I was in the USAF and stationed at the air base at this town way back in 1974! WOW! What memories I have as a young 19 y.o.! At that time I could have a beautiful young "pooying" for about $2 US all night. A big plate of delicious Thai fried rice, with any seafod I wanted, was 25 cents a plate.

There is an insane brothel area near GI 1960 bar, on the sidestreet sois (I forget the name of the main road--Ayduthasetj, or something like that).
This district seemed to be the closest thing to KM 11 in Cambodia that I have ever experienced (though I have never been to Cambo).
There are at least a dozen houses, all packed with young (some very young) Isaan/Lao girls, mostly with that squatter, stouter build (but not fat). This is not usually my preference, but the ladies were nonetheless attractive.
Here's the kicker: only 300 baht, for BBBJ, boom-boom, even some spontaneous DFK. Usually in such a low end environment the service sucks, but I went with 3 different girls in one night (regrettably I was only in Udon for one day--I almost changed my flight to sample some more of these brothel's wares, it was THAT good). Now, the action takes place in the girls' rooms, where they reside, and it varies from decent little rooms with attached (simple) hot water shower and commode, to third-world shanty with bucket full o' cold water. And you will see a cockroach or two. But I felt foolish for having paid 2100 baht earlier for a superstar massage girl at Udon Hotel, when I realized I could have mongered all day long here for the same money and comparable or better service.
This place could get real popular on this board if hombres start going. This is the place where Thais in Udon go to get laid. I highly recommend checking it out. It's even worth a trip to Udon just for the experience.

i stayed in udon for two nights just to go somewhere diffrent and i think its a kind of place you will either love or hate. there is not much to do in day time, there is only one or two bars to hang about at night and the bar girls are low quality compared to what you get in pattaya and phuket or the mother of the all BKK. the girls in soi 2 were not to my liking as i had to return them as i ( i am not a doctor) felt that they were somewhat sick ( they had blisters on their skin scarry) need less to say i stayed away from the soi and picked up the ugly bar girl who was clean enough. unless you are passing through udon i think its is not worth the trip just to see thai girls ...
limited range, but yes it is cheap but i guess you get what you pay for.
if you do go to udon however the aussie bar is a good place for a meal and mr tangs (tongs!?) bar is the place where the have beens of pattaya fish for expat farangs that have no idea whats about to hit them!
again i been there done that dont know if i be back to udon ...

I am sorry to hear that Udon is so badf now. I know that when I was there in the early 70's it was rocking. I was stationed at Ubon during this time and went to Udon a lot. I really liked Ubon as the girls were really geat looking and back in those days everything was dirt cheap and of course I did not make that much back then. I would like to go back there sometime in the future just to see what it is like now. I am returning to BKK after a year's break and hope to travel a little. I have done a lot of travel in thailand but never got back to Ubon.

i was back there again for a night couple of weeks ago ( i tend to use udon airport when i go to lao) anyway soi 2 was all shut down by police and not much else had changed.

There have been frequent police raids/busts at the local brothals. Be very careful!

Heading that way in a few days. I was there last summer and had a good quiet time. Very peaceful place as I escaped the Pattaya madness.

Well, it's more than a year later since the last post. I am heading for Udon Thani in October and would like to know if the nightlife is still that uninteresting."peaceful" is not really the word i am waiting for...... And how about hotels?

Back from Thailand and having spent a week in Udon Thani I can report that there still are some sizzles to be found. Across the street from the big Mall(Robinson etc) there's a series of bars with friendly girls. They look OK if you don't want Super A beauties, they are very willing and the three I spent short time with had unblemished sexy bodies and did allright, made all the necessary movements and one was even delicious, looked like a small variety of Cher in her better days, i thought she was at the most 15, but turned out to be 23 and have a child, like most of them do.
So if you have to go there, time is not wholly wasted in this respect.

Mambo disco (renamed Rhythm ?) in the Napalai Hotel.
Yellow Bird disco is in the Charoen Hotel. There is also a karaoke with hostesses.
If you are under 30 and “hansum man”, you will be fending the locals off at the Yellow Bird.

FL prices were 500-700bt short time and 1000-1500baht long time.

It’s worth noting, freelancers in Udon are mostly semi-pro and have day jobs or university classes. If you want a long time session you can expect she will need to leave your room early morning.

Just curious. Does Udon have any bar similar to the Eden Club in BKK?

(then again, it's been nearly 7 years since I've been to Eden. Not even sure it's still there. Man I've got stories.)

I would say 19 to 25.....it's been a while since you were in SEA. I'm here now and would say non of those girls are any where close to being under aged.

They sure have the fountain of youth there.

Given Asian girls tend to look younger, sometimes substantially younger, than their actual ages, it didn't even occur to me the girls in the picture above could be less than 18. I doubt very much they are.
