THE BIG MANGO is a refreshing addition to the Nana Plaza bar scene. Located on floor 2 directly above Lucky Lukes it is also one of the latest additions to NEP. You simply take the escalator and then hang a right turn past the Mandarin/Silver Dragon touts. BTW I think the criticism about being pestered by touts is exaggerated. I just smile and they let me go my own way. Ran and owned by two young Americans I welcome bar owners who want to provide a good service. The Big Mango is an oasis amid the jungle, a true haven inside the mayhem and madness of Nana Plaza. A great "chill out" bar before you start your go-go bar hopping.

They have an excellent Happy Hour from 5-8pm, where beers and well drinks are only 60 baht. The burgers are great! Blackened grilled cheeseburger with fries and salad at Happy Hour is only 109 baht. Good panoramic view of Nana Plaza from their balcony. (Great for voyeurs and photographers). They have another level where you can shoot pool for only 10 baht. Pleasant chill out bar before you hit the go-go's. A few friendly hostesses who will play pool and no doubt other sports!

Limited menu but tasty. Had a chickenburger that was quite good here. Would be a great viewing area like Big Dogs but the roof on the bar below inhibits one's view of the entranceway into Nana.

Hi Walkingdude, what I like here is the cheeseburger. Burger fans must try it! The Big Mango also provide basic Thai meals at around 100 baht - chicken with cashew nuts is OK. Bosses want to expand the menu so I will remind them. BTW I like to look over the balcony and spy on the people in Big Dogs. It's a good observation post as you can see right into the bar from above.

I just want to drop a thank you to the guys at big mango. They made my cherry trip to BKK a great one. I ended up making Big Mango my base of operations. They have good music, good food, and a great friendly staff. Upstairs as mentioned they have a place to play pool, and just chill to take in the Nana scene. They have some good knowledge and you dont get pestered as is the case with other bars. I just want to give them two thumbs up for this safe haven and tell other hombres to stop by grab a bite to eat and say hello to them. I will be back in June!

THE BIG MANGO have now expanded their food and beverage menus. A new Blue Board includes a special meal of the week. Also, FREE "Wi-Fi" means you can surf the Internet too on a laptop at the bar. Friendly American Bosses who have good knowledge of Bangkok's nightlife.

Great food
And i barfined one of there girls

I got some stick for promoting Big Mango (usual bullshit for a high profile guy), but where can you get a good meal, view a quality plasma TV screen, check the Internet and have serene surroundings in Nana Plaza? If these critics can come up with a better option they should let us all know. Woodstock is history and The Big Mango has replaced it. I know several Club Hombre guys like Redbus, Goodlife, Fubarman, Jokerman, (to name but a few) that love this place.

THE BIG MANGO BAR are celebrating their first anniversary tonight - Friday, Sep 1st. Their generous "HAPPY HOUR" (all well drinks only 60 baht) will run all night long. Congratulations to Nick, Smitty & Jonas for running a great little chill out bar! I continue to check my emails on a laptop providing "FREE" Wi-Fi. I also still continue to enjoy my meals here before I enter the arena of "Bangkok Broadway" or Angelwitch Showtime!

I have to report that while I do like the food in The Big Mango the service can be terrible. The other night I waited over 30 minutes for a grilled chicken sandwich. Did the staff have to catch the chicken first? Sad to say this is not the first time this has happened and no apology from the management. Good food but I hope you have the patience of a Saint!

In stark contrast I went to Subway and my sandwich was ready in 2 minutes, not 32 minutes!

Big Mango Bar Bites The Dust!

The Big Mango in Nana Plaza are permanently closing their doors. Sad but true.

Hi Dav
Thats a pity, they made a descent burger, the owner seemed like a nice guy and I liked the free interenet wile you waited for yoyr food.

By Dave_the_rave on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 10:52 pm:  Edit

Nana Plaza has lost a good "Pits Stop" where you could get a cheap beer and a burger. We also lost the free Wi-Fi spot in Nana Plaza too. However, the Big Mango Bar intention to relocate in another location. All is not lost...

Big Mango Bar Bites The Dust! WTF?
~~~~ not a very good caption Dave ~~~
It was a lease problem not business problem that was encountered.. the greedy people wanted too much for the space so the guys walked.
They are looking for a new venue to set up shop. I always liked the place to hang before going out or after just before the afterhours started.
