My wife is from the Philippines and I have been there numerous times including living there for six months (Makati) and have traveled to Angeles City, Puerto Galera, Cebu, and Mindanao. I was there in Makati a couple weeks prior to the September 11 fiasco. I can say that Burgos St is dead. No customers or punters but that means girls are available. I tried the massage parlors when I was there as the Philippines is not known for the massage parlors. You can usually tell it is "non-traditional massage" by the sign "Health Club" (there are numerous scattered around Manila, mostly frequented by Japanese, Korean, Chinese). I always imagine stairsteppers and weight machines in the sense of health clubs in the US. Be careful and selective in choosing as when I was living there, I tried one in Manduluyong and paid 500 pesos without getting to choose the attendent and got hooked up with a hideous looking filipina. After ten minutes, I cut my losses and left. But, I digress. So, I checked out one of these so called "Health Clubs". The one I went to was called Imperial on Makati Avenue right down the way from the City Garden Hotel. It doesn't open until 2pm or something. (Filipino time) So I walk in, lights are low, nice interior, bar with drinks and a little fishbowl that is darkened over??? Go up to the attendent and ask for a room that is quoted on the wall: standard 1000 pesos ($20) VIP 1500 pesos ($30) I choose standard. Then a button is pressed and a screen goes up to reveal about 10 girls sitting real quietly in nice outfits in the fishbowl. Not a lot to choose from but there were some real cute girls. Also, what I liked, was they sat there and were real quiet and still. I have been to other fishbowls where the staff presses a buzzer and the girls in the fishbowl wakeup or run in and press their face against the glass to see who the customer is, rather discombobulated. But this venue was organized. So, I choose a rather well endowed cute filipina. We go to the room, rather nice, separated bathroom. She gave a pretty good massage, popped my fingers and toes ( I love that ). So it ends and she gives me a look. I ask about extra service and she responds, "How do you know about that here?" I laugh and we agree on price of 3000 pesos!!! I kind of balked at the price as it was high. But she seemed nice and said ok. (Remember this is Makati not Angeles City) She screwed my brains out and her tits were so nice. It was definitely one of the best screws I have had. Top ten easily. And she did that squat trick all these asian women know how to do. God I love that. She had the biggest natural tits on a filipina I have ever seen. I went back the next day for seconds!!

Best advise would be to use cabs or private drivers when traveling around town. If you hear any shooting grab a girl and head for the hotel. Make sure you have a fully stocked minibar and plenty of condoms.

I am an Australian who spent 2 years living in Manila. My favourate place to meet beutiful young ladies would have to be the complex in Pasay. It is a collection of about 6 main bars that open onto a central area. You litterally have hundreds of horney young girls throwing themselves at you. The part about this place is the convenience of being able to do a bar crawl without having to set foot on the street. Bar find prices are only around 750 peso which extremely reasonable for manila and you have a very good selection to choose from. All the girls are extremely friendly and fun to spend time with (both in and out of the sack). This place by far offers the best value for money, sure you could go to Makati but you wind up paying twice as much for the same quality of girl.

Stuart, that place is known as the EDSA Complex, in case you didn't know. Although the barfine is 750 you'll still have to pay about 1500 LT to the girl later, which is much more than one would pay in Angeles City. IMHO, the quality of women in EDSA are the same as in AC, but 1250 cheaper since in AC you just pay 1000 total.

I plan to visit Manila/Makati this late May/early June. Any current info on Manila/Makati would be greatly appreciated. Some questions I have are:

1. ATM - Easy accessibility? Does it have better exchange rate than cash? What is the max limit?
2. Hotel - I'm looking at staying in Makati. City Garden, Citadel, and Oxford Suites were recommended by WSA boards.
3. Shopping - Where is good place to buy some quality clothing?
4. Entertainment Venues - Current hot spots?

I've visited AC number of times but never Manila/Makati. There have been mixed reviews and I plan to experience it for myself and reach my own conclusion. Thanks in advance.

5/25/03 - Makati

Arrived in Manila via Asiana Airlines. Good service and cute stewardesses. Layover in Inchon for few hours. Inchon Terminal was quite modern. Landing in Manila was a bit shaky due to a bad weather. Baggage claim experience was unnerving. I was starting to wonder if my baggage will ever show up. Baggage claim took an hour.

Changed 100 USD at the airport currency exchange near the ATMs (52.35). Later I noticed that the exchange booth on the other end had a slightly better rate (52.45). Asked what is the maximum pesos I can withdraw and was informed P2000 from the currency exchange but I was able to withdraw P5000. Bought a business class ticket to Cebu from Cebu Pacific, P3149. Cancelled my ticket after over an hour wait for the shuttle and took a taxi to City Garden Hotel in Makati. I’ve applied for City Perks Privileges & Rewards via City Garden Hotel’s website for P500 membership fee for two years. Paid when I checked in and was issued a Rewards booklet and I used it to get a nice room for P1900 nett. I recommend this route and if you consider checking in the City Garden Hotel Suites or Lotus Garden Hotel.

By this time I was feeling a major jetlag but was determined to check out the P. Burgoz bars. Only few bars were opened around 4PM and the talents were not what I expected. I ended up in Mogambo around 5 PM and the atmosphere was very friendly. One of the girl offered to play connect 4. She advised me if I lose I should buy her a drink. I asked her what she’ll do for me if she loses and she said she’ll show me her boobs. She’s not a looker but had a nice body was very sweet. We played the game and she lost. Later I found out she’s only been in the bar for couple of months, figures. Very nice boobs indeed. Having been disappointed by quality of girls in P. Burgoz yesterday, perhaps I was too early (4-6 PM), I decided to try EDSA for the first time. Cab fair was under P80 from the hotel. Arrived at EDSA around 7 PM. Walked into Casino and walked right back out. I was immediately greeted by a door girl from the Cotton Club. Walked in and ordered a mango juice. I was approached by couple of go-go girls. Heavy pressure for lady’s drinks by a waitress but didn’t buy any. Mamasan was willing to give discounted barfine due to lack of business, P750 instead of P1000. Chit chatted for 30-40 minutes or so with the girls and moved to My Fair. Selection was not so impressive. Finished by mango juice and walked into the Firehouse.

In my experience, girls will ask for more than what you’re normally willing to pay her or they will say, “it’s up to you?” As we were leaving the bar, I noticed several lookers outside the other bars. They may be the late-shift and were better looking. Business was slow everywhere.

Had couple of nice sessions in the room. She got really into it, a little malibog (looks – 8 from the bar but 6 from the photo, body – 8, attitude – 6). It’s raining again. I decided to check out the Harrison’s Plaza and took a metered cab. Driver wanted to take a shorter route and got stuck in flooded traffic for two f**king hours and cost me P120. If the driver wants to take a short cut during the rainy day, I do not recommend it. My hotel driver took me to the airport the next day during a heavy rain and got to the airport in about 30 minutes not taking the short cut.

I wasn’t impressed with Harrison’s Plaza and couldn’t withdraw any money from the ATMs. Either they were out of order or didn’t accept my VISA debit card. I look a cab to Landmark and was unable to withdraw money from their ATMs or the limit was only P4000. I walked over the Glorietta Plaza and withdrew P15000 from one of their ATMs. Did some shopping and returned to City Garden.

I wanted to check out Chaos but was not willing to deal with the flooded traffic so I hit the P. Burgoz after 7 PM. Okay, talents were better now. Many 7s and occasional 8s, but still I wasn’t too impressed. After visiting the bars on Burgoz, I found Cuddles and Rascals to my liking. I ended up in Cuddles and partied. Mamasan gave me a free drink every time I bought a round of drinks for couple girls and the mamasan. Had an absolute blast. I had about 8 shots of taquila plus couple of mango juice and several (4-5?) rounds of lady’s drinks. My bill was less than P5000 and was pleasantly surprised. Mamasan took really good care of me including my bill. I put it on my credit card and gave a P500 tip. Since I was too wasted, I decided to go home alone.

Side Note: 10 drinks barfine is for one girl only. You can’t combine different lady’s drinks. If you find yourself surrounded by girls and don’t want to buy all of them drinks, you can ask the others to leave or tell them you’ll give them a tip later. P50-100 should suffice. You can save quite of bit this way.

The ATM at CitiBank in Makati City allows you to withdraw 10000 then an additional 5000p per day.

Anyone remeber Ermita from around 1987? I remember this to be an area with bars and talent far exceeding A/C. Of course the new mayor came in and shut it down. But what a blast I had during those days!!!!!

I wasn't old enough too remember the old redlight district of Ermita/Malate. However, from what I have heard from others who were there, it had about 50 bars and several discos. LA Cafe is supposedly located at the spot of a famous(infamous) institution from then called Rosies. Also, Alfredo Lim closed down the old redlight district ostensibly for moral reasons in 1992 - 1993. However, he actually did it because he is a Filipino Chinese racist who did not like non-Asian men having sex with Filipinas. Thus, Lim has never closed down the brothels (including those with underage girls) that cater to his Chinese pals in Quiapo or Binondo in Metro Manila. Also, Lim has been proven to have extensive ties with certain Chinese drug kingpins. When Lim controlled the Police, he allowed them to kill in cold blood members of other drug gangs (thus gaining a national reputation for being tough on crime) while in reality these policies allowed his drug buddies to consolidate power. I have met Lim on two business occasions - he is a real hyprocritical scumbag. Unfortunately, many Filipinos still are deceived by him.
