This is just a brief commentary likely to be useful only to locals or new mongers planning on being in BKK for a while:

While going up and down on On Nut (77th?, going north from Sukhumvit) I noticed several small bars with girls in them (scattered from 35th to 60th?).

I actually walked by one of them farther up and saw 3-4 girls sitting outside checking me out (not many farangs in the area...actually only me). Girls were 6ish. Would have check it out but was walking with a girl I had picked up at her apt.

I would think this area is mostly if not all locals but I think it deserves scrutiny if you are into fresh girls (I would guess a higher chance of finding FOBs here, cheaper prices and are in BKK for an extended period of time...NOT for NEWBIES! I imagine some thai would go a long way.

My next trip to LOS is not for another year and half =( but I plan on being there at least 5 weeks so I will investigate further but it would be nice if anyone else can comment.

Almost certainly bars for Thais only. Doubt you or any other farang would be welcome there. The girls were checking you out because they rarely see farang walking in that area I'm sure. IF you go back I would ask the girls about whether you would be OK before going in. Thai dudes can be very protective of their turf and seem to be increasingly pissed off at farang taking their pooying.
Yes I'm sure you would need more than rudimentary Thai even if you did get in. Hallo what u name, is likely to be only hallo there.

KM...the bad looks would probably be forthcoming, but that just may be part of the fun. I had an experience like that in Chiang Mai (report later) when I was looking for bars after closing time and found this out of the way disco...walked in and it was Thai only. I ordered a beer at the bar and while I did get some promising looks from the femmes the hommes did not look happy indeed....

In Chaing Mai they may just think you're lost and know no better. In BKK you may be toast.
