Despite daily chats w/AC gals, I'm proud to say that no AC bargirl has separated the green from my wallet...not yet. Not all my chat friends are schemers, but the few that are schemers, man-o-man, are they persistent. There must obviously be some "scam school" or scam handbook and many guys must be sending money.
The funny thing is, the different girls seem to recycle the same stories or tactics, and obviously it's no coincidence. They even had a name for it in a recent L.A. times story about Nigerian scams recently.
The "gorgeous person in trouble" scam, in which scammers in chat rooms and on Christian dating sites pose as beautiful American or Nigerian women, luring lonely men into Internet intimacy over weeks or months then asking them to send money to get them out of trouble.
Here are some tactics I've seen from the Phils.
1. Need money for medicine or hospital story (ADVANCED TECHNIQUE: bandage props and/or caretaker prop via webcam or have cousin send chat b/c galfriend is too sick);
2. Need money to pay landlord before imminent eviction (ADVANCED TECHNIQUE: pic attachment of official leave notice);
3. Need money to pay off other driver (or cop) involved in some type of accident;
4. Need money for school tuition or must drop out (ADVANCED TECHNIQUE: cellphone pic attachment;
5. Need money for airfare to visit sick mommy;
The "sick buffalo" story is old school.
So any other stories out there?
