I am thinking $100 a day for sex based on prices posted here. 45 Bhat to the dollar, five times a day at $15-20.

Is $60 a night adequate for hotels? Sounds so based on numbers I have seen here. Is food cheap? Under $5 per meal from street restaraunts. How much does live monkey brain cost (where they bolt chango into a hole in the table and you pick his brain with your chopsticks).

So $700 for airfare, $100 a day for sex, $20 a day for food, $1,000 available reserve for shit happens, or too much fun? Realistic?

Just before I left last week the Baht was about 44/1USD. $60 USD should be plenty for a nice hotel except perhaps the Marriott. About 1,412.40 inclusive of taxes etc, at the Majestic Suites (32USD), has excellent location with a (very) short walk to NEP. Omni (huge rooms, quiet) 1873 Bht/d. One session (90 min/happy hours) at Edens with two girls will set you back about 100.00/USD. Short-time costs (BKK) minimum 1000 bht for the girl, barfine 200-500 (beerbar/Go-Go): drinks 65-120bht; Taxis 35-100 bht a pop (10bht for the baht buses in Pattaya).

In Pattaya you can get a servicable room ie bed, air-con, small fridge for 400bht a night (less than 10USD). I have a name/addy/phone if you are interested. Read my review about the Penthouse.

Bottom line: Of course you can have a good time in Thailand with a $100/d/girl budget. But don't expect a lot of 'stunners' or Go-Go girls on that figure. Your money will go a lot further in Pattaya than Bangkok so consider a trip there for part of your visit.

My own budget calls for 200-250/d, just for drinks, girls and incidentals. Food, I never pay any real attention but probably 5-10 USD/d, as I do eat from street-stalls and prefer Thai restaurants.

ST/LT I pay the girls what I think they are worth, non-performers definately get their salary cut and memorable experiences get rewarded. That's as specific as I'll get on this subject.

I always go over my "planned" budget b4 hand.

I usually overallow per day spending, and keep track on each days spending aginst my total budget.

seems I always have pleanty left for one last days/nights ( maybe into the next day) fun.

I fugure like this:

room ( lately I like to stay at the neptuna in patong bch)

$45 per day $315

food for myself and "friends" ( and sometimes friends friends too)

$60 per day ( $420)

drinks and snaks, bar stuff $120 per day. ($840)

girl(s) $200 day. ($1400)


minimual $$ for transportation ( once i get to patong beach/ phuket) walking is best.

but figure about $70 ( $70 for the whole time in phuket) for airport car both ways, and maybe a few trips to karon beach.

misc for trinkets, massages, goodies for the girls

$200 overall.

USUALLY if I'm lucky, I have 7 days on phuket.

a few days in bkk too, but can't get out much there because of "things"


Although this may seem like a lot, you only have to "put away" under $10 a day during the year planning for the trip.


I found ( from lots of trips) its way more fun not to have to worry about how much stuff costs, seems to show in your attitude, and you may get called
"flalang key nok" ( means forigner bird shit)

They are jerking your chain if they ask for more ! and dont believe the crap about them not being stunners thats rubbish - hit the scene early and get the picks take them to cheap eats and then do them over and over again pay for cheap breakfast and your a good guy.

Remember these girls usually sleep 4-5 per room and eat crap when their not with a falang so dont let them fool you into thinking they are pulling this kind of money all the time there not. For an extra trick tell them you live in Vietnam that way they wont see your USD and take you.

You're talking about girls from beer bars. Your prices are correct for them but there are very few lookers in the bunch..but if you spend all night looking, they are out there. Give a go go girl 500 baht for short time and she will laugh then get her motorbike bf to hunt you down.

EC, you will definitely have plenty of money. I'm still working on putting together my final economics comparison from my previous two trips, but here's some basics for Bangkok.

For hotel, it depends on where you stay. I stay at the Promenade and pay 800 baht a night ($18 using a 44 baht exchange rate).

Typical go-go girls go for 1000-1500 ST. That's $23-34. Freelancers in Angels and the Thermae are usually 1000. Barfines are usually 500 (@$11).

Massage parlors range from about 1800-3000 (or more) depending on where you go, but figure $40-$60 for a goodlooking girl at an MP.

I eat very well in Bangkok, and still only spend on average about $10-15 a day on food. If you plan on eating from street vendors, then you'll be spending nothing. Meals with them go for the 20-40 range usually. You're talking less than a buck.

And I agree with Blazers. You can get some girls for 500 baht, but there's no fucking way I would touch them. Moooooo.

Unfortunately, I cannot speak enough Thai to beg for my life. This is too bad, because in TJ, they get half up front and the other half when they're done earning it. If they don't earn it, their mamasan hears about it, and half the time she will credit me something towards another chica. This gives them incentive to perform. If they snicker at it, then they won't get the tip (my tips can equal the fee, if they go all out and earn it). Their loss. Next.

Best and highly recommended that mongers never simply give without consideration of performance. To do so will and only lessen the overall performance and quality and diminish the once known pleasing Thai experience!

It's no wonder that prices in Bkk have been ever so seemingly increasing. The ones to blame are those here along with the never ending often nowadays found multitudes of more stupid naive falangs that are being suckered into paying them.

I had no budget for my trip to Pattaya. I just brought some cash and an ATM card. I don't know how much I spent but it wasn't that much really. Probably less than $100 a day for everything. I did some very frivolous spending like taking a bar girl to the shooting range to shoot guns, but I gave the girls some pocket money to pay on my behalf for anything I needed and then let the girls bargain for everything I needed. I let them come out a hundred baht or so ahead on the pocket money but they probably saved me thousands of baht. They were often fairly aggressive bargainers. The biggest one was when I hired a speed boat to go to the island, the girls ganged up on the boat tout and he came down almost 800 Baht lower than the first price he threw at me (which I had walked away from because it was unreasonable) The girls I did this with took care of "our expense account" very responsibly and did not abuse the privilege although I met some girls I would not trust with more than 20 baht for a bus ride for the two of us back to the hotel. I rarely paid for anything though. It was like, I give girl money, girl pays vendor. It worked good for me.
