It was fun to talk to you on ASPT tonight, as always.
Kinda funny tonight - we had two guys from here on ASPT at the same time, and they are BOTH in Thailand!!

Give us a good detailed trip report when you get back Pasathai. (earlier if you like ) I will be heading down there in January and want to know all the latest and greatest. I have fond memories of the place and am looking to add some new ones.
Have a GREAT time.

Has anyone been to Phuket recently? Do you have any recommendations for affordable hotels that are "guest friendly"?
By Hippie on Monday, January 28, 2002 - 08:02 pm: Edit |
Per the suggestion of Yujin in his trip report, I made reservations at the Orchid Residence Inn.
http://phuket-orchidresidence.com/
I actually got switched to the Swiss Villa Gardens across the street, which were not quite as nice, but at least they were 200 Baht cheaper and had a much larger shower than the Standard rooms at the Orchid. I would not hesitate to stay at either one again. They were a little bit pricey, but the location is excellent. I'll have more details soon when I get my report up. Every place we checked had rooms available, except for the ultra cheap (like $10 a night) ratholes, so you should have little trouble finding a place. Keep in mind that most of the action is on Soi Bangla, so you probably want to stay within a couple of blocks. Those blocks are bigger than they seem from looking at the maps, BTW. Most of the big resorts are way overpriced, too far from the action, and reportedly not guest friendly.

A friend of mine was in Phuket last weekend. He said the Shark Club has been closed down. This happened recently, as I was there 3 weeks ago. The story he got was that the police caught a couple getting it on right there in the bar, and used that as an excuse to close it down. Probably a couple of Australian tourists, based upon what I saw when I was there. I hope this is not permanent.
By 694me on Thursday, February 07, 2002 - 02:48 pm: Edit |
The story told me was that a competitor sent pictures of nude girls in the club to the Interior Minister who ordered the bar closed for good.
By Pasathai on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 10:58 am: Edit |
someone should make ( or fake) a pic of the interior mininter getting a bj ( or giving one)
about the same standard of whoever sent in the shark club pic.
bet the thai rak papers would publish it too.
By StrikeEagle on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 01:56 pm: Edit |
That would work!
I'm sure there are enough guys in the Hombre community who could easily work up that pic.

I found this on another website. It's too bad about the Shark Club. It was my favorite dance venue in Puket. I really enjoyed the place despite the fact that I got pickpocketed there:
PATONG: Kevin Radke, manager-shareholder of Patong's Shark Club, was expelled from Thailand on Friday and was told he will not be allowed back into the country, after authorities decided his activities on the island were in conflict with Thai morals.
Pol Col Apirak Hongtong, Superintendent of Phuket Immigration Police, told the Gazette that the police cancelled Mr Radke's visa on Friday.
Governor CEO Pongpayome Vasaputi ordered the Shark Club closed on January 30 after it was discovered that the operating license for the disco which can hold more than 1,500 revelers contained irregularities and had, in any case, expired. Gov Pongpayome said that it would not be renewed.
The check on the license followed the publication in Thai newspapers of photographs showing girls dancing topless in the club, and a game in which male customers knelt with their hands behind their backs, eating ice cream out of cups gripped between girls thighs.
Mr Radke could not be reached today, and on Saturday, Governor CEO Pongpayome Vasaputi declined to comment about Mr Radke's expulsion.
However, when asked why the Shark had been closed while other entertainment venues featuring nude shows, and places such as massage parlors, remained untouched, he said, We have the power to close such places whenever we wish. But we want to tackle the problem step by step.
By Hippie on Saturday, March 09, 2002 - 02:57 pm: Edit |
Damn damn damn damn damn. Sounds like 694me's info was pretty accurate. This was my favorite place for meeting girls in all of Phuket. I really feel for the guy. He ran a first rate club, and here he not only lost his business, he can't go back to the LOS. That really sucks. I never saw the game they referenced, or topless girls. I wonder if this had stopped before I went there, or if the whole thing was a set-up. I suspect the latter.

From the March 14, 2002 issue of the Phuket Gazette:
PATONG: Government officials checked the Shark Club last night after hearing a rumor that the venue, closed permanently on the orders of Governor CEO Pongpayome Vasaputi, was planning to reopen tomorrow night.
Chief of the Phuket Provincial Governor’s office Lertkiat Vongpuaphan visited the Shark Club in Patong to investigate the rumors, an officer in the Governor’s office told the Gazette.
“We could not look inside because officers have the right to check entertainment places only if they are open,” he said. “It seems the staff are preparing to reopen, but they can’t because they do not have a license.”
According to one former Shark Club staff member, who did not want to be named, a rumor has been circulating that the venue will reopen tomorrow night under the name “Lilly”.
Another man, who has been retained as a club employee, said he was not sure whether the Shark would reopen tomorrow night and could not be specific about whether the name would change.
Lawyers acting for the club have been pursuing legal avenues to overturn the closure order ever since the club was shut down on January 30. It was discovered that the operating license for the disco contained irregularities and had, in any case, expired.
Shark manager-shareholder Kevin Radke was also ordered to leave the country.
(It looks like the Governor is on a crusade against the Shark Club. I personally can't understand why. I found it no more outrageous than Tony's disco in Pattaya or Angel's at the Nana Hotel. I suspect it might be political or business related. The club was owned and managed by non-Thais and it was very popular with everyone. Perhaps the competition was too much for the other clubs and they bribed the Governor to shut it down. At least that's what I suspect.)

From the March 20, 2002, Rock Hard's website @ http://www.rockhardphuket.com/whatnew.html
Since the Phuket Topless ban went into effect Patong's go go biz has suffered. Customers have complained profusely, but no one complains more than the dancers! Some go gos like Valhalla & Sphinx have closed. Why are Bangkok's Soi Cowboy & Patpong back to normal and Phuket still smothered in subjective bullshit? We hope the situation will improve, but things look less than positive for the short run. What the fuck is a tittie bar without tits? You can see them on the beach, why not a bar? Booze, buddies & bitches are OK, but nuthin' beats nipples. Say your prayers... There's a few go gos open on Sea Dragon, including Pink Panther and a new one who's name escapes us, Flash is doing well considering, Extasy is open and Rock Hard / Smokin Joe continue to lead the pack.
(I guess I ain't returning back to Phuket! "What the fuck is a tittie bar without tits?" Nothing more to say!)

let me say that i, unfortunately, took out a lady boy from pink panther. as a result, i can't rate that one high on the list. i only like the one's that hire women - original women.

I made a trip to Phuket 3 months ago. We stayed at Patong, which is a really happening part of Phuket, whether night or day. During the day, we would just relax by the hotel where we stayed or by the beach. However, everywhere in Patong, there'd be massage parlours which were very cheap...you could get a nice two hour massage for about 200 baht ...you do the math in your own currency. Drinks in pubs and discos were also relatively cheap...about 500 bath to 800 baht.
Anyway, our nights were spent walking along the night markets, where one could get all sorts of stuff from fake branded t-shirts to fake watches. There are many pubs and nightclubs in Patong. Some are normal pubs with waitresses who are always willing to sit and chat with you and more.
While others would be agogo bars, where one can find topless women pole dancing or simply dancing. One could then chat up any of the dancers and see what transpires...
Overall, Patong is a great getaway for just the guys and even for a couple. It is really great and nice fun for all!!!

I liked the Phuket Towers. A little on the expesive side but very nice and the back of the hotel leads right to heaven two minutes walking distance to the strip of bars, where all the action is.
I loved Phuket. Mabey my favorite. Did thirty two chicks in 2.5 weeks.
Never a prblem bringing a chick back to the hotel
if she had ID and an "occassional tip to the gate guard.
You'll love it...

I've recommended the Holiday Inn on this board before but would suggest looking for something else now. I was in Phuket in June but stayed near Kata Beach on that trip. The gals that I met in Patong told me the Holiday Inn was a no go these days. Reportedly, there was some fight or something and that ended the guest friendly nature of the hotel. I've only stayed at the Holiday Inn in Patong so can't help with any other alternatives.

Recently returned from a weekend in Phuket, Thailand. An excellent place for both newbie and experienced gents alike. This is easy going, "asking for forgiveness is better than asking for permission", fun. Quite different than TJ in that the girls can be "schooled" depending on their experience level.
I stayed at Karon Beach ... a quiet part of the island on the southwest side, just an 80THB ($3.50) "tuk-tuk" ride away from the total crazy night club scene in Patong Beach. This quieter area is perfect for guys who want something a little laid back.
My walk down the main road (perpendicular to the beach, which is lined with outdoor seafood restaurants which are all superb and CHEAP) yielded several massage places.
I picked a simple place on the south side of the road called simply, in large red letters, MASSAGE. As is the custom here, the girls are mustered onto their seats behind a glass wall, where you, as the big westerner, are allowed to choose the lucky girl. The Mamasan attempts to guide you, but don't be led. It is best (as in TJ) to select the one not too eager, but also not to uninterested. Those who vie for your attention can be good, but at best 50/50. Those absolutely uninterested are losers, since most have been forced there by their families to earn dough.
My choice was an uncharacteristiclly volumptuous girl named "Dee". (they all have one syllable shortened first names). She gave me a full body massage (very good, traditional Thai), and then asked me in wonderfully innocent English: "you want special?" Who was I to deny her?
Because (I think) I said a few gracious Thai words, laughed with her, and complimented her 'endowments' -- AND WAS GENTLE ... she allowed me to hug and kiss her ... she sucked me (keeping clear of my one-eyed monster's actual eye, though) nicely ... and then we went at it for about 45 minutes in various positions. ... the damage? About $40 US for 90 Minutes -- and I probably paid a tad too much.
The next day, I had her again, this time I paid 3x and took her to my room (which, by the way, is majorly frowned upon -- but I was able to do it because she left her ID with the hotel desk). My hotel was probably 2 star -- anything like the JW Marriott and I doubt you can get the girl up in the room with you. Anyway, we had another fine session ... then she accompanied me shopping, sight-seeing, dinner, and back for another session.
Needless to say, it was not an easy thing to get back on my flight and go to work Monday morning in Singapore. Thai charm is unlike anything in the world... although I'm not giving up the Zona Norte, with its own 'charms'

big party on Bangla Road to open the peakseason. On this road are the most and best Gogobars and beerbars here.
The best gogos are Flash, Rock hard and Showgirls. There are many beautiful girls in every bar. The rate is 500 - 600 Baht barfine and for a shorttime 1500 - 2000 Baht and 2500 - 4000 Baht for the whole nihgt.
The girls in the beerbars are also beautiful and the barfine is 200 Baht and 1000 Baht for shorttime and 1500 Baht for longtime. Since all bars have to close at 2.00 in the night, there are hundreds of girls waiting for a costumer in front of the since january closed discothek Shark Club every night.
You have not to pay a barfine, but you don´t know if they are honest.

I am from the USA and visit Thailand (Bangkok and Phuket) every three months for 7-10 days at a time. Phuket is a fantastic beach resort one hour (flight time) south of Bangkok. Phuket visitors are a mix of international tourists: honeymoon couples families, single male travelers, and the occasional US Navy ship or two that pulls into port. Stay in or near Patong Beach on the southern west coast of the island about 45-60 min. drive from the airpot. Daytime is about sleeping or visting PiPi Island, Phang Na national park, scuba diving, jet skis or relaxing on the beach, etc. Most of the nightlife is concentrated on Soi Bangla (a street that runs perpendicular to the beach road). My favorite haunt was the famous Shark Club, a cavernous disco, that was shut down last year by the police (drugs and underage ladies). The Patong Beach streets are lined with hundreds of beer bars, each with theirr own set of attatched bar girls. Several Go-GO dance bars are sprinkled in the mix my with my favorite being the "Rock Hard".
Beer bars are cheapest for drinking (beers around 60-80 baht)US$1.50-$2.00 with bar fines around 200-300 Baht (1-us$ = 42 Baht, Nov.2002) Long time is about 1,000-1,500 baht with a bar girl. The beer bars are very casual with most gals in blue jeans.
The next step up in price and ladies are the Go-Go clubs. Beers about 80-100 baht with bar fine about 400-600 baht (low season/high season). The Go-Go ladies are dancing on stage (in bikini style outfits) so you get to inspect what you may barfine. All the gals have numbered buttons pinned on so you may identify them.
The scene at the discos is my favorite. Freelance gals are the word here. Tiger disco across Soi Bangla and down a bit from the closed Shark Club is the largest dance club in Patong Beach. Small cover charge to get in (around 200-300 baht) but includes a drink ticket or two. There are a few beer bars on the upper level before entering the club and the Tiger "greeting gals" dressed in tiger stripe outfits were very cute. Inside is a fair sized club with two levels. I stay downstairs mostly with many freelancers concentrating by the front bar on your left as you walk in and the first few rows of tables. Also many ladies in the rear area on your way to the bathrooms. Be prepared to have you butt pinched and be approached by some of the more agressive ones. Find one that you like and make eye contact. Buy her a drink or ask her to dance, or just start breaking the ice. After a while if the feeling is mutual negotiate short time or long time. The freelance prices can vary widely but tend to be on the Go-Go level or higher. Phuket is great place to enjoy the beach (white sand), sun and have a variety of nightlife options.

I am a frequent visitor, twice a year to Patong Beach. Great place for some fun and wild sex while in Asia. Has anyone ever rented an apartment instead of using a hotel. I have stayed at Patong Resort and they charge you in the evening to bring a girl to the hotel. It is a nice place and in the central of things. There has to be some furnished apartments there. It is amazing how many women are packed into such a small area.

I visited Patong about two years ago and had a great time I'm not sure if Kristins (I thinks thats how its spelled but you get the point) is still open but this was a huge Brothel run in the "fish Bowl" style. Sit have a drink as the girls sit on benches behind glass and choose your lady then go upstairs for a massage, shower, and more totaly awesome the cost is from 2000-2500 Baht. A must see and do when in Phuket !!!

I was in Phuket a couple of weeks ago. I live in a little town a few hours bus ride from Phuket. There is little in the way of western food and the movie theaters only show films dubbed into Thai (Chris Tucker dubbed into Thai is an absolute HOOT!) Anyways, I head into Phuket about once a month to see a movie or two and to get a little naughty.
The last time I went, I found a Great hotel; the C&N hotel on Rat-U-tit. It's pretty much kiddie corner from Star World Disco (see my next entry). The C&N has nice big rooms with aircon, ceatral hot water, and cable TV. They seem to get a lot of Italian visitors for some reason. They have a pick-up service, which I love. when you call then and book a room (600 baht a night) tell them when you'll be arriving and they'll send a car to pick you up for free. Since I usually leave after work on Friday, I get to Phuket around 9 or 10 pm, and it's fucking great to have a car waiting for you, and not have to deal with th fucking Tuk-tuk Mafia. They also have fucking AMAZING bathrooms - the marble countertop is set into the corner of the room with 3 mirrors set around it - perfect for setting up your little honey for a good visable shag. It;s not the Eden Club, but the mirrors are a great plus. All rooms have a balscony - I shagged one little honey out in the frsh air - we had he outside lights off and it was bright down on the street, so noone could see us - fucking great!
The songtaew busses (15 Baht) run right past the hotel if you want to travel into Phukey town

The Shark Disco closed a while ago, but recently re-opened as Star Wars - It was later changed to Star World - I suppose Skywalker and the boys took exception.... The last time I was there, the APEC crackdown was just starting. The discos usually stayed open until dawn, but on this weekend the cops came in and shut the place down at 2:30 on Friday and the Ugly Lights were on by 2 am on Saturday. Apparently there are some other discos around that were still open late, but I had a honey by closing on both nights, so didn't bother going further afield.
By Donde Estas El Donkey Show? on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 - 08:17 pm: Edit |
LAst time I was there, the APEC crackdown was in full force - the girls at the Rock Hard Agogo. usually clad in bikinis (or less!) were all wearing denim miniskirts and spaghetti strap tops - I talked to a coouple of the girls and they were pretty pissed off about it - "man no can see body, think maybe no beautiful - he no barfine here - he go get cheap girl at Star World or beer bar." Hopefully this crap won't go on for long - Hell, it's a shame Clinton wasn't coming instead of Bush - they'd probably have to instate a manditory nudity rule if ol' Bubba was in town.

I was in Pathong in June 2004, it was very quiet...which meant more girls to choose from! I was on 2 or 3 a day and paid 1000 baht for both short time and long time.
To aviod paying bar fines just wait until 2am when the bars close and get a girl off the street. I used to pick them up on the corner outside the ThaiPan club.
Avoid the beach at night, full of Ladyboys who are known to rob you!

Just got back from a long weekend in Patong Beach, Phuket. Spent a couple of nights exploring the gogo bar scene, rather than just the beer bars.
Soi Seadragon seems to have the biggest concentration of gogo's, although not on the same scale as Bangkok or Pattaya. Suzie Wong's and Crazy Girls at the far end of the soi have the same owner, and both have about a dozen OK girls gyrating happily. In Suzie Wongs there is a semi-show of producing baby frogs from the vagina, and shooting darts to burst balloons.
When SW's gets quiet, the girls then go across to Crazy Girls for the last couple of hours of the night. Crazy Girls is a more laid back place, with a pool table if the gyrating does not catch your eye.
Finally went into Uncle Charlie's, which is more of a gay gogo/ladyboy joint. Not quite my scene, but pretty good cabaret show none the less, with many of the ladyboys from the famous Simon Cabaret in the audience.
After beating a hasty retreat from Uncle Charlie's, finally found the best looking girls in Playschool in the same soi. Far more passion in the dancing and eye contact, and generally seemed more "into it" than in the other places, which, in my experience, is a crucial indicator for any after hours activities.
In all these places, drinks prices were about the same. About 120 Baht for bottled beer, 130 for small tequila slammer. No cover charge to get in. Short time with the ladies about 1000 Baht, long time 1500.

In Phuket last night(Wednesday) the bars were packed on Soi Bangla in Patong Beach. Easily a thousand bar girls and maybe 250 tourists or resident foreigners. The mongering is excellent. The beach is great as is the weather (90 degrees with little humidity cooling to 73 at night). Almost everything is open and fine. No beggars on the streets. Very little traffic. My only complaint is no topless at the go-go's and very few attractive dancers with great figures. Asia Air has internet tickets from Bangkok as low as $25 roundtrip with all taxes added in.

I went to Flash-a-Go-go. There is a nude lesbian oral sex show at midnight. The two lady participants lean back over the customers at the bar. It had about 20 customers at midnight on Thursday night. The rest of the dancers aren't even topless. Guys used to Pattaya will be almost bored in Phuket go-go bars. But the nearby beer bars are easy to meet goodlooking women in. Phuket is worth going to for the beaches alone. Nightlife is a bonus.

Motown, They are at that. I think it has something to do with the fact that they are all so tiny and vulnerable looking. They are NOT vulnerable of course, but it still evokes that feeling of protectorship in us.
A very difficult instinct to overcome, as it is one of the more basic instincts and we have been raised to believe that we have a manly obligation to fulfill it.
It is always nice to see a new poster.

2. dont buy them gold
3. dont send them money
4. ....dont remember the rest!

Hi folks.
Going to Thailand in September. FIRST time. Just read an artilce about Phuket in Aussie newpaper. It talked about the post-Tsunami problems: lack of tourists, hotels 20-30 % full and discounts galore. Has the sex trade been affected also EG have these prices been discounted also?!? I don't want to appear too stingy - but if there are less clients... shouldn't the deals/prices get better/lower??
What is a 'normal average' price for a really good looking girl - say 18-24 yrs - slim, nice b or c cup boobs?? How different for either freelancers, go-go girls or beer bars? I have read many posts - and I am still confused!
Finally.. is it true that if you pay a girl for long time and then you take her on a 2-3 day holiday - you only have to pay for her 'holiday' and you get all the sex thrown in?? Is this what is called having a 'girlfriend'?? Do you have to pay bar fines for the extra days - or is it just between you and the girl once she is out of the bar?
ADVISE PLease!!

It is the rainy season in Phuket now. Hotels offer big discounts on internet rates. I wouldn't recommend trolling for discounts with ladies anywhere. I never mention money or bargain and am rarely faced with anybody turning downcast the next day. It is quite easy to meet a hot chick and hard to get away from her. Most of them want to move into your room the second day just to get some steady action and restaurant meals.

If you take a working bargirl out of the bar for multiple days then yes you should pay her barfine for each day. If you do not she will be docked the daily barfine amount from her monthly salary for not coming to work.
While you do not have to pay them the LT rate per day . It is not necessarily " free sex ". Most girls expect some kind of lump sum cash donation at the end of your stay together. I think 1.000 baht per day -- for a go go girl , 500 baht per day for beer bar girl,is more than reasonable since you are paying all the expenses - she is getting multiple barfines and does not have to work at the bar dancing or whatever.
On occassions if the girl is totally into you and has a great time she will refuse the cash. I always put it in her purse anyway to keep it a working relationship and I know MOST of the girls need the money far more than I do.

Thanks doug and khun mor 4 advice! Waiting for others to write also!
I agree with you Khun about the money - even if she doesn't want it for some reason. After all, 1000 is only about $30 Aust dollars I think. Not too much to expecet to pay! Would you give 'freelancers' same sort of amount - or a bit less? Is it safer to take 'official' girls or is scouting out for freelancers (in the discos etc) quite safe?
By Doug555 on Saturday, July 02, 2005 - 08:32 am: Edit |
Scouting freelancers is not difficult or risky. Just keep your eyes and ears open in a dark and noisy disco to make sure that any very friendly, very busty girl who volunteers her great enthusiasm for oral sex actually is a girl. I don't think your natural radar would steer you wrong. Eddie Murphy once got stopped by the cops in Hollywood for giving a young lady a ride in his car. The police said she was a cross dresser, but you will be inside a disco with more time to read the vibes.

Peter
Remember that you will be paying ALL expenses during any extended trip with a girl. They rarely bring their own money - or much of it - although there are exceptions. So anything you give her is over and above all the expenses you have paid plus the daily barfine for a working girl.
For a freelancer there is no barfine involved , but many have steady jobs they cannot get away from on short notice. The exception would be the pro freelancer who does nothing else. She may require a bit more for " lost revenues " as she will not be getting her BF share each day. I would estimate 500-1000 per day depending on how hot you think she is and how much revenue she will lose . Many girls are rarely picked up on the street so they lose little and gain a lot if they go with you. Others can pull 2-3 dudes a day or night and may not even want to go due to money loss. There are no hard rules for any of this. You gotta go with your instincts and do what you think is best.

I was thinking about going to Phuket at the end of this october..what can I should the weather be like and should I be able to get a good discount for this time of the year??? Thanks, guys for your help
By Khun_mor on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 - 10:22 pm: Edit |
Thai hotel owners do not know the meaning of the word discount. You will pay low season rates until after the first week in November. Do not expect any other break in price. The city may be crawling with ghosts and have an 50 - 80 % vacancy rate but that does not mean the Thai's will lower prices- usually just the opposite.
The typhoon season should be winding down by October. There is no tsunami season however.

Just back from Phuket and thought I'd add a little info.
Paid 100.00 U.S. for a RT BKK/Phuket ticket on One Two Go airlines. This airline is sometimes called Orient Thai. Flew an MD 82. The service was good and on time. Paid 1400 BHT for RT transportation to my hotel on Patong beach. Booked the flight through July Travel which is opposite the Omni on Soi 4 in BKK. Very efficient travel service.
In Phuket, there was, it looked to me, at least a 7-1 ratio of girls to customers. There were many 9s, a few 10 tens and an awful lot of 7s, 8s and below. They can be found walking on Soi Bangla (aka Walking Street which is about in the center of Patong Beach) but the girls are prolific off of the many Sois (Is Sois the plural of Soi? sorry not to know.) including, probably the most prolific, Sea Dragon with it numerous beer bars and discos. The standard bar fine is 300 BHT and LT can be negotiated down to 2000 BHT without too much trouble. Happy Hunting.
P.S. Patong beach is a crowded tourist destination without any charm but, with a lot of girls.

My Thai language lesson for the day . There are no plural nouns in Thai.
You add modifiers to indicate numbers or more than one of anything so it would be just many soi. In Thai -- soi maak or yert

I had a weekend on Phuket in October and I have to say that I agree with you. Phuket gets rather put down on this board in comparison to Pattaya, mainly because it is more expensive. Whilst this is true, the price differential is less in low season, and as you say, there is a fantastic girl/customer ratio, and the bar girls there are HOT! I hope to be putting together a brief trip report on my Pattaya experiences soon, with some pics of the talent.

does anyone have a update on good hotels in patpong beach or close by? I am looking for medium priced hotel like Sabai Wing in pattaya. No joiner fee.
By Adanac on Monday, November 27, 2006 - 11:54 am: Edit |
Thara Patong is a good clean hotel that was always guest frendly but was sold and the new owners started charging 1000 baht. I was told they have now stoped charging a joiner fee but ask before you book. It is clean and in a good location. I am going in February and have booked Safari near Bangla Road and near the beach. Both hotels are good and cost about $80 per night.

Might be heading here for a few days on my next trip to paradise. Anyone have updates on decent hotels?
The information we have in Phuket is quite limited and old.

I have used the Royal Palm Hotel on two occasions and been very happy with their service. It is on the beach road, about 10 minutes walk south of Bangra Road, and near to several good massage places. Hotel is girl friendly, clean, but nothing special. Nice rooftop pool for lounging and late night fun. Rates are 1400 Baht low season so probably double that in peak.

Barfines tend to be in the 300-400 baht range for most bars off Bangra Road. Some bars have no barfine at all but these are hard to find. Girls still seem to have the 'up to you' attitude when it comes to payment, which is refreshing compared to BKK - where they try to hassle you for 3000 baht LT before you leave the bar. So in Patong, 2000 baht still seems to work OK for LT. Not sure what the ST rate is for a bar girl, but I assume 1000 should do the trick.
However, if you want great ST value for money, I recommend going to one of the many massage places. Go for one where the girls are not in uniform as these seem to have a more flexible approach. You pay 250-300 for a 1 hour oil massage after which you will invariably be asked if you want extras (you will - belive me). 500 baht tip is usually enough for 'everything'. I had some of my best ever sessions with a couple of girls from one of the massage places off Song Roy Pee Road, near to the Honey House hotel. The girls gave me the complete GFE treatment in the massage room and were angling for a date at the disco in the evening. I still have fantasies about those sessions 3 months after the event!
Enjoy!

Thanks Icarus - i'm suprised that Patong is still reasonably good value. I'll have to try out the massage places - sounds like fun!!! :-)

I was in Phuket back in October. I have to agree that the girl-guy ratio was at least 2-1 if not 3-1. Lots of girls dancing on top of the bars to get attention. Do watch out for lots of katoeys outside of the beer bars on Bangla Road after closing time.
By Wombat88 on Sunday, January 28, 2007 - 08:01 pm: Edit |
I was there for xmas 2006. Bar girls were more than happy with 2000THB. I normally aim for 1000THB, but was in a giving mood. The place has changed a lot since the wave. I can't say I like it nearly as much as I did before. Too many plastic chairs on the beach - yuck!

I'm going to Phuket next month with my wife and she's anxious to check out some P4P. Does anyone recommend places that have women who are friendly to married couples?
By Khun_mor on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 - 06:13 pm: Edit |
Don't think there's any one place to recommend. Just cruise the beer bars or discos and I'm sure you will find the bisexual girls you are seemingly seeking.
By Escobar073 on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 - 06:36 pm: Edit |
Thanks. We're looking for bisexual girls. The last time I was in Patong Beach, it seemed very much catered to male-only interest. Do the girls frown or look the other way when a woman enters or seems interested in them?
By Khun_mor on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 - 08:27 pm: Edit |
Of course the whole scene is geared up for a male customer base but there are more than a few bisexual or bi curious Thai girls . You have to seek them out a bit. Ask around -- especially the bar managers or "mamasans" . Let them know what you are interested in and they should be able to help you. Beware of the Kotoeys however.
As for looks as you enter - Don't take this wrong but your handle suggests a latinamerican ethnicity . The only reason I ask is if your girl is even lightly brown skinned she likely will get attention mostly as a rival. Thai girls however for some strange reason think farang girls i.e. " white girls" in general are very sexy . Go figure. A young sexy white girl at a beer bar will definitely draw attention.
Surprisingly I have found a whole lot more bisexual girls in the good ole strict Catholic Phillipines than I ever did in Thailand.
By Escobar073 on Thursday, March 15, 2007 - 12:29 am: Edit |
Thanks for the heads up. I am latino but my wife is mixed race and very fair skinned. She looks a lot more caucasian than brown. I hope they don't view her antagonistically.

Just returned from a weekend side-trip to Patong Beach. Pattaya is not renowned for being good value for money, compared to Phuket for example, but I was astounded by the latest rip-off. Since my last trip there in November, the authorities have institued a one way traffic flow in the two main roads in the town - very similar in fact to the setup in Pattaya. This works well enough and it is now much easier to cross the road. The flip-side is that the taxi fares have increased from a rip-off 100 Baht (to any destinaton in town) to an extortionalte 200 Baht. The drivers apparently justify it on the basis that they now have to go round in a circle to get to your destination, and the trip is therefore twice as long. Compare this with the 10 Baht standard fare in Pattaya!
I had very little succes in negotiating this down. The best I could achieve was 150 Baht. When I offered 100 Baht they were happy for me to walk away. I am OK with walking anywhere in Patong, but my barfine tought I was a cheap charlie not to fork out the 200 Baht to get her back to my hotel. Be warned!

Icarus, more economical to rent motobike 150b/24hrs than take taxis. imho phuket is overdeveloped, excessive tourism, beaches just avg, p4p girls not hot. but did see many hot young civilian/tourist asian girls.

I went in Phuket during the low season and had fun. My hotel was $21 a night for a decent hotel with a king size bed and my moped was cheap. I was with the same girl for a while so it didn't cost too much.
I though Bangkok was fun to see everything. I had fun seeing the red light districts and going out. Pattaya is a better value but I thought it could get old after a while.
If you have the time I would go to all three places.
