Can I get a good recomendation for a hotel in Pattaya, under $30USD a night, near/on Walking Street?

Pay the extra for the deluxe room - alot bigger.

This place doesn't pull the high/low season BS and there's no extra for staying over Xmas/NY like many hotels have. This would be a better location for you as you wanted easy access to WS. It's a minute walk to Beach and Second Rd - located right in the middle of the Soi. So, whether you're going to, or coming back from WS you are a minute's walk from a bahtbus. Older hotel and not nearly as fancy, but the room's a LOT bigger then the one offered at the PBR and it bills in USD so you're not dealing with currency variation.

Dirt cheap and you can't beat the location. Room's can't be all that great, but they got hot water, AC, TVs and right outside your front door is WS. Not such a bad idea...

i've stayed at the sawasdee on soi 10. decent value for the money. breakfast wasn't real good and they didn't have internet in room when i was there. however, the room was clean and fairly large (and so was the bed).

Those guesthouses, while nice enough, are much farther off the beaten path and aren't saving any money compared to the Sawasdee Seaview. If he's looking for proximity to WS then they're not the best choice, especially for someone that may be new to town.

Another thing I don't like about guesthouses like this are the bottom floors are usually beerbars. While it's nice if you just wanna leave your room and fuck someone downstairs, you've got the same people watching the women you're walking in with. While hotel staff see you come and go with your evening's selections they tend to be more discreet. Also, everytime you walk down that street with a barfine you're passing LOADS of beerbars and the women there also take note of your selections. Soi 10 does not have this same problem.

Currently have a room booked @ Irish Rovers. Gonna start there & see how t is. My backup is Secrets. 1st time in Pattaya (last trip was 2004 in BKK), so somewhat diff place altogether & going alone. I'll be there from 25Dec-3Jan. On a military budget ($300USD/day) & don't wanna spend a fortune on room, as I expect I'll just be fu*kin/sleepin there. Thanks for the tips, gents, and PM me if ya got any other hints/tips/etc. Would like to know current rates for various gogo ST/LT & Beergarden ST/LT. Appreciate it much...

With a good budget like that and a cheap room, you will have a lot of money to party. Have fun and be safe.

well you are next to Lólita's so that is a plus. i haven't been to club hell but you are right there also. getting to walking street will be a bit of a journey, might opt for a moto taxi. getting back should be okay, catch the "baht buses/tuk tuks" down second rd and walk up soi diana.

i think the general pricing for beer bars is 300thb bar fine and 1,000 s/t/2,000 l/t. for go gos, i believe bar fine can be as high as 500thb and probably 2,000 s/t and 3,000 l/t. if you are in one of the less popular go gos, might get s/t for 1,500 and l/t for 2,500.
