I guess this area used to be swinging and wild back when...Now the former base is an economic zone or whatever.
I checked it out some between days in Angeles City. You got a few distinct areas: the old base and Subic Int'l Hotel (the old officers quarters) and some ex-pat and tourist friendly services like for your ATM. Scooter knows the most about these.

The second area is the Barrio Baretta area with beach front resorts, a historic Marmont Hotel, the VFW for american chow, and a few bars with ex-pats and mongers. Real kick-back, nice girls too.

And then Subic City, where there are a few gogo bars like in Angeles and Manila. Olongapo City itself has no monger activites.
Barfine is 1000p, and maybe a small tip, like in AC. Unless a Navy ship full of Marines is docked at Subic, then Barfines go to 1500p but you get a non-Navy or non-Marine discount is you tell'm your a regular tourist and not with the ship. Same goes with beer, if you get charged the Navy/Marine price you ask the manager for a rebate.

In Subic City, the Asian Reef is being re-done. Its right on the "Subic Strip". Paul the manager will have cable TV and more furniture in his rooms. They should be very comfy with new beds and all. New AC blowing right over the bed and thru the open french doors into the living room of the suites.
Two sets of cute young dancers in the bar, free pizza once a week and 2/1 drinks once a week.
A third floor open deck with plenty of room, pooltables, and service.

Went back to Subic Bay a few months ago since the Military Base shut down. It is still rockin in some places. Mr-T's is still around. San Miguels are 50 cents and the women are 30 for the whole night. They tried 60 bucks, they were lucky to even get 30 bucks since i knew what the going rate was a when i was last their. In a neiboring town you can still get the girls for 10 - 15 a night. Hotels range from 15 to a really nice one for 45 a night. The girls will love you long time. Be carful of your surrondings. They are always out to get newbies for all their money.

Just a friendly and cruel reminder for ALL you mongers. there is no mongering in Olongapo /B' Barreto anymore. last night i was wondering along Magsaysay avenue and there were tons and tons of girls everywhere, sad to say there were not in the "game"; unless, what you look is to get "MARRIED". still, i love the place and i believe the town looks better now than when the US navy was here!!!. so, if this is not your plan of attack, then, head for AC/manila or Cebu for greener pastures.///

MP did they clean up Shit River??

By Archie29621 on Monday, November 22, 2004 - 03:11 pm:  Edit

Shit river. Memories of 1975 as we walked across the bridge over shit river and threw pesos in the water. The young filipinos would dive in and never let a peso get away. It was 7 pesos to the US dollar back then, and that bridge transformed me into a diehard Philippines fan that evening.

NO, shit river still the same. town in general looks better and more healthy. remind everybody that still people living day by day in this third world country. still i like it here. there is always a yellow brick road for me to AC/Manila/Cebu or Iloilo.///

As far as mongering here, you might as well go to AC/Manila or Cebu. the days of Soddom and Gomorra in the Subic/Barreto/Olongapo area are over; not to say this place is not nice. this is what i was always looking for!!! not bad at all.

Visiting again in spring 2006. I hit AC first cuz we all know why. Then I split to B'Barreta for a few days cuz its so laid back. Like Pattaya with open-air bars, but way smaller. Ok that darn Mommy Diane in Rock Lobster almost wrings your $s out of you for bf. She will recommend a gal, and that gal will certainly produce! But the other bars have nice gals too. I've stayed a few nights in many places there. Lately at Blue Rock but the owner plays games with the reservations. I'll try Johans this time, 50 meters down the road on Baloy Beach. I saw it last time, rooms, beer, and food are much cheaper, you can stroll down the beach to the floating bar, et al.

Subic can be fun, although I wouldn't go there for the purpose of mongering. There are a few bars (you'll need a trike driver to help you find them), and a few girls to be found, but I'd recommend bringing a girl along.

Anyone know if the new Clark-Subic 'super-highway' is open yet?

By Khun_mor on Saturday, August 25, 2007 - 01:24 pm:  Edit

No it's not. Many construction delays -- and late bakseesh payments I guess.

The new highway is great!
Some new resorts on Baloy, Wild Orchid and Treasure Island. Food and drinks are reasonable at both, but not much weeknight biz.

There are a lot of bars in the Barretto and some nice looking girls. Bar fines were around P1500 when I was there in May/June of 2010. Hate watching these girls dance though. They're just not into it!
