Hi
I am heading to Thailand for the 1st time for the month of February 2006, i can't wait to experience some of the things i have been reading about on here (mainly the pussy)!
I have hotels / destinations booked for part of my trip. I have 12 days with no accommodation booked, so i can go where i want. I might stay in Ko Samui for a couple of nights, then Phuket and probably the last 4 nights in Bangkok.
I believe February is still peak seaseon?? Should i finalise my plans and book hotels (they might not be in the best location) or will i be able to go where i want and walk in to a hotel and get a room (not to pricey paid around 1200bht)?
I would greatly appreciate hearing from people that are there regularily.
Also is Phuket wotrth a visit??
Many thanks.
Pete

I think pre-booking is likely the route to go. Alot of hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya are filling quickly. If it's your first trip to Thailand, Phuket may be worth a visit. It sort of depends on your goals. I like Phuket. But it is, comparatively, over-priced. The beaches are nicer than Pattaya, but it takes a long time to get there and, again, everything is generally more expensive than in either Pattaya or Bangkok. Phuket does have some unique beer bar complexes, that are worth a look. The go-go scene, though, isn't anything to write home about, when compared to either Bangkok or Pattaya.
Manos.

i doubt you need to prebook, Feb is considered High season, but it is nowhere as busy as Dec and Jan. You best bet is to go to a travel agent (there are many, including the hotels. They can arrange bookings and often get you a discount. There is a travel agent in the Dynasty Inn on Soi 4 if you cant find one.
