I learned from my recent October HK trip to arrange accomodations for the entire stay in advance. I unknowingly scheduled my trip so that it coincided with a major conference, making rooms extremely hard to find and very expensive when found. Fortunately I had my first four days at a reasonable price of $100 USD at the YMCA Harbourview International. I looked all four days, and Noble was the best I could find for under $150 USD. I was guided to Noble by my Lonely Planet Guide Book.
The room was tiny. In the photo taken above, the door is just a couple feet behind me.
I've read that some guesthouses/hostels have curfews, but Noble didn't. However, this was only important because I would be coming in late, I wouldn't bring a girl back to a tiny room like this. It wasn't much smaller than some of the 141's, but it still would have been uncomfortable.
I was provided with 3 keys, one for the main hall, one for my room, and one for the lockable drawer inside the room. The door to the building was also locked, but that door required a code.
Besides being tiny, the room also smelled funny. I did not recognize the smell and didn't get used to it during the 3 days I stayed.
On the plus side, the location was very convenient. Many shops and restaurants were very near by. A MRT stop was just around the corner. Popular 141 buildings Hop Yee and Fuji were in walking distance. The only thing I didn't find was a nearby internet cafe. The price was an affordable 300 HKD/$39 USD (estimate from memory) per night for a room with private bath. Rooms with shared bath were less.
