Booked this place online for about1,200 baht. The place is located on Soi 23, right next to Soi Cowboy. The place is very nice and has great service and breakfast but they have a bad guest policy. They will charge you 500 baht for each guest. I lied and told them that my girlfriend was meeting me here..more on that later in my report.

Blazers,

Once again I am envious of you. I am spending the month of November in Asia ... but, November is a LONG way off. When you post your trip report please include some website info when you stumble into hotels and the like. I'm too lazy to do a search and look it up on my own.

Enjoy your trip / McDIJJ

Hi,
Is the guest policy still bad at this Hotel?
Hopefully management has gotten the message by now!

Thanks!

I have stayed at the tai pan at least 15 times in the last three years. I have NEVER been asked for a joiner fee ,even when taking two girls in and when I have only paid 950 online. Some of you guys must be unlucky or doing something wrong-peter

Same as Thai3 --- I've stayed in Taipan at least 80 times and NEVER had a problem ...

Perhaps Blazer you registered as a single ?

I always register as a double - and taking 5-6 girls back with me one time raised a smile but never a problem ...

Taipan is one of the best value for money places I've been fortunate to have discovered early on

True they have a lot of Polish tourists these days - many families as well

Low key - don't flaunt yourself making loads of noise and stuff and it's okay

Haven't stayed there but checked it last year.
Rooms are quite standard but clean. Good location cause close to soi cowboy. Try to book through travel agent, much better rate. Walk in is about 1000-1200 baht. Saw it at the net for about 895 baht.
Guest policy is a bit complicated. Talked to security, if you book a double and keep low profile they won't charge you, otherwise 500 baht for a guest.

I don't think i should go trough a roller coaster in order to get my girl to the room in this hotel. i'm the PAYING customer. at the first guest policy objection, i'd just get the HELL out and spend my money somewhere else, fortunately there are plenty of hotels in Bangkok. no sweat!!!

Stayed there many times, and never had a problem--until this past March '06! I booked a double and they still charged me 500 baht for each girl! Damn, 2500 extra for one night--lol! I won't be staying there again. But I'll miss that excellent buffet. It's hard to wake up for breakfast, but I love the convenience. Too bad.
