Very smart, different type of designer rooms or villas at the back. Swimming pool on the roof. Excellent choice of food for breakfast in the restaurant. Key card controlled lifts but i had no problem taking in girls. I believe I am right in saying that the owner is the no. 1 massage parlour king so would be pretty hypocritical if there was a problem. I like it but fairly expensive.

Where is it exactly? How expensive?

It is on Sukhumvit soi 24. It is probably a kilometer or more into the soi. It is extremely close to the President Park. A friend of mine stayed there for a couple of nights and I visited the room. Absolutely top-notch. The Thai style room had a certain artistic quality that is absent in the big chains. It is owned by notorious local politician Chuwit...famed for razing Clinton Plaza, overnight and then appearing on campaign posters wielding a sledge hammer. He used to be a massage parlor king, but supposedly divested himself of those interests in order to go into politics. I could be wrong about the price of the Davis, but I believe my friend told me that the room was $80 U.S., per night, in late April of this year. Given the standard of the room, I thought this fair value, indeed.

Looks like their basic rooms are going for under $70/night. As Mano pointed out they are not close to much...

If you're in decent shape you can walk from there to Soi 33 or Soi Cowboy. That being said, it is a short cab ride to any of the entertainment areas. The neighborhood is actually nice. It features a very good Tops Market, an Au Bon Pain and a decent Japanese Restaurant. It is within walking distance from Sukhumvit, but you're talking a walk, if I remember correctly, of around 15 minutes. If the rooms are going for under $70, it really is a pretty good deal. They have an outstanding, if pricey, spa as well.

On my last trip to BKK, the airport taxi drove me past the Davis on the way to Sukhumvit Soi 22. It appeared very nice but seemed soooo darn far from the action...

This is the home website of the Davis Hotel and has more info than the Asia Hotel site.

I have never stayed there but it looks enticing .
The biggest problem is travelling Sukhumvit late night after the skytrain closes. I wish the Thai govt would extend the Skytrain hours to 3-4 AM !!

KM, as above, I've been in the Davis a couple of times, as a relative of mine stayed there. It is an extremely nice place. Not quite Peninsula/Oriental over-the-top nice, but really impressive and great value for money. Also, the location is actually pretty good. A 40-60 baht cab ride should get you to any nightlife area other than Patpong. Now, the fact that staying there means that you are further lining Chuwit's coffers may give one pause to reflect...
