It just baffles me that no one, not one person, has mentioned this place of great hangouts. If you get tired of chicks moving side to side in Herman Munster shoes and not knowing a single dance move with music so loud it can be compared to lounging on the side of a runway at a major airport, then you have got to go to this place. Beautiful, friendly girls who do not hassle you, a place you can actually have a conversation with friends without using a bullhorn, and barfines at only 1300 PHP. I was only in AC for 4 nights, staying at the Wild Orchid Resort and went to this place every afternoon to eat and get the party started. I was there for my birthday and they found out and actually threw me a huge party with all the girls there. Instead of hangin out at a place where you can watch (and smell) the traffic go by if you want a drink in the afternoon, you gotta get to Shano's, the place is huge, plenty of seating, great pub food, and the girls will be there smiling without hassling.

Beautiful place, nice aircon, horrible food, aweful service. Great place to hang out with friends in aircon environment before going out but not a place to eat.

Have to agree with Blazers for sure! Add the many negative feebacks on other boards as far as the barfines. Also, not a good value.

And how many restos in the world won't serve a paying cusotmer a glass of ice water? Shano's is one!

I'll order from the back menu as it's the same stuff that used to be in SM mall, Phillies Cheeseteaks.

One postitive, if you need to take a crap and your in the area, the CR is pretty decent.

Maybe that's because the food is REALLY shitty (read my last AC trip report for the full details.) Additionally, I have read several reports of bad barfines from Shano's on other boards. I don't know if they are true, but Ive read enough to cause me not to risk it.

There's plenty of other places to go in AC for better food (not that there's good food there) and women.

Wow, I must have went on a good week, or my standards are just lower, but I had a great time there last month. Oh well, I guess everyone has there own likes and dislikes. Maybe if I go a few more times, I will see the downside of the place.

I was there last month as well and saw no one worth barfining among the staff. The food was horrible in comparison to what it was last year and it was not all that great then. Go there on a Sunday when rugby games are blaring on the TVs and you would miss the quiet of Blue Nile.

I guess so, KM, but I still love all of AC, don't get me wrong, I just wanted to recognize this place since all the others, whether good or bad, were listed as well. No worries, I would still party with any of you guys any day of the week and have a great time. By the way, I am hitting Patong Beach, Pattaya, and AC in Feb if anyone wants to make plans.

In February of this year I thought Shanos food was pretty good and so did my GF. However, I never thought about barfining from there and in all my visits saw maybe 2-3 girls total I would even consider pulling.

This last trip the fries were soggy, the Philly cheese steak was dry and had pathetic sliced beef. Their kitchen was outsourced to someone is what I heard and quality went straight downhill.They have a new manager now who has promised to correct the quality issues and revive the business. Hope he does . AC desperately needs quality food choices.

Hey KM: Is late March til mid April a good time to be in AC? Manila?

Low season in both places except April 13 is start of Songkran in Thailand . Always have to remember that and avoid it if you can.

The weather is hot as hell in both places but bars more empty and less sword fighting.

There is a girl who works at Shano's named Berlinda who is a real con and bullshit artist. If you barfine her, you will be fucked and not in a good way. Others have complained about her also. Lovey dovey in bar and a sack of wet laundry in the room. Until you kick her ass out and management cosigns her bullshit so no help there.

There has been a change of ownership at Shano's and George from Geckos is the new owner. He will replace the staff and remodel the place. I will drop in there one day and look it over again.

If he staffs it like he does Geckos I might eat there every day.

George is also opening a large open air beer bar Pattaya style in a new bar complex that is opening at corner of Field and MacArthur. Will be several new go go type bars and the beer bar.

Agree Bwana -- the food has gone downhill and it started pretty close to the bottom to begin with. George is a pretty savvy businessman . I hope he will throw out he kitchen staff and revamp the menu.
They need to clean house of half of the service staff as well. This last trip I went in one time with my GF Nimfa and while we ate the waitress just sat in the booth next to Nimfa staring at me - I guess expecting a drink . I finally told he to get her ass up and dream up something to keep herself busy.

Will be interesting to see if his outdoor beer bar does any business - especially since you are sitting near MacArthur breathing fumes from all those trikes, trucks, and jeepneys. It will take some pretty good looking girls to attract me to a hot sweaty bar to suck up exhaust.

walked by it many times in March, but never went inside. just dumb luck because I had no idea it was as bad as this thread says.

Was closed last 2 weeks for renovation. I heard they were putting in gambling stuff in place of pool tables.

Ate there exactly ONCE and had one HELLUVA 5 dollar bowl of clam chowder. Am sure the cooks have long since been shuffled around.

While I was severely skeptical about their supposed "sports bar" status before it opened, this place is now a KICK ASS place to watch a game with live feeds from the US (sling box?).

Food quality is very up and down, drink prices are OK, gabby waitresses and bartenders if you blink twice at them. I can' believe I actually saw live US feeds here though, in AC. The open air beer bar complex has ESPN from the states, Cricket matches, but a clueless white guy manager in daytimes that can't figure out how to put a different game on the screen.

BTW, is now known as "The International"
