Club Boom in Pattaya Thailand

If you go looking for Boom on your own, you will never find it. Boom is the name used by the locals. The sign out front says Club Ibiza but no one ever calls it by that name. This club has been a Pattaya mainstay for years. Regardless of the local or country laws that demand closings of 1am - 2am, Boom continues to operate until 6-7am.

Several years ago, the disco loving tourist crowd in Pattaya would party at the infamous Marine Disco on Walking Street until 4am. This is a huge disco with loud throbbing techno and literally hundreds of freelancers. No bar fine here. Just go up and ask a girl to dance or just smile at her. No need to even buy her a drink. Its as easy as saying "Where are you going?" The normal reply is "With You". The rate varies but normally 500 - 1000 baht is the norm.

The crowd would trudge down the street to Marine II in the Marine Plaza hotel until 6am and the few stragglers would end up in Boom which closed at noon. Fueled by "Ya-Ba" which means crazy medicine (methamphetimine) the party would never stop. The girls were the leftovers from the Marine Bars but often you will find gogo girls just finishing up a short time and looking for friends to party with or another customer. Its not unusual to see friends coming in at dawn.

The drug enforcement crackdown has cut out the open drug use formerly seen in Boom but you will still see the party animals. My last trip to Boom was in June. My good friend owns two of the hottest gogo bars in Thailand, The Dollhouse. I went to get drinks and when I came back, he pushed a girl who was dancing next to us into me and said "My friend is horny". Instead of being angry, the girl smiled and asked me if it was true. We danced and partied for an hour or so. I found out she was a gogo dancer from another club, Electric Blue. We ended up spending the night in my hotel room. If I had met her in the bar, I would have paid 500 baht for the bar fine and probably 2000 for the girl. Since I met her in a disco and we got to know each other and have fun, the whole thing only cost 1000 baht and 3 heinikens at 130 baht each.
