Does anyone living in Thailand have any advice? I'm middle aged, thinking of cashing in my house, and possibly living out my life in LOS.

I'll have some advice for you in about 6 months.

I'll also have some insight if I decide to settle down in thailand. It looks like my persistance about a lateral transfer to SEA is paying off
Now for the tough part, I gota chose a place to live. The only requirement is that it be near an international airport and has easy avaialably high speed data access for the masses (i.e. residential).
As of now, I'm leaning towards bangkok or Singapore. Bangkok is in the lead solely due to the fact it is a much cheaper city to live in.
I've got to finalize the deal and negotiate some misc items, but I should be settled in around 3-6 months (I got a decent sized house to unload and may wait until spring).

Singapore is great, but EXPENSIVE. Bangkok has some of the ugliest traffic I've ever seen, but condos and pussy are cheap.
I guess it breaks down to what kind of food do you prefer: Chinese or Thai?

Going out for Chinese while in Singapore is a treat and a wonderful diversion ... but, I always find myself being hungry again just a few hours later. I don't believe that anyone would argue with Thai take home being much more satisfying.

I love them both, but I think the best food in the world is found in Chengdu, PRC -- it's not even close.
