Fellas need your help again…
Planning my 4th trip to AC around the end of Jan. 09 and I’ll be traveling with some friends that have been there before and some that will be making their 1st trip. We’re having trouble agreeing on where to stay. Looking for a hotel that isn’t too old, clean, with reasonable prices a nice swimming pool as well as a location that’s close to the action. So far we have narrowed our choices down to the Pacific Breeze, Royal Amsterdam and Dollhouse. None of us have stayed there before, so we are looking for information from anyone that has.
Plus any and all other suggestion would be appreciated
Thanks in Advance,
G.Pro

Royal Amsterdam has no pool. Dollhouse has small claustrophobic overpriced rooms and the noise factor has to be bad.
Pacific Breeze is by far the the best option of those three. For a bit more Wild Orchid would also be a good choice.

Not a big fan of the Wild Orchid. A little overpriced for what you get. Pacific Breeze is a great choice if you really want a swimming pool. Royal Amsterdam is also a very good choice, a little cheaper than the other two, but, as KM said, has no pool.
Try to book early if you need a bunch of rooms since you're looking at high season (Nov. - Feb).

Dollhouse has a small pool on roof, but you won't be swimming any laps that's for sure.
PB or WO best choices.

I stayed at Royal Amsterdam for the first time ever this trip. Had a room on the 4th floor, and was sweating bullets every time by the time I got to the top of the stairs, quite reminiscent of climbing the steep-ass stairs at Royal Apartelle above Camelot, only those rooms at least had a FAN in the room to help you cool off. Royal Amsterdam didn't.
And there was still a HELLUVA lot of noise from videoke alley directly behind the hotel, with 'music' booming until 4 AM or later every night.
The room was actually quite nice, with a large shower, and the price for the p1900 rooms was decent, considering the central location. But, of course, you have no pool, like others have said. Didn't bother me much this trip as it rained almost incessantly the whole time I was in the PI.

Small is an understatement! The only advantage is it can be rented out for a private X rated pool party .
Also I think Dollhouse only has about 6-8 rooms. Can't remember the number for sure . It's been a few years since Xen and I took the royal tour just before it opened. Would never stay there.

Can't speak for Lewis Grande, some of you already have, and I've not been in it yet. Royal Amsterdam between chugging up and down the stairs, noise, lack of pool and price doesn't make sense to me. Dollhouse didn't impress me when they gave me a tour. Pacific Breeze has good pool, service and decent rooms, I do like it. Wild Orchid has a little nicer rooms, pool, quiet and decent service, but more money.
BTW when the girls and I got drunk enough my pool parties have gotten nearly X Rated at Pacific Breeze pool, I think I've shocked the poor service girls a little once or twice.
I think

I get the pool view jacuzzi room at the PB, and I've seen plenty of x-rated stuff out my window in the evening...

You guys are the greatest!!! Thanks!! I’ve shared all of your input with my friends and we have decided to stay at the Pacific Breeze
Most of us are regulars at the Oasis and on my last trip I had a Junior Beach Front Suite at ABC I had a great time there…
Lookin forward to this trip anyone stayed in the PB’s Admiral Suite?
By Khun_mor on Thursday, August 28, 2008 - 10:56 pm: Edit
Hey I've been in every suite in town !
The Admiral at PB is just a bit larger than their jacuzzi rooms. Not all that . Then again it's the cheapest "suite" albeit only one room.
The worst part of the room is the aircon is right over the bed and blows right on you while you try to sleep. It's either freeze or turn the sucker off and use the fan .
Works in cooler months Oct- Feb but no other month.
By Bwana_dik on Friday, August 29, 2008 - 11:41 am: Edit
I go with the poolside jacuzzi rooms. The Admiral Suite is just a bigger version with a slightly larger jacuzzi. Not worth the extra $$.
Just booked my next stay in the PB poolside jacuzzi room.
By Bwana_dik on Friday, August 29, 2008 - 11:44 am: Edit
BTW, it seems that the Lewis Grande rates remain negotiable. I went back and forth with them and got a rate substantially lower than their rack rate, but in the end decided on the PB because of location.

I'm looking for a decent place to stay for under $70 a night during New Years. I've stayed at the Pacific Breeze and Central Park, but those are all booked up for the new year. Any recommendation on any equalivalent hotels I can book in that general area which still might have rooms available?

Stayed at a number of hotels my last visit to Angeles. These were my observations. Some of you may have had different experiences but these were mine.
Central Park Hotel:
Got my resevation wrong and made it for January rather then October. Had to change rooms after the first day.
The room had roaches and flies. The shower had mold and the water was only luke warm. The bed was miserable. Was suppose to stay 7 days, stayed one.
I have stayed at there sister hotel Pacific Breeze and the accommodations were good and service excellent. The Central Park Hotel is in need of some serious rennovation and upgrade.
Savanah Hotel:
2500 a night.
Room and hotel was nice. Service I would rate about a 6 or 7. Example, many times the shuttle was not availiable.
Stayed 5 days and had to move due to no vacancy.
Kokomo Hotel:
2500 a night
Sleep outside with the rats before you rent a room here.
The room was small, the ac was weak, and the tv was small.
The worst part is it was noisy and the room smelled like something died in the walls.
The lady told me there were no rooms availiable for me to look at when I rented the room. That was a lie and now I know why. She also stated the Hotel was newly renovated. I don't want to think about how it looked before.
I paid for one day and could only stand it for five hours before I moved.
As a side note, their clubs King of Diamond and the other one next door, (can't remember the name), had the ugliest women also.
Affinity Condos:
2750 a night.
This was my favorite place. A one bedroom condo with living room, dining area and full kitchen. The place is very modern, Has flat screen in bedroom and living room. They have accommodations for less then 2000 a night and special pricing for long term stays.
If I were going to stay in A C for a long period of time, this would be my place.
Two things, you need to like a firm mattress and I would not walk back to the hotel at night. This is because the road to the hotel is very dark. A trike from fields is only 50 pesos.
I can't speak for anyone else but for me, if the accommodations are not right, the rest of the trip is shit for me also.
Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the recommendation for Affinity Condos. Had not heard about this place.
Checking out the website now.

Have stayed at Central Park a dozen times and have never seen a roach. But you are right about the need for renovation. Hopefully they will spend some time updating the older rooms now that they have finished adding new rooms and renovating the lobby. My biggest gripe about CP is the thread-bare sheets - they are BADLY in need of an update. For the price, though, I don't think they can be beat.
Having said that, I'll be staying at the Pacific Breeze on my next trip. I'll be curious to see what the extra cost will bring me.
Silly question regarding Affinity Condo (silly as I think I know the answer), is there daily maid service?
Thanks,
EA
By Treker on Saturday, October 23, 2010 - 11:10 am: Edit
Yes daily.
By Porker on Sunday, October 24, 2010 - 10:18 am: Edit
Kokomoz rooms are p2500? THAT is messed up! Once upon a time when Mo ran the place it was 1250 plus p250 free food credit. And it was still an iffy proposition if it was worth it due to various 3rd world snafus.
+1 on the linen at Central Park. Several towels had holes in them and would tear a little with any slight vigor in toweling off. On the positive side, when can a fat bastard like me feel like the INCREDIBLE HULK when ripping a towel apart with raw muscle?
I still love Central Park, and it's a fantastic value for the location and still GREAT service. The perimeter places with similar cost have ghetto-ish rooms, IMO. Swiss Chalet has no pool and not always easy to get a room.

Avoid the Natalia hotel my in room safe was opened by staff with the master key from the managers office and 400us was stollen. The chamber maid stashed the key in a high closet in the back corner for use at a later time for his next victim.I found it after inventorying my belongings. The staff tried to cover for each other and say I was issued a key. Which was a lie. I brought it to the managers attention and made a police report. Bottom line no satisfaction and the their is still employed at the hotel.

treker;
you're absolutely right, if the hotel room or hotel is not up to standards, then, the trip goes to shit, no way around. that is my golden rule and have and must be satisfied to get on the right foot during my trips. you still have some "golden boys" here that feel their word is non challenging and come with stupid nonsense on where to stay, if is too far, can't walk, know it all, and other "tuttifrutti" issues; oh well, to each its own !!!!
Cashew;
I have the natalia hotel in my "red list" and will stay away from that place!!!! always try to tell anybody that goes there to avoid this place.

So far I have never had a security issue with Central Park or Pacific Breeze hotels - and I stuff cash in their safes with no issues...
