Built on top of Planet disco. I understand it's a bit more expensive than Island View next door, but the rooms are bigger and have internet access for laptops.

I have stayed many times at the Planet Holiday hotel but have stopped. Planet Holiday is housed in the tallest building in Sumatra (oooo impressive.) It tries to pass itself off as a 5* joint when I reality it is a dysfunctional 4* third world joint. I have stayed in the standard rooms for Sin$70 and deluxe rooms for Sin$80. The difference seems to be how high a floor you are on. Also, sometimes you get an OK bathroom with shower and tub basin and sometimes a great bathroom with a separate shower stall and bathtub.
The rooms are all decently sized and appointed. Nice 27" TV, king size beds are Asian sized, two sitting chairs with table, minibar fridge, and a desk. The rooms come with good high speed DSL. Also, the rooms generally have a small balcony which you can banish you little brown smoking machine too. All of this sounds great, but I swear every time I stay something is wrong with the room like the shower head won't actually adjust so that the water hits the tub basin! or the AC is fucked up, or a chair is broken. In all cases good luck getting it resolved. Also note there are no in room safes but there are 24 hour access security boxes at the front desk.
The hotel amenities are outstanding. The lobby is really attractive and comfortable if you can stand the always present Indonesian cloud of second hand smoke. The lobby has an extensive set of really attractive aquariums and there is even a glass enclosed elevator. Fancy!
I love the fourth floor pool area. Great ambiance with two huuuuuuge Jacuzzis, his and her wet and dry saunas, a nice locker room, a well equipped gym, and nice places to sit and enjoy overpriced drinks and foods. Unfortunately this place has become quite popular with the family crowd and the pool also seemed to be crowded with little people who probably show no resistance to the urination urge.
The main floor restaurant houses a very good extensive breakfast buffet included with your room. This room now offers a lunch and dinner buffet for 20K. This is actually one of the best deals in town. On the second floor there is a Korean restaurant and Indonesian restaurant. There is some kind of overpriced western restaurant and bar on the top floor which has panoramic views. Room service is just OK. Also, there is a little outdoor food court on the side of the hotel which serves the locals and disco patrons, but you are welcome too!
As for the entertainment options, there is a casino room on the fifth floor. This is actually quite nice relative to shitty dirty slot machine rooms around town. There is a total failure of a pub called "The Summit." Much like the summit of a remote mountain there's hardly anybody there. However, fear not as this hotel is the home to Planet Ozone disco.
When I first went to Batam, this disco was the place. It was easy to relax and it was crawling with hot free lancers. Staying in the hotel, it couldn't be more convienent to slip away several times in the night for some ST. However, the disco - especially on weekends - has turned into gangster paradise. Local Flores males have taken over the place and security doesn't give a rats ass. These males will be all over you and at best will pester you incessantly for drinks, money or pimp you drugs and heinous women. At worst, they will be up in your pockets ripping you off. This is not the place to wear shorts or other garments with easy to get into pockets. Also, these guys will harass the girls as well. In turn many of the girls and customers have moved to Pacific Disco which is infinitely more bule friendly. The bad news is that apparently many FL girls are migrating back to Planet "because the music is better" and leaving the Pacific selection down from the past. The more likely reason the girls are heading back is that the X is better and security doesn't hassle their local scum bag boyfriends.
Besides the deterioration of the Disco scene, I no longer go here because of the jerking around I have gotten from the hotel staff. For a while I was staying here every week, and then the last two times I stayed I asked for a standard room and was given a low floor small bathroom room. Then when I check out I was informed that it was a Deluxe room and I was given this because all of the standards were taken. That is BS. I was a really good steady customer and to be jerked around like that is unacceptable. So I have taken my business over to Melia. A much better more professionally run hotel.
A couple of more items. On the second floor is a good comfortable internet cafe. And on the side of the hotel there is a bank with ATM, a good travel agency, and a money changer. Also, I like that all the hotel taxis are Mercedes. 20K for a lift in one of these rides is alright with me! Location wise it is a five to ten minute walk to the NED and a fifteen minute walk to Centerpoint-Lucky Plaza shopping centers.

A friend mentioned that he emailed them about a 'corporate rate' and got a room for $81 SING (about 50 USD), which is just about the same as MongerX reported the Kaha rate to be a couple months back. All in all it's more convenient to book in advance and not have to pre-pay the entire stay like with Kaha.
