The entire Sun City complex houses a hotel, karaoke, restaurant, lounge, spa/massage/fitness, and luxury club. The Lindeteves Trade Center is a mall like Mangga Dua Square, but not nearly as popular or crowded with shops and people. There is a Giant hypermarket on the 1st floor of the LTC. And there is a food court on the 2nd floor. But they pretty much close up shop at this mall at 5pm and the place is ghost town afterward. By contrast, Mangga Dua Square is generally open until 10pm.
This hotel is also in a decent location. You are within walking distance from Stadium and Lokasari just like you are if you stay at the Mercure. In fact, you can even see the Mercure in the background from the above picture of the Sun City sign.
The bottom two floors of LTC seem mostly for hardware stuff like tools and such.
I decided to check out the hotel after my recent massage at Sun City Spa. I have not stayed at this hotel. And English did not seem to be widely spoken by hotel staff like it was at the Novotel. But maybe that was because I just spoke Indonesian to them.
But if I understood correctly, the price of the standard room included free Wi-Fi and breakfast.
The Novotel charges more than $10 US for breakfast and a ridiculous amount for their pitifully slow broadband internet access.
Sun City hotel has 54 rooms if I understood correctly. They seemed sufficiently far away from the lounge, but they were kind of close to the karaoke rooms. So I am not sure if a Sparks Hotel type thing would also be in play at Sun City as well.
After talking to the front desk staff, I discovered that the Standard Room was 544K including tax and service charge. I also saw a sign that said 459,000 net so that price kind of makes sense. This is for two people and a free breakfast.
The Suite was 714K including tax and service charge. I believe it was 595K net, but I don't remember. Those ratios do kind of hold up though with about 18.5% tax on each.
If you want a view or windows you will be out of luck with this hotel. So if you get claustrophobic easily then this is not the hotel for you. You can look forward to curtains with lighted black brick behind it.
Also, the LTC doesn't quite offer all the services than Mangga Dua Square does. Still, with breakfast and free Wi-Fi included, at 544K a night that kind of sounds like a decent deal to me.

Honestly that is a really shabby and worn looking standard and suite room. Looks more geared towards locals and Asian businessmen. Novotel Mangga Dua much newer and nicer IMHO but you are right about the outrageous price for wifi at Novotel.

I do not agree with your assessment that the rooms look shabby and worn.
And if by "much newer" you mean that the Novotel opened about six months before the Lindevetes Trade Center where Sun City is located, then I guess that makes it "much newer."
Accor opens first Novotel in Jakarta, August 2005.

Lindeteves Trader Center holds soft opening in late January 2006.

I guess its a matter of taste but this hotel seems to have 70's furniture and shabby curtains and bed spreads. I do love the flat screens next to each other in the suite though. Boy, I am really sounding gay now....
Dont get me wrong, totally appreciate the fact that you went through the hassle of taking photos and doing the research for new places to stay in Jakarta, especially considering there are few options in that part of Jakarta.
