As it's getting lots of attention on the Island View thread...
Location? Amenities?

Here is an edited review I posted elswhere of my first stay here
-------
Batam Bird's reccomendation of Prima Asia was very timely as I did a short bombing run last night. I am interested in finding a good hotel in the 20-30 Sing price bracket for short one night trips.
Batam Bird's review was right on. The hotel was very clean, the service people friendly and helpful, and the big shower window (in the deluxe room) was quite fun. My date enjoyed the pressed fruit bowls I offered up. Location is very central, kitty corner to Femima Message.
The bed linens were clean but a little thread bare, definate 2*, while the two towels were surprising 3* quality. Nice touch you are brought a thermos of your choice of hot or cold water with drinking glasses and no problem sending up a bucket of ice either. For breakfast you call the front desk and they send up a two cups of coffee or tea with toast, butter and kaya. There was no fridge or lift. The TV only gets local channels. Also, the aircon was weak and took a awhile to cool down the room. The bathroom was clean, but the sink is very small and awkwardly placed underneath a shelf.
The price was 145K Rupiah (weekday price and I forgot to note the weekend rates.) Overall the hotel was quite clean and quiet but the state of the bed and furniture androom size doesn't make a room where you really want to spend a lot of time in it.
To be honest, I think it worth ponying up the extra Sin$11 to stay at the Island View Hotel. I am a guy that will spend a lot of time in hotel (even between rolls in the hay!) and at IVH you get a nice pool with steam room, a limited breakfast buffet, decent mattress, and a reasonably, albiet small, appointed room. So if I am going doing more than a simple overnight but want to stretch the budget, IVH will be my choice.
However, I would not hesitate to reommend or stay at Prima Asia. Next I think I will try and check out City View Hotel. Also, I would welcome any suggestions for alternatives to the Island View Hotel that also comes in at 40 Sing or lower a night.
