Thermae Coffee House
Thermae Coffee House is on N side of Sukhumvit between Soi 13 and Soi 15, slightly right/east of Clinton Plaza.

Large crowd of freelance ladies and potential clients gather out front after 2am. Almost impossible to miss location afterhours.

Short walk downstairs to actual establishment leads to crowded bar/coffee house. Lineup inside appeared generally older and less attractive. One or two decent ladies for my taste out of many.

Grace Hotel Coffee Shop
Grace Hotel located on E side of Soi 3 off Sukhumvit. If walking from Nana Plaza on Soi 4, go N across Sukhumvit and you are on Soi 3. Grace Hotel approximately .5 block N. Walk up dropoff ramp then downstairs from lobby to enter shops below to find Coffee Shop.

Grace CS much more crowded with much better lineup of freelancer ladies. Unfortunately, many more clients so best ones get occupied early. Many clients will spend a good deal of time with lady and may or may not take her. Also, being one of few places open to drink/party, a lot of regular tourists too. I was here until almost 6am and still many ladies looking for clients.

If the ape that was in Grace is reading this, please shave at least your arms preferably whole body, that is disgusting. Do not wear low cut tank tops again until you do.

Great report, Jceez. With the Interior Minister on the warpath closing everything down at 2pm this topic takes on new importance.

Have you guys noticed that many of the flights to Bangkok arrive really late at night? Most of the time I can only just get to the bars by 1:30 (if I'm lucky) on my arrival night. Can I wait one friggin day to get down to the nasty? Yes, but I don't want to. I find that a good session in bed works out all those kinks from a long trans-Pacific flight like no simple massage can.

I've heard that the Grace is really making a comeback since the Thermae started shutting down at 2am. On my first trip to Bangkok I strolled by and checked out Grace during the day. I had heard about how it was a popular old daytime and afterhours connection spot until the Arabs started dominating the place. My visit was well before 9/11 so I didn't have any reservations about seeing the place for my self. It was true that the only patrons I saw were middle-eastern and the ladies were not what I would call "attractive".

I'm curious to hear about how the place is shaping up now. Stickman posted something about it picking up there in one of his weekly reports recently.

I've only had 2 freelancers and I have to say that after 2 strikeouts I had enough. Both ladies looked fine all dressed up, but when we got back to the room I discovered horrendous stretch marks and scarring. Also, both of these ladies seemed pretty unstable emotionally. I felt unsure if I was going to get ripped off by them. When I choose a girl from a gogo, at least I know what kind of body she has and where I can go if she tries to rip me off.

Can any of you guys share some tips on finding good freelancers, or am I right in thinking that you just need a lot of luck?

Grace, from my converstations and observations is the only late-late place to pick up girls in Bkk (at least in the Nana area). Grace is not really that dark inside! I'd say the lighting is normal. I can't even say there are that many Arabs in there either as normally written. Why they don't have to close when Thermae does, is not truly understood. NEP was closing their doors promptly at 2am, actually 10 minutes before in some cases. Thermae, the old one, used to be quite an experience after 2am, always packed like a sardine can. The new one is okay, but lost some of the flavor of the old one. My Chinese/Canadian friend got two girls from Grace at 5am, one a Thai, the other a Lao, never paid them a cent for non-stop sex, but he did take them out for food and bought them minor gifts the next day. The Lao gal had it bad for my friend. She was very busty he said. She's tall, very white skinned, ears jutting out to the sides; Thai girl was short, half her hair was blonde, while the roots were now 8 inches long and black. They hang out together at Thermae too. as of Nov/Dec '01

How many gals are at the Grace prior to 2am? At the Thermae, if one arrives by 11:30, there are usually enough gals there to get some early pickings, plus avoid all the smoke.

This was my first trip to Bangkok in 4 years and I found enough nice looking free agents on Sukhomvit to keep me busy for a week. I don't even go into the go-go bars anymore. Who needs to hassle with loud music and bar fines. I usually stay in the Sukhomvit area and the outdoor food court at the Ambassador or across from the beer garden on Soi 7 are great places to meet ladies who are on the prowl.

I usually paid 500 baht for short time, 1000-1500 for an all-nighter, depending on the quality of the time. Thermae was jumping on the Saturday full moon of the Loi Kratong festival, but a few days later, it was mostly average lookers on a Tuesday night. I met a really fine, older (34) Scorpio who was right up my alley. She stayed til about noon and I was going to give her 1000, but she asked for another 500 and I willingly acceded. This was a woman, not a girl, which is the way I like it. I'm 50, and I'm not into the 18 year-old scene. That's why the free agent action is more my style. A lot of these women have their little jobs and only go out once a week to supplement their income. They only go with someone they like and are therefore more involved.

It seemed that there are more women than ever looking for guys. The street action on Sukhhomvit changed every night, as well. I rarely saw the same women twice. If you're into variety, you can have a field day.

Monday afternoon I went to Eden's, got a two hour oil massage, ate a fine meal and lay down on my hotel bed for a nap. Didn't wake up until 3am and couldn't get back to sleep. I went to 24hr Internet across from Dyanasty ... Nana Hotel parking lot and Taxi curb were full of girls "waiting for a taxi". Went to 24hr FoodLand off Sukumvite and was approached by many ladies and other things.
I decided to find some company and started to shop. My Radar Warning went off often but found a cute dancer by Nana at 4:30am. It seems she had not been bar fined that night and was exhasted and in bad need of money. After we did the deed she fell asleep in my bed until dawn. Gave her 1000 Baht and she seemed very grateful.

Phetchaburi 45

A freelancer I picked up at Q Bar took me to a club at Phetchaburi Rd. and Sukumvit Soi 45 after Q Bar closed at 2 am when I was there last month. I don't know if this is the name of the place, or simply the address, but she told the taxi driver to go to Phetchaburi 45 in thai, which she phonetically pronounced for me as "Pett-bley Ci-Ci-Ma". There was no sign at the place but at 2 am there were a lot of people arriving and going inside the non-descript storefront, up a stairway to a packed disco full of very hot ladies and a fair number of thai men, but also quite a few western guys. Pickups were clearly possible as there were a number of unattached women, and the place, I am told, didn't close until 9 am. It was a weekend night, so I don't know if it's open every night, nor do I know how they get around the 2 am closing hour (or if they are even legal to be open) but it was certainly a very popular after hours place.

Was this bar on Soi 45 Petchaburi or just called Petchaburi 45 ?? Can you remember. I am always looking for new bars to visit and would be very interested in where this one is. Da has never heard of it .

BTW Petchaburi 45 in Thai would be

Phetbooli see sip ha ---- phonetically.

By Sojourner on Wednesday, April 07, 2004 - 07:18 pm:  Edit

Khunmor, thanks for the refinement on the pronunciation. I got the girl who took me there to repeat it several times and I repeated it back to get it as close as possible, but it's good to get it a lot closer.

It's located at the intersection of Soi45 and Petchaburi, but if it had a sign, it was in Thai. I suspect there was no sign though. It looked like it might have been a store or a restaurant that's no longer in use that was taken over. I could find it again if I was at the intersection, but couldn't begin to describe it. However, when we went there at 2 AM on a weekend night, there were plenty of people going in, so if you're there after 11 pm, you could probably just look to see where the people are going. The place was jam-packed. If you do go, and can get more specific location description, it would be great for everyone, I know my directions are pretty sketchy. I'm going to be back in bkk later this month and I'll probably try to track it down again.

By the way, looks like Petchaburi 45 is shut down now by the authorities. Seems that they didn't approve of it operating without a license after hours.

That sucks !!-- I haven't even got back to LOS yet !!

Thakshit's Brown shirted Nazi's do not approve of much except lining their own pockets. If this was a primarily Thai oriented venue then someone did not pay fast enough or in large enough amounts. There are hundreds of Thai after hours clubs that operate with impunity and with common knowledge of the Thai Gestapo.

I'm actually not that wrapped up in the afterhours discussion - by 2 am, I am long ready to go to sleep. After all, there are things to do in the daytime in lovely Thailand.

By Khun_mor on Monday, August 09, 2004 - 02:24 am:  Edit

If you hang around with a Thai crowd, you learn to love the after hours scene. I cannot believe how Thai people can party until 4-5 AM and still go to work the next day, but they do. Back in the day discos and bars were open until 6 AM and they were packed until closing time !
The go-gos always closed at 2AM but most of the girls went straight to other discos to dance-- rather than just shuffle like they had done for the last 8 hours. There were even several right on Patpong that stayed open all night.
Now for some strange reason it all has to be undercover and on the sly.
Hopefully the early closings will be the ultimate downfall of Thakshit as no one likes to party all night like the Thai people.

By Sojourner on Monday, August 09, 2004 - 03:35 am:  Edit

Khun Mor, I can definitely agree with you on the Thai love of late nights. After clubbing with my current teerak and friends until 2 am, they invariably go out to eat and drink at a restaurant and then back to someone's room for more eating and drinking, card playing, video watching, or whatever. It's been an issue a few times when I've put my foot down and told her, we're going back to my room WITHOUT her friends. You have to admire their stamina though.

Are still Grace the place to pick up freelancers afterhour? and how long /late are they there?
I am woundering because I arrive 03,30 at the airport and wounder if there are any chance to make it???

By Khun_mor on Saturday, September 25, 2004 - 11:59 pm:  Edit

If you arrive at 3:30 you will not hit Soi 4 until about 4:30-5 AM. Not much action anywhere at that hour. Grace closes at 1-2 AM depending on the whim of the police at this time. Best post 2AM afterhours is all around Soi 4 and the Sukhumvit street scene. Aftr 4 AM would just plan on getting some sleep and getting ready for first day.

By Sweeex on Sunday, September 26, 2004 - 02:22 am:  Edit

Yes I think thatīs a good idea!To get a fresh start the first day,, I learned my lesson from the last tripp anyway,, DONt get involved with taxi drivers that will take you to this and that, tailors and gemīs factorys etc, much time loss then for me, time that could be spent better. Iīm planing an oil massage the first day, any suggestions? barons?

By Merlin on Sunday, September 26, 2004 - 05:04 pm:  Edit

Grace Hotel was closed last 2x I checked on 9/1/04 and 7/4/04. A taxi in front of NANA took me to a bar near Patpong at around 3 am; they had about 20 gals, wish I remembered the name.

By Khun_mor on Monday, September 27, 2004 - 12:54 am:  Edit

If you want an oil massage with quality extras you cannot beat Barons.
NEVER go anywhere a taxi or tuk tuk driver you do not know suggests. He is the only one who will be happy after you arrive.

By Sweeex on Monday, September 27, 2004 - 04:35 am:  Edit

Yes I know,, now!! Barons is it then, Iīll try that place.what are good bars to meet fellow mongers at? my last stay I cruised much alone, itīs ok , but fun to meet some new friens aswell!

By Bendejo on Monday, September 27, 2004 - 05:13 am:  Edit

Even when opened at 3am the Grace is empty except for a few grannies. The after hours scene has shifted to Sukhumvit sidewalk food and drink stalls, starting around Soi 5.

When are you there ?
The daytime beer bars around soi 4 -- Golden , Big Dogs, Morning Night are all great meeting places. Most guys are very friendly and willing to share info or plan hook up for evening of debauchery. I have met dudes from all over the world in those bars- mainly US, Aussies, Brits, and Germans though.

When I had stopped by the after hours club, Sin, near NEP last week, it had been shut down a few days earlier, apparently by the police because of drug activity (in Bangkok! what a shock!). Apparently someone didn't get paid off. In any event, it's not clear if and when it will reopen. On the other hand, I did come across another after hours disco, that at first looked iffy, but now I think may hold some real promise. About 2 weeks ago, I checked out Red Zone in Siam Square which is a new disco located on Siam Square Soi 6, which had opened about a week earlier. It's perhaps 100 feet down an alley from Siam Square Soi 6, the alley being directly accross from the east side entrance to Novatel Siam Square Hotel. As you go down the alley (you could literally find it by walking straight out of the Novatel east entrance), it's at the end of the first building on the left, and up one floor (they do have a sign out) and is itself composed of two floors. Both floors have a dance floor with seating around the edges, and the upper floor has glass in the floor so you can look down to the lower floor (or for those of you inclined towards voyeurism, looking up from the lower floor). The first time I was there it wasn't very crowded, and I wasn't sure if the place would take off, or if perhaps it was just too new. I think that was a Friday night around 2:30 am, so I wasn't going to hold my breath for this one. Then last night (Saturday night here), I stopped in around the same time at it was mobbed, although I never made it to the upper floor (it looked very busy as well). There were quite a few very attractive ladies present, but also a fair number of guys, still the ratio of guys to girls was pretty even, and I even saw a few stunners. I think a lot of people go there after the disco in Novatel (CM2) shuts down at 2 am, and continue to party, and from what I saw, this club had a similar patronage.

I think this points out something some guys that come to Bangkok forget or not understand, that these clubs come and go on a whim sometimes. What one guy may go in and see as very dull or not having many attractive women, another guy can go in and see a lot of ladies, many very doable. Sometimes it's differences in tastes, but often the clubs really can change that fast. Certainly this was the case for Red Zone during my two visits. I don't know if this place will be open tomorrow, let alone next week, and if it will still be a good place to visit or will suck, but my own view is, that it's still worth posting about these places, so at least everyone has the chance to make their own decision. In any event, I hope people will understand the limitations of any of the bar and club reviews seen in here! If I get the chance to check it out again, I'll post my observations, and see how the place fares.

Afterhours in BKK is spotty and closing times are all over the map. Since the last post in 2006 the AH scene had busted open there are different area's all over bangkok but you have to talk to a few locals or mongers on the ground to find out where to go.

The Suk area still has Spice Club on Soi 11 but since i was last there in Nov. the name changed.

There is also Boss, Bossy, Spicy, and Tunnel.

Please note taxis get paid 200-300 to take you to some of the clubs so tell them you want a free ride if you have a group of 2 or more.

I will be there next week and will try and update some info.

A stickman reader commented that freelancers are found in the whole length of soi 4 from Nana car park to woraburi I don't know if that an area or restaurant.

I noticed when I went to Nana hotel that freelancers weren't allowed inside, before I could network and have a drink and even bought a freelancer some food.
