I'm planning my first trip to Thailand. I plan on being there for 7 weeks starting in January.Being a newbie, I was wondering if I could get some good advice on how to break up my stay. How many weeks or days in should I stay at each location? I am considering staying in Pattaya for 1 month? Is that too long? I know the night life goes off, but what about during the day? I'm 29 year old male looking to have a good time. Where will I find the hottest women?

By Redbus on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 07:50 am:  Edit

I dream of being in pattaya for 1 month.
Bangkok and pattaya is were get all the action is, Other places are just after thoughts,Its what your looking for, would you want to see the sights as well as mongering, Are you on a budget or do you have plenty of money,7 weeks you could get a round trip plane fare to phnom pehn cambodia for a week, [take a photograph for your visa.] Other than that dont fall in love with a bargirl, take metered taxis, and if a freelancer offers you free sex is because she will drug you and take your money whilst your deep in sleep

It's all about budget, Stevens. I think the hottest babes are in Bangkok, but you can pay dearly at the high-end soapies. For me, a side trip to Cambodia would be a must for a seven week trip. You can to to Penhm Penh and take the boat to Angkhor. That can be a nice ten day break for you (and the temples are amazing). If you're a beach guy, fly to Phuket for a week.

By Stevens on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 10:28 am:  Edit

Thanx for the advice...One motivating factor for staying in Pattaya for a month is that I'll get a huge discount at the hotel I'm staying at Bella Villa Prima. The price literally drops from 50 a night to 33 for a deluxe studio. So here's my thoughts so far:

5 days in Bangkok at the Majestic Grande hotel
@ $77 per night
30 days in Pattaya at the Bella Villa Prima
@ $33 (Deluxe Studio)
7 days in Phuket at the Tropica Bungalow
@ $45 per night
5 days in Bangkok at the Majestic Grande hotel
@ $77 per night

Do you think I'll get bored being in Pattaya for a whole month? Being 29 I'm relatively young, will I be able to find other Americans my own age to pal around with, or is there mostly older man? What is there to do in Pattaya during the day when you want a break from mongering? I noticed you can go jet skiing at 15 for 30 minutes. What else can I do?

BTW

My budget for this trip is $4000. Is that realistic for approx 7 weeks?

>when you want a break from mongering

A break from mongering? In Pattaya? Almost sounds like an oxymoron. And at 29, you're going to feel like the youngest person in Pattaya. (Wish I had the $$$ to go to Pattaya at 29. Oh boy!)

But seriously, there are travel agents all over the place. Walk around, look through their books with all the phamplets and stuff, see what interests you. If you've never scuba dived - maybe you could take a course and get certified. There are dive shops in Pattaya.

For a change of pace, you might also want to consider a week in Angeles City, Philippines. That place is a BLAST too. (If it's in the budget, I'd probably do that instead of Phuket.) Manila is only 3.5 hours from BKK by air. You can leave BKK in the morning and be partying in Angeles by dinner time. I'd limit the plan to a week there though - theres not much to do in AC except monger.

PS - If you're not a hard-core monger at heart (i.e. you're not hell bent on having different girls every day), and the budget is a concern, many gals will be happy to stay with you for an extended time (days or more). You can negotiate a considerably lower rate than what you would pay one night at a time. And once you find the right one, expect the sex to be not just GFE, but GF. Beware though - at 29 - she's gonna want to stay wit u forever.

PPS - In Bangkok, you may want to consider the Dynasty Inn Grande. Nice new rooms, close to the action, and $62/night.

By Phoenixguy on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 11:06 am:  Edit

RE budget - my typical burn rate is about $1500/week (that's for hotel, nookie, partying, eats). That DOES NOT include my airfare costs. But I tend to party like a rock star (i.e. barfine 2 or 3 gals and take them out drinking), sometimes keep 2 of the gals for the night. I'm also not the stingiest with ladies drinks. You can have fun much cheaper, but $571/week sounds iffy. And with that budget, I'd stay in cheaper hotels.

The man you need to talk to is our budget-minded (out of necessity) Mr Porker. Earth to Porker, come in Porker...advice needed on doing asia on the cheap.

By Stevens on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 01:05 pm:  Edit

Geesh, I thought Thailand was inexpensive. So you mean to tell me I need $1500 a week to have a good time? Thats $215 a day, yikes! I figured after paying for my hotel and airfare I would be good with around 100 a day (or less)spending money. I mean food, beer, and transpo all seems dirt cheap, so I guess I will need most of my money for the ladies. Can I get others opinion on this please? What are you guys averaging spending per day out of pocket (excluding hotel)in Bangkok, Pattaya, or Phuket?

BTW

My $4000 spending budget excludes hotel and airfair.

For a cheap short time bargirl in pattaya you can pay from $20, For a young attractive gogo dancer pay about $80,

By Phoenixguy on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 03:10 pm:  Edit

>you mean to tell me I need $1500 a week to have a good time

No, I'm just telling you what I spend. But that does include my hotel bill, which is typically about 1/3 of that. Beer and ladies drinks also probably cost me as much as, if not more than, barfines + tips. You will find that drinks (and ladies drinks) are not cheap in go-gos - they can add up quick. Beer bars would be cheaper.

Then again, I'm usually there for one week at a time, so I'm more interested in having a good time than pinching pennies. More budget-minded mongers may be able to advise you better on what the minimum you should expect to spend is.

By Stevens on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 03:21 pm:  Edit

Well Phoenixguy,

It sounds like you have one hell of a good time when you are there. If I was only going for a week or two I would probably wanna do the same. But, I know how quickly I can blow threw money, and to be honest with you, I'm a little concerned that I will end up going wayyyyyy over budget-- feeling like a 5 year old boy in Willie Wonka's Chocolate factory Can you recommend some good spots to find hot Thai ladies? I'm more interested in quality vs quantity (at least for now).

By Redbus on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 03:57 pm:  Edit

your question of finding a cheap hot thai lady,is to keep looking in bars in BKK and pattaya as there always a hot young lady there in the middle of the older hard core bargirls, usually when the new girls get of the bus from issan, they start in a bar until they realise they can make more money in a gogo bar

By Murasaki on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 06:29 pm:  Edit

$4000, excluding hotel, for 7 weeks will be more than sufficient to enjoy yourself. You can find some pretty cheap pooying in Pattaya, and even the top girls there are much cheaper than Bangkok. I have to disagree with Redbus's quote above. By no means am I an expert on Pattaya pricing, but I seriously doubt gogo dancers are going to be around 3000 baht.

I must warn you that you are likely to get AFO'd (All Fucked Out) over the course of seven weeks unless you break it up with some small trips, or settle in with one girl and travel with her. You may want to consider visiting some other countries, or exploring more of Thailand while you are there.

As for a decent, not fancy, hotel in Bangkok that is inexpensive, I always stay at the Promenade on Soi 8, my "home soi." Great location, very quiet (that's important to me), and prices range from 1000 - 1300 baht a night. I usually get the 1000 price because I stay for longish periods. It's close to the Nana BTS station, and of course, Lólita's!

Chok dee.

By Porker on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 07:00 pm:  Edit

100 bucks a day in Pattaya can certainly be done, but Murasaki, I don't think you're going to be banging multiple go go girls daily for that amount. While they may be a bit cheaper than bangkok girls (though I'd argue not much), you're still looking at a minimum of 1600 baht for SHORT TIME with them, and 1000+ more for long time. 3000 baht is not an unrealistic figure, especially when several places charge 1000 baht just for a barfine.

I usually spend 150+ bucks a day in Pattaya, including 20 or so a night for hotel, but a good bit of my budget spent anywhere on vacation is for my drinks, and, like most of us, I usually plan on doing multiple girls daily there.

I'd budget 1000 a week, myself, or, if needed, take a shorter vacation. I've run out of money on a trip before, and while it beat being broke back home, it's not an ideal way to spend a vacation. Neither is feeling that you have to limit yourself to freelancers, beer bars and soi 6 girls, especially on one's first trip, where you're gonna want to do things like soapies and threesomes that everybody should try at least once.

By Murasaki on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 07:23 pm:  Edit

Porker, let me get this straight. You just stated that, for Pattaya, many places are charging 1000 baht as a bar fine (even Bangkok doesn't charge that outside of Soi 33); minimum for SHORT TIME is 1600 baht; and to expect 2600 to 3000 baht for long time.

I admit it's been a while since I've been to Pattaya, however, those numbers are equal to or exceed Bangkok. What gives? Last I heard, Pattaya was still much cheaper than the big mango.

By Porker on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 07:40 pm:  Edit

Well, think about it logically: No self-respecting go go girl is gonna go short time for less than 1000 baht, barfines in go gos are ALL at least 600 (and 1000 baht is a growing scourge) and I doubt there are many that would be cutting you a deal for all night for only 500 more if they think they have ANY chance of getting another barfine that night. And like it or not, prices in Thailand tend to get set in increments of 500 baht, meaning that, yes, you're probably looking at 2600 baht for long time IF you can find a girl willing to go for 2000, something I'd bet is not super easy if you're looking for star caliber looks. I had several go go girls telling me long time was no deal at any price, actually, but my sample sizes weren't huge, and others may be far more charming.

I wouldn't consider any go go girls in either Bangkok or Pattaya an especially good 'bargain' compared to other SEA destinations.

By Porker on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 07:42 pm:  Edit

Oh, and these were prices I heard more than 18 mos. ago, the last time I was in Thailand.

By Mongerx on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 07:43 pm:  Edit

If I am reading this correctly, you have a 4k budget, are planning on spending 2K on hotels, and thus leaving yourself around $40 a day for all other expenses. You will basically be able to do one very low end short time a day and live on street food and party in beer bars in Pattaya. In Phuket will have to try and score freebies in discos from tourist girls. I am not sure what kind of action you will get in BKK, if you are a truly young looking and fit 29 year old you can score some freebies in the backpacker area.

If you want to make a mongering trip with that budget you need to really downsize on the hotels and cut phuket out. Also, realize you will be operating with one of the smallest bankrolls in town and that you will really need to shop downmarket. Perhaps you should make some side trips to places with even lower priced mongering options like Udon Thani, Cambodia, AC in PI, or Batam and Surabaya in AC. Or you may want to turn this into a mixed trip with some portions mongering and others budget touring.

Stevens -
I just returned from a 3 week trip in Thailand, I budget $100 a day ( not include air & hotel)
You may want 2 down size your hotels in Bangkok,
Just a few I have stayed, PM me for short term apartment info (1 month in pattaya)
If you stick to beer bars you should be ok, but go-go you will go over budget! Get your self a bike & cell phone most go-go girls will meet you after work .. I'm considered good looking but definitely not fit I never ever pay bar-fine. 200 bars 600 go-go. the rest is in your negotiating skills?
Thai food is cheap on the street!

Bangkok Hotels:
Dynasty (under construction)
Majestic Suites - 1250 baht
Nana - ( I never stay here)
DaNasty Grande (now around 2250 baht )

Pattaya Hotels
Lek - 500 baht (central)
Metro Apartments - 700 baht
Sunshine Hotel & Residences - 850 - 1000 baht
Sabai Inn/Sabai lodge - 1150 -1600 baht (north)
The Vault - 1100 baht (south)

By Stevens on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 10:16 pm:  Edit

Mongerx,

The 4k budget EXCLUDES hotel and airfare. My budget is approx 100 buck-a-roos a day. Keep in mind I'm going to be in Thailand 7 weeks. I doubt I'm going to out mongering every night of the week for 7 weeks straight. If that were the case, my liver would explode and my balls and dick would shrivel up and fall off from over use.

So, there is the slightest possibility that on some days of the week (off days) I might even spend only 40 dollars or so, right? Is that crazy thinking or what???

By Nastyworld on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 10:59 pm:  Edit

A few days on my 3 week trip I only spent 1500 baht,(1000 fun / 500 food and drink)! But on other days (gogo & disco) over 6000 baht.

1 day I only spent about 1500 baht,
110 baht LEK hotel breakfast buffet
100 baht Thai street vendor - chicken & rice
200 baht 1 HR Foot massage 180 + 20 tip
700 baht Lólita's BBBJ
300 baht Beer
40 baht taxi's baht bus

By Murasaki on Monday, November 13, 2006 - 06:26 pm:  Edit

P, ok, you're counting in barfine, I wasn't. Thus the difference. By the way, where are you hearing about these 1000 baht bar fines? I've only encountered them on Christmas and New Year's. I haven't heard of them becoming a regular charge at any gogo. If this is truly the case, then my gogo days in Thailand are truly over. The cost of simply getting the girl out of the bar in Thailand would be the same as banging the girl on site in Jakarta, among other comparisons that could be made.

Stevens, hotel aside, I've spent plenty of non-mongering days in Thailand where I spent less than $25.

By Khun_mor on Monday, November 13, 2006 - 08:50 pm:  Edit

I won't tell you how much I spend on an average day in Thailand as it would likely end tourism altogether. However I can say on a non mongering day if you eat at the street vendors as I do, and you're not an alchoholic, you can get by with far less than $25 a day - more like $10.

Actually I was unaware there WAS such a thing as a non mongering day in Thailand, but it's an interesting concept .

Nah -- not really !

By Mano_poderosa on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 - 12:13 am:  Edit

Occasionally a venue will inflate the barfine for showgirls. However, setting aside soi 33 and Titanium, I'm unaware of any venue in either Bangkok or Pattaya where the standard barfine is at or above 1000 baht. At almost all gogos the barfine is going to be either 500 or 600 baht, again, with the exception of those places that charge extra for the girls in the shows. I know that at Suzie Wong, on Cowboy, and at Hollywood Carousel, in Nana, the showgirls' barfine is exactly the same as that of a standard dancer. I can't really vouch for the barfines at any of the other show-bars.

Manos.

By Porker on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 - 04:55 am:  Edit

Murasaki, when I was there in March 2005, Polo on Walking St. was charging 1000 baht barfines, and two guys I was with actually paid it. Tahitian Queen also was reportedly charging that for the day shift girls. Other bars apparently charge 1000 for their 'show' girls.

By Laguy on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 - 09:17 am:  Edit

My recent limited experience at go-go's in Pattaya involved bar fines in the range of 500 or 600 baht and long-time payments on top of that in the range 1500 to 2000 baht, with 2000 seeming more standard. However, as noted these figures are based on a small number of experiences.

1000 baht at Tahitian Queen? Sweet jebus, given the standard of the women there, that's really taking the piss.

By Laguy on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 - 02:33 am:  Edit

One interesting thing I learned during my recent trip to Pattaya some of the soapies there, e.g., Sabai, have a fixed all-inclusive rate for taking the girls out long-time (but I wonder if a tip is expected on top of the all-inclusive rate). 4100 baht before 8 p.m., 3700 baht before 11 p.m., and 2700 baht after. The latter does not seem too unreasonable although I did not partake. An added wrinkle: a girl at Sabai told me those with blue number buttons were free to refuse a take-out offer whereas the rest of the girls were not.

The take-out rate contrasts with the 1 1/2 hour in-house soapy rate of 1600 baht, apparently with a one-shot limit. Unlike Bangkok though where slip and slides seem to be going the way of the dinosaur, it is standard operating procedure at the Pattaya soapies.

By Laguy on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 - 02:38 am:  Edit

NW:

As is often the case for me, my best experience in Pattaya was probably the Soi 6 girl you saw me with. The go-go girls I had were probably the worst (although not terrible), and the soapie girls somewhere in between.

OTOH, nothing I did in Pattaya compared with my string of Tulip girls in Bangkok. On this topic, if anyone out there knows of any places in Bangkok where the girls give as good sessions as at Tulips, please let me know. If I could find a few comparable places in Bangkok it could well alter my relative rankings of Bangkok and Brazil!

By Murasaki on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 - 06:20 pm:  Edit

Yeah, I'm making a beeline for Tulip as well upon my next arrival. It's been too long since Or has been acquainted with Murasaki Jr.

BTW, a one-shot limit in the soapies of Pattaya? Good god, what next. A stroke limit? "Sorry, mister, but you only get 50 strokes."

By Laguy on Thursday, November 16, 2006 - 04:36 am:  Edit

The stroke limit only applies to Tijuana. I hope I don't upset Murasaki Jr., but while he has been AWOL from Bangkok, LAguy Jr. has been enjoying Or, as well as three or four other Tulip girls. Hehe.

By Murasaki on Thursday, November 16, 2006 - 07:17 pm:  Edit

The little purple one doesn't get upset. He's all about sharing the good ones.

Who are the other girls by the way? Did you try Or's cousin?

By Laguy on Friday, November 17, 2006 - 12:12 am:  Edit

The two other girls I can recommend at Tulip are Wee and Teena. On one of the boards, Teena is referred to as the Tulip girl who gives the best GFE, and I can vouch for that assessment; among other things she "forced" me to come three times during our two-hour session, and then four times during an overnight romp at my hotel. Wee probably gives the most sensual massage I have ever had. On my most recent trip I experienced each both at Tulip and then at my hotel.

An interesting thing about Wee is I have been with her three times on this trip but I didn't recognize her from previous trips at all. During my third recent session she said that I had been with her a few years ago at Baron's, and described both when I was there (first one year, and then the next), and some other details of the visit to refresh my memory and convince me she was dot on. She now has long hair, but had short hair previously, which is probably the reason I did not initially recognize her.

I remember having the feeling on my previous visits a few years ago she might be a three-holer, but I didn't press it since I was in Thailand, where this is not so common, and thought I may have simply been picking up false signals. On this visit, the more experienced sophisticated me learned my previous suspicions were warranted.

I didn't try Or's cousin, Dao, yet; the one time I asked for her she was busy. I read somewhere though that while good she can be a bit overly professional. Those types of comments though are hard to evaluate given the YMMV principle.

I should probably try Or again as while I had a good session with her, it was not outstanding. She told me though she was sick that day and had been working something like 14 days straight (she didn't take her normal day off, Monday) and told me she would be much better next time. The next couple of visits she was busy and given the other options available I haven't gone out of my way to book her in advance. But perhaps I'll try her again soon. Incidentally, she told me she couldn't do the third hole, although it is unclear whether this reflected that she wasn't feeling well or that she now shares it only with Murasaki Jr., and then only on occassion.

I stayed at the Nana Hotel for $12 a night in 2001. I read a Dave the Rave post in 2005 that said it was $27. So figure maybe $30 a night now.

The nice thing is that it is walking distance or at least a short tuk tuk ride to Nana Plaza.

Although it felt like a boardering house, it was clean and very monger friendly.

Sniper - you could not have stayed in the Nana Hotel if you think it might have been a short tuk tuk ride or even "walking distance" to Nana Plaza.

It's right across the street !

About a 15 second walk. 30 seconds with bad traffic !

By Murasaki on Friday, November 17, 2006 - 07:09 pm:  Edit

LAG, how much were the all-night sessions in the hotel? What did you pay to Tulip, and what did you pay to the girl?

Or did tell me that she wasn't doing anal very much on my last visit, so I'm not that surprised to see that it's not at all now. I wonder what's up with her though. She is frequently sick; when I was there she missed several days of work due to sickness and even had to go to the doctor a few times.

By the way, Or's cousin is/was Litlei. I've never heard of Dao being her cousin also, but who knows?

By Laguy on Friday, November 17, 2006 - 08:03 pm:  Edit

Murasaki: I may have confused Dao for Litlei. For some reason I thought I remembered reading somewhere that Dao was Or's cousin.

I did two all-nighters with Tulip girls. With Teena I arrived at Tulip around 9:30 p.m. and was told it would cost $1,000 baht to take her out overnight and I would have to negotiate with her about her fee. When I then asked her (before paying the $1,000) how much she wanted for all night, she came back with $1,500 baht. Couldn't argue with that but I ended up, on my own initiative, giving her $2,000 the next morning when she left around 10 a.m. after somehow extracting four cums out of me over the course of the night.

I strongly suspect that if you get there much earlier than 9:30 or 10:00, the $1,000 baht "barfine" only gets you two hours. But because they close at midnight, if the girl stayed at Tulip rather than leave with you they would only be good for one two-hour session, which would net Tulip 800 baht (in addition to the 1500 charge paid directly to the girl). Unlike many such places, it sounds like Tulip uses rational economics to set their prices.

With Wee, I had a session with her during the daytime and asked about her coming to my hotel after work. She left it to me to name a price, and because there was no "barfine" involved, I said $2,500 baht, which she happily agreed to. She showed up as promised at my hotel, which was around four or five subway stops away from Tulip, around 12:30 a.m., and stayed until perhaps 9 or 10 a.m. I came only three times with her though. LOL

My best sense is the prices vary with the girl and YMMV. I suspect the prices I paid may have benefitted from the fact I had already sessioned with Wee and Teena onsite at Tulip and therefore they knew me. I'm not sure, for example, if I had walked off the street and she didn't know me Teena would have asked for only 1500 baht for the night. But who knows?

Murasaki,

You are right, I stayed at the Nana Thai Mansion, which is down the street. Or at least it was when I was there, it may be gone.

The place was clean but had a "Hostel Like" feel to it. Definately for the budget traveler but I saw no bugs, the floors were clean, the linens were clean, and there was even cable TV in English.

Nanatai (NanaSouth in Thai) Mansion
is still there and is definitely " walking distance " to NEP.

That clears up the confusion over the distance involved.

LAG, those are quite reasonable prices for girls who usually solid performers. Much better than what one may pay for the crap shoot out of some other venues. I am going to look into this!!!!

Hi Sniper,

Currently NANA HOTEL (opposite Nana Plaza) are charging 1,290 baht for a standard room. They just raised the price for high season. However their FREE breakfast coupon is a great deal. The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet is superb!

SHOWGIRL BARFINES - These are 1,000 baht during Showtime in some Show Bars but not in others. For Angelwitch it is essential to retain the Showgirls - being Show Bars they are the main asset. However, Showgirls are available at the regular BF price before or after Showtime.

NANATAI MANSION is located right down the other end of Soi Nana. The rooms and the food are nothing to write home about, but it may suit somebody who is on a budget. NANA HOTEL would be a much better choice IMO.

NANATAI MANSION do provide free transport as a Tuk-Tuk runs up and down Soi Nana all day long.
