I noticed Westin would cost 1/2 as much as the Sheraton, but no comments here on it. Anyone know to what extent this place is monger friendly?

No problems with ladies. Guest friendly. Not as nice as Sheraton though. I'll post a complete report with room pics from my last trip later tonight.

What are the Bhat prices on these rooms?

Somewhere around 5500 baht/d if you book straight up. When slow you may be able to pick at wholesalers for around 3000 baht/n.

In three visits to Bangkok I have stayed at three different 5* hotels. Those being the Marriott, the Sheraton, and the Westin. My last trip it was the Westin. I was very pleased with it but I have to admit the Sheraton beat it by a long shot and the Marriott was significantly better as well. This does not mean I was unhappy with it or there was anything wrong with it. It was great. Simply in the world of 5* Bangkok hotels it has some stiff competition. I think I would give it 4 1/2*'s if I was rating.

None the less I enjoyed my stay there very much and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. It was totally guest friendly. There is no easy way to bring them in without walking past the front desk but it was never the slightest problem and the staff was always very courteous to my guests. Location is ideal. About two blocks from Soi Cowboy, a reasonable walk or very cheap cab ride to Nana plaza and right near Asoke skytrain station. Robinson department store is right out front too.

In all, Sheraton was better but I was not disappointed with the Westin. Like all of my Bangkok hotels I got the room by bidding on priceline.com for a 5 star Bangkok hotel, Sukhumvit area. If you bid on priceline.com for those sets of perimeters you will either get the Marriott, the Sheraton, or the Westin. AFIK, these are the only three 5 star hotels in the area that maintain contracts with Priceline and all are well located, very nice and guest friendly. I got this room for $65 a night plus tax. Not as good a deal as the Marriott for $55 during the SARS scare or the nicer Sheraton for $85 in February but still a great deal in my book. IMO, priceline.com is the way to go if you are interested in any of these hotels. The Westin is the worst you will do and it is pretty damn good.
