One thing that impressed me with BKK was how numerous and cheap taxis were. Travelled to quite a few places around town and I don't think I ever had a taxi far that was more than 100 Baht or so (about $2.50), except the trip to the airport. Most short jaunts are 50 Baht ($1.25) or less.
