathroom (bathtub with separate shower). The rooms I have stayed in faced the parking lot so I had no problems with noise from the soi. The service I have received there has always been good, plus it is guest friendly. In fact the only time I was stopped by security was when I came back one night without a girlfriend for the even. There is a small coffee shop I liked going to which is next to the apartment - the food was cheap and they had free internet service for customers. I thought the food was okay - nothing special, but I have talked with other guys who did not like the food there at all. The big issue (which you guys hit on already) is the location. It is located fairly far down soi 22 (just past Imperial Queen's Park Hotel). Normal when I stay there I use the Phrom Phong BTS station to get around Bangkok - which is right next to the Emphorium Mall. To make the walk shorter I would walk through the Imperial Queen's Park hotel lobby. After walking through the lobby heading to the back of the hotel I would exit out the back - this exit goes into the Benjasiri Park. I was never stopped by the hotel security. Then I would walk through the park to the Emphoruim mall. Of course when I was done for the evening I would take a taxi back to the apartment (most taxis do not know where this place is, just tell them near Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel). Another interesting thing is that soi 22 actually has lots to see and do. There are several open air beer bars, many restaurants, some small bars/pubs, pool hall on the corner of Suk and soi 22 and many, many ladies. I spent several nights staying on soi 22 and had a great time. Of course it is nothing like Patpong, Nana or Cowboy - but some times it is nice to see something different. I will be leaving for the Middle East soon and when I get back I will spend three weeks in Bangkok and Phuket. I will stay at the Admiral Suites when in Bangkok. You can not beat the price vs quality (just be prepared to walk).
