Does anybody know the going price for a vasectomy in Bangkok?

Any recommendations on where to get it done?

How long will I be "down" after the procedure?

Mostly trying to decide between:
(1) getting it done in USA a month before my trip; or
(2) getting it done upon arriving in LOS and taking a few recovery days; or
(3) wearing a raincoat and having it done on the last day of my vacation.

Seems like the USA doctors want to bill you once for a consultation before actually doing it a week or so later.

The big two that most foreigners seem to go to are Bumrungrad and Yanhee. Have no idea what prices are, but you could send e-mail inquiries about pricing to both hospitals. Whatever it is, it will be much cheaper than where you are.

Of course you'll be wearing a raincoat 24/7 while there anyway (two-ply strength no less), so why not wait until your last day?

You go for a vasectomy in Yanhee or Bumrungrad and you're likely to come out with a vagina. Those artistic surgeons are probably bored with a simple vasectomy. Might want to turn it into a more challenging proceedure.

Bumrungrad's website lists several procedures with prices, although I don't know if vasectomy is one of them. There is a place on there where you can send end a request for a quote for a procedure. I've never used Yanhee, but Bunrungrad, although much cheaper than U.S. hospitals, is pricier than most Thai hospitals.

Unless you are uninsured, why go to BKK for a vasectomy?

Most medical plans in the USA, they are included.

He could have a high deductible plan, like many of us, meaning vast cost savings over having it done back home.

Or maybe he just doesn't want his wife to know he is getting one.... ;)
