Some of you guys must have had some suits made in Hong Kong, any leads on a good cheap place?

Beware the inexpensive Indian shops that overpromise and underdeliver. Yeah, it's cheap, but you get what you pay for. Depending on the material, a good suit should cost at least $250 in HK.

This is not spam. Use whatever tailor you like.

For decades I have used W.W. Chan & Sons, Ltd. They now have a website wwchan.com

Not cheap, but you get great quality and great service. Ideally, if you are going to have suits made, you should allow time for 3 fittings, over a minimum of 5 days.

If you haven't bought "bespoke" before, typically at a quality tailor the first visit you select the fabric and they measure you, then in 24-48 hours you come back with the pieces of the suit rough cut and held together with pins, paper patterns still attached. They will measure again and then sew it.

Then you come back at least a few days later and this third time they will be able to make any fitting minor adjustments within a few hours.

I used to make a point of hitting Hong Kong at the beginning and the end of my trips to accommodate this schedule.

By the way, Chan has a great selection of fabrics for dress shirts and you can specify the type of collar, cuff etc. to suit your tastes.

I should be there for 2 weeks, so time is not a problem. Apart from Chan, are there any recommendations?

Had a a suit, some sport coats, and several white dress shirts made at this tailor near Star Ferry terminal in Kowloon. I recommend getting custom fit white dress shirts made because they are much cheaper than shirts in the US. I had some made with Egyptian cotton and they fit great and feel very comfortable. $250 is a reasonable price plus your using good material.

I love the tailors in Bangkok on Sukkumvit Soi 11 for casual clothes, safari shirts, etc. For dress clothes, I prefer the tailors in Hong Kong.

LOL meant to say $250 is a good price for a suit. Dress shirt will run you about $30.

Remember, the cost of a suit can be MUCH higher than $250, depending on the material (some wools have cashmere or silk blens, which make them more pricey).

As a rule, don't go to tailors in shopping malls or hotels. They cater to tourists, not to repeat customers.

Same with storefront tailors, and never use one that has "suit pimps" outside their doors hustlng for customers

I want to get very high-quality replacements for the ratty old panda bear suits that I had cut for my favorite siamese twin sweeties. Do you think the Hong Kong tailors would be willing and able to fit up nice form-fitting crotchless panda suits for my favorite conjoined twins? I realize this would be a bit unusual but the only lame part of playing out this fantasy with the conjoined girs was the panda costumes that I had were of quite low quality.

Any info that you can provide me with on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

No problem. Just tell any tailor

1. you have a "friend" who only has sex with 4 legged animals

2. your friend is very nearsighted

I'm sure the tailors get the same request over and over.

Good luck.

Another recommendation for WW Chan from me. I've seen lots of pictures of their work and they do a great job.

Great value - tailors of equiv standard in North America cost 2x more.
