hello.
been to my first trip to bangkok last march and had a blast!
planing on a new trip this june (end of month i guess) and need advise on where to stay.
last time i been there i stayed at the omni tower on soi 4, great location. while this can be an option for this trip i would like to try out a new place.
i narrowed it down to 2 places:
http://www.majesticsuites.com
or
http://www.grandpresident.com
one's a hotel, the other a serviced apartment and ofcourse there;s the omni option again.
what do you guys think suggest? it terms of money it's 300$ diffrence here or there.
btw, my trip will be for 30 days this time...
thanks.

I think you're better of with Majestic if those are your only two choices. GP is not worth the price. It's getting to be a dump. Omni is way better than GP.
If you want a really good serviced apt try President Solitaire. They have monthly rates that are not too bad for what you get.

thanks for the info, didn't realize gp is such crap, from what i see on their website it looks actually good but if you say omni is better i can understand that it's not really worth trying.
i checked President Solitaire, it is extra 15,000 baht, which is alot.
i think i better just try the omni again
thanks.

I would not go so far as to say it's crap. The rooms are older and for the amount you pay over Omni they are not that much better. Pres Solitaire is far superior and well worth it if it falls into your budget, especially if you are staying a month. It's much more like an apartment than the other places . I could not stand a living in a hotel room for a month but that's just me I guess.

>need advise on where to stay
Stay in Pattaya ? But seriously, if you've only been to Bangkok while in LOS - do head down and give Pattaya a try. Not only will your money go further, but to me it's just more fun - Soi 6 for afternoon fun, then off to Walking Street at night. And a thousand beer bars if that's your thing.
If you do stay in Bangkok, you may want to check out the Dynasty Grande. About the same walk from Nana as Omni. Certainly not as spacious as an Omni suite, but they're decent-sized, and nice. Just don't confuse Dynasty Inn and Dynasty Grande.

Dynasty Grande is a very good value for the price. The main fault for me is that the walls seem very thin between rooms so that you can easily hear television and conversations.

i read about the dynasty grande before and well, that thin wall issue is what turned me off it.
as for pataya, i do plan a weekend there atleast once and if i like it next trip i'll stay there longer.
i will look further into other places in the nana 4 area to stay in, simply too many options and too many opinions

I stayed many times in the past in Pattaya at the Marriott. It's location is great, but has become too pricy for me. The last couple of years I've stayed at the Dynasty Inn. It is pretty new, fairly quiet, and a really good value. The buffet across the road at the Lek Hotel is a great way to start the day (food wise).

you mean the Dynasty Inn in bangkok, right? it's an hotel and not sure i want to stay at a hotel room for 30 days, i know a serviced appartment studio i will take isn't that bigger in size but it does have a diffrent feel..

I'd advise the Omni, President Solitaire or Dynasty Grande over either Majestic Suites or Grand President, just think they are nicer, cleaner rooms over all.

another place i found at really good price is http://www.bctbkk.com ,anyone stayed there in the past?

Conex
Bright City Tower ?
Never been inside but have walked past it numerous times on way to Pres Solitaire. Looked like a dump from the outside but could be nice inside. You never know in BKK. Beware of internet pictures of rooms however. They rarely have rooms that look much like the pics. Have been burned many times in past before I settled down in PS.
For the rates - the rooms look very good - probably too good.

yeah i guess your right ;)
i think it's omni for me once more... this time i'll have a look on places to stay for my next trip...

Excellent idea. Go with the option you know and trust . At least you know what you are getting . Especially if you are commiting a one month payment. Would suck to be out 31,000 baht for a room you could not live in.
Check out other places in your pussy down time for future reference.

In Nana area I stay at Majestic Suites. I found it excellent Very Guest Friendly. Around Corner from Nana. Close to the Transit. Check the Website for current price as Last year I didn't stay there as my friend wanted to stay in the Patpong Area.

didn't go into this post for a long time.
just wanted to tell you i ended up being at the grand president after all for 1 month.
first day i came , couldn't sleep at night cause there are huge bird cages in the nearby ambasador hotel. in the morning i asked to change rooms for that reason and so i did. next room (studio btw) had the same damn problem.
told them i'm willing to upgrade to a bigger room if that would solve the problem (diffrent building side) and so i did. moved to a 1 bed room "suite" ... still heard the damn birds but it was ok, not as noisy.. went for an afternoon fun, came back at around 16:30 when the rain started, layed on the bed trying to build strength for some night time action but....
started hearing alot of water falling down next to me, checked the main window in the room and saw alot of water coming in, checked the other 2 windows and same story, all dripping water into the room. called house keeping and after an hour they told me they have to move me ... so now i got into the 4th room (in 5 days time).
they moved me into tower 2 top floor . room looked like crap compared to tower 1 , mainly the wall paper in the living room was all warn down, and also room seemed abit smaller. was pissed abit about this for a short time ,but the big thing that made me happy was that it finally was quiet, no annoying birds at 05:30 waking me up,haha.
from talking to other guests i saw alot of ppl complain about the birds and that they move guests from room to room all the time in this place.
this place could be amazing if it wasn't for the damn parrots. overall been there for a month , first week was terrible but than rest of the 3 weeks were great. love the location (really easy walk to the skytrain and nep).
would be glad to stay there again if they fix that noise problem, so anyone thinking about staying there, check and see if this was fixed.
