I want to extend my experience a little next time I go to BKK and hit Khao San Road for one night.

1. I'll need a hotel within 5 minutes of Gulliver's. Target price 800-1600 baht, with preference towards something newish and secure with a big bed (must have quality cotton sheets) and good shower. Preferably priced towards lower end of target scale.

Any ideas?

2. What should I pay for a taxi straight there from the airport?

There is an Airport bus from the aipropt directly to Khao San Road for 100 Baht. They leave about every 15 minutes. I took this once to pick up an airline ticket from a travel agent on Khao San Road. I walked in one end of the street and out the other. I was pretty unimpressed by the place and was happy to get out of there. Just my opinion.

What's going on along Khao San Road?

I have to claim ignorance. Others have reported here that there are lots of freelancers at Gullivers. On my brief visit to Khao San Road mostly the women I saw were a bunch of battle hardened Eurpoean backpacker chicks with dreadlocks growing from their armpits.

So you can get dreadlock armpit wigs there?

They weren't wigs them Euro backpacker chicks had growing in their armpits.

The headfull of braids look is also big with that crowd, so if you have fantasies about Bo Derek or Stevie Wonder...
Like chicks with bare midriffs and beer bellies? You'll be in heaven.
But I think you need the shaved-headed eunuch look to score with the non-pros. Full body graffiti (oo, Beckham!) and beer bottle permanently attached to the hand may also be a requirement.

Here a night time look at Khaosan Rd. Lots of street bars and vendors for the backpacker on a budget. Many unusual bars, restaurants and places to dance. Fun place to take a thai girl who likes to party and hang out.

Bahtman.....as a new member of this board, I have read a lot comments about your photography and I cannot help but notice how professional your shots are. Very nice!

However, after looking at these last two pictures...I just had the compliment you myself! The pictures almost carry you away.....as if you were able to freeze a moment of time....Incredible shots!

Ho Hum, I am so accustomed to Bahtman putting out vastly superior pictures that I am not easily impressed anymore. Of course, now almost everyone else's pics (particularly mine) suck in comparison. I am afraid Bahtman raises the bar to disgusting heights

What would undoubtedly impress me is seeing pics of Garotas that Bahtman has shot! Although I don't think that they are necessarily better looking than Thai girls, they are more photogenic IMHO.

Never been all that impressed with Kao San Rd, but there is a generation gap at work so do not take my word for it. Not sure I would stay there though.

Send a PM to Blazers .He is one of the fews guys here who has spent any amount of time there if I remember right. He picked up a few University girls there. Speaking Thai would help out greatly there IMO.
