Of course it is . You have seen how the railroad tracks in BKK attract shanty town slums. The slums occupy any free space and the railroad right of ways are about the most prevalent free space in BKK.
In BKK where people are there will be food stalls and vendors.

That's pretty cool. Xen, if you ever ride a train out of Hualomphong Station, you'll see just how close the squatters will live up to the tracks. Not like this video, but they get real close.
