Thailand seems to have a very strict ordinance about music in the bars and clubs. It seems they must turn the music up as loud as it will go and then turn the dial three more full turns. Bring and use ear plugs.

Archie29621,

What, you want to have a conversation with them? They can't speak English, remember? That's why they play those silly bar games with us. You have to focus all your senses on the girl, not the loud music!

Senses? I've taken leave of my senses. BTW, do you think the women of AC will view my new hearing aid as A) sexy B) a sign of old age C) I'm handicapped D) something to steal E) all of the above?

Come on Archie - you know those AC chicks dig old dudes. That's why you do so well there! LoL

I've been getting lots of emails from the WSG about what to do in AC. I'm really getting excited about that upcoming trip. Less than a month and counting!

One of the big problems that I definately notice is that all of the DJ's have no clue about good electornica music. If they're going to pump electronica/techno in the top go go bars, at least try to play something that wasn't made by some guy with a Commodore computer 30 years ago. Never once did I hear a track from the Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Moby or Fatboy Slim. An MP3 compilation disc cant cost more than 100 baht. It's as if these guys put in the same tape they used 20 years ago, then go in the back and start drinking Mehkong.

One of the songs that is played a lot is by a band named Blue and the song is called "All Rise". I really like the songs groove and It has that nice thick Dr. Dre style production. I went to go buy the CD and noticed that it was a boy band...yuck. Fooled me. I like the song and the CD is not bad...guilty pleasure.

Is that song still popular there? Man. They've been playing that for at least a year now. When I went to the music store in September I got a free interactive Blue CD or single or some damn thing like that. I ended up tossing it, but like you, I do enjoy the song.

I was sitting in a gogo and me thinks why the hell do i sit hearing this "rapp garage come shit" . the DJs only play the music they like.
So now on ill go to bars/gogo with 70s music or heavy metal.

Actually live bands in LOS seem to play music from the 1960/70 and rock.
