Thermae Coffee House

I have been to Thailand fifteen times, nine of those in the past three years and have seen all the main nightlife areas in the kingdom. I am a confirmed fan of Bangkok for nightlife activities, and of the Thermae in particular.

For those who have not been there it is a basement 'coffee shop' on sukhumvit road just before soi 15. Thermae has been on the present site for about six years, before that it was a few yards down the road towards soi 13.

Previous to the crackdown it was upen until 6 AM, now it closes at 2 AM, but does open earlier at 6 PM. Opinions differ as to the best time to go, little point before 10 as it does not start to fill up until after then, in the week it might not fill up much at all.

So what's so good about the thermae compared to other freelancer places such as the beergarden or discos? Personally I don't care for dark, noisy disco's and the beergarden is hot and cramped. Thermae has plenty of space to walk around and get a good view of what's on offer, it does get a bit too smokey at times but thats the only minus point.
When I go down I tend to concentrate on the girls on the left around the juke box area. The dragons are more likely to congregate on the right.When you see a girl you like don't waste time go up and say hello and take a while to see if she is drunk/drugged up/crazy. If she seems nice and you want to take her out comfirm long time if that is what you want, some girls cannot or will not do LT.

Rates still seem to be 1,000 baht although some girls will ask for 1500, I tend not to take out the ones who want to settle on a price, I just fix the time. I did pay more than 1,000 to some girls on my last trip as they were so outstanding, much better service and value than many a go go and bar beer girls.I don't always take a girl out of thermae, but it's always an entertaining place to visit and have a beer-or even a coffee if you can drink it! -thai3

The quality here is now extremely low. Better to go to Angel's Disco where the quality is much higher and the rates exactly the same.

It is dingy and smoky but the waitstaff are reliable and friendly and drink prices are not to inflated. Ex Carlsberg 80bt.

Most of the gals I take are from there.

Why? The girls are all freelances and do not have to go with you to meet a bar fine quota like gogo girls do. They tend to be a bit older which is a turn off to some but for me it is nice to have a girl who knows her own body and knows a man's body...Price----As the gals say, "Up to You" but I always find that 1000 baht is sufficient. You can find anything from a two- ten in the looks department. Of course we all have different tastes.....Attitude has been changing in Tmae as of late (much to my distress). The girls are not quite as friendly as they were a year ago but the bizz has changed with the crackdown. It is no fun for the girls to have the spector of a drug test hanging over their heads. There are fewer girls lately and as a result the competition for the "better" looking ones has increased....although my last visit (last Tuesday 25/2/03) there were many cuties hanging about.....

Best time to go. The end of the month as many "regular" gals come to make rent money.
I firmly believe that the # of girls and the talent level is cyclical.......we might be in a down cycle at the moment but just like the stock market it will come back....

Does anyone have some recent experience at Thermae. What is the current quality? How much are the girls quoting for LT?

As far as I know it is still about 1,000 to 1,500 for ST. Never do LT unless it is your regular Girl!

The current quality is the worst I've seen it in the 2.5 years that i've lived here. I went there 3 weeks ago and there wasn't one fuckable girl in the house. I recommend Soi 7 beer garden or the beer bars by NaNa plaza for freelance action better. Or CM2. Or Angel's Disco across the street from NEP.

I was there in October 2011. Talent looked ok to me. No real stunners but plenty doable.

I found the street in front of NEP to be trying. Lots of ladyboy fights and sometimes it was forieners getting the beatdown.

What the Thermae seems to be known for now, other than freelancers, is the line up of attractive young ladies.

They are found on the other side of the room near the service area as you come in, their rates seem to be 2500B to 3000B short time.

A lot of different nationalities are confused to whether they will go with them or not: the ones that do will keep eye contact with you the ones that don't will just turn the other way.

Opening time 7:30pm and closing is earlier between 11:00 and 12:00 and not 2am as first excellent post.

I've been through the Thermae several times the past few years, and even managed to convince one to go with me. The selection is good and vastly improved from days of yore. Unfortunately if you are not Japanese, you will experience a very high turn-down ratio. I got shot down so many times in there it was like being in China. YMM.

Went in here, I find the girls will go with both falang and Japanese men but there is a hard core of girls who will only go with Japanese Korean and Taiwan men.

These girls are Found next to the entrance of the stairs leading to the bathroom, they have, I would think I'm not an expert, the Japanese schoolgirl hair cut, look cute and the youngest are quickly snapped up. The youngest being 20 years I hope.

I've never seen the girls negotiate prices with Japanese guys but apparently the Japanese guys will put up three fingers as they walk past them to mean three thousand baht.

I can see why they prefer Asian guys. They overpay, shoot their loads in 2 minutes and leave, and have small dicks. The real costs to the girls are putting up with the endless posturing and bullshit prior to sealing the deal.

Still a very busy place, even stick mentioned it on his site. On another social site a monger said he was talking to a freelancer he knew when an Asian just walked up to her and said how much and took her away. Don't hang around these Asians the monger says.

From stickman ladyboys have never been allowed in the Thermae but they do linger outside,why so many, there are a lot of customers who do go with them so pop in for a drink then have a look outside.
