Tried a new place to stay I found on some travel boards. Cost is around 1700B per night. Not cheap, but it was a good experience.
Swiss Grottino Residence.

Make your reservations with Daniel Winkler at swissgrottino@yahoo.com for faster service.
Dan is a good dude and tries to make sure you have a good stay. Pool table and darts in the bar, decent food specials make it cozy.
You would never know there’s a hotel there from the outside. You check-in at the bar in the restaurant. Once you have a key card, there is a door outside to the right of the restaurant you can use to come and go as you please. The girls really liked the place and I liked the recessed lighting under the bed. Made for a nice effect… Laundry service was done on the premises as I went to the roof and found my clothes hanging on a line… Got it back same day… (Turn-in by 9am)
I liked the slick European styling of the big rooms, and it’s loaded with amenities complete with Broadband Internet! I just plugged in and I was online! (I have XP. The manager Daniel Winkler will set you up if you have a different OS)
I’d recommend a stay there if you don’t care if you have a pool or big fancy lobby. I kept hoping the maids would “turn down” more than the beds. The window has a sliding panel that blocks all light and most of the sound for you late sleepers. It is a short walk to Skytrain station or Soi Cowboy or Subway. Here’s a tip… when walking to Soi Cowboy instead of trying to cross Soi 20? And getting killed, take the escalator down to subway. Walk under the street, and take escalator back up! You come out maybe 20 yards from entrance to Soi Cowboy!

Stayed there for a week and would have to definitely lean towards not staying there again. The style of the rooms are definitely nice but the negatives definitely outweigh the positives.
1. The staff speaks very little english so if you have a problem and the manager is not around, it is hard to resolve a problem.
2. Electronic key does not always work and since there isn't 24 hr. staff, you're screwed if you are locked out. The security guard is on duty but between the hours of 1am and 6am, there isn't anybody around to rekey your card. This happened to me twice in one week.
3. Telephone system sucks and can't connect incoming calls to the rooms. Messages come a day later. Also the staff doesn't always pick up the phone even if it is the middle of the day.
4. Hot water runs out after five to ten minutes.
5. Construction is very loud on one side of the hotel and when the staff moved me to the other side, they didn't tell me about the delivery trucks for Robinson's start coming in early in the morning.
6. Since this is a very small hotel, things are not always done professionally and they lost my friend's reservation and said they were booked even though he showed them an email confirming his reservation.
We had three rooms and all of us ran into pretty much the same problems.
The positives were:
1. Close to soi cowboy and BTS station.
2. Room decor is above average for BKK.
3. Price is okay but Majestic Suites is a better bargain and so is Grand President to name a few.
