I have read quite a number of posts about Patong Beach being a great place to visit, so I did a little recon and found this hotel that is pretty close to the action. Just wondering, since there is nothing here about it, if anyone has ever stayed here and how was it? Thanks.

the expat hotel is an older property. i've never stayed there but i've used the fitness place that is on the same street as the hotel. back in june/july of this year, there was some major construction going on so you might want to avoid this area for the next six months or so.
one plus for the hotel is they have a pool and probably one of the lower room rates for hotels with pools. and the location is good also. but might be a little noisy and dusty right now.
i do prefer to stay near the action in patong. you can get cheaper lodging away from the action but transport to/from the action can add up. usually 100thb minimum one way so two round trips a day and you add 400thb to your daily tab. that can often be what you save by staying away from the action so you end up not saving.
how much are you looking to spend on hotel ? i stayed at the pacific light hotel earlier this year. brand new place but no pool. tara patong is nice if you need a pool but you often have to negotiate with hotel about charging for girls coming to your room. if you book for two in advance you can usually get away w/o charges. it is best to get confirmation of no guest charges via email before you check in. many of the nicer hotels withing walking distance to soi bangla will charge for "guests" so be sure to ask when making a reservation.

Hey Buick,
Thanks for the advice. I was originally looking at the Baan Sukhothai Resort since it is in the middle of everything, but found out they are not guest friendly. As they say, "location, location, location" is something I look for just in case I had a few too many and just want to be able to stumble back to my room. I went ahead and reserved the most expensive room at the Expat and it is only 65 bucks a night and got an email back saying they are guest friendly, no extra cost. I won't be coming until Feb next year, maybe the construction will be close to an end by then. Anyway, I am a pretty solid sleeper, so I don't think it will be much of a problem. I appreciate the advice and maybe I will see you there.

feb is the back end of high season. rooms are still pretty expensive and $65/nt is a good rate for a place with a pool. please let us know how the place worked out for you when your trip is over.
i ate alot at the baan sukothai restaurant, it is called the green house (or green something). the patio fronts right onto soi bangla so you can enjoy dinner about 8pm and watch the ladies stroll by on their way to work. they also have a decent all you can eat breakfast if you find the expat doesn't have enough to fill you up.
have a good trip.

I stayed at the Expat about 12 years ago. The rooms are basic, and were a bit run down even back then, but they were comfortable, and the girls never complained. It's an easy walk to the heart of the action on Soi Bangla, and Christine Massage is pretty close as well.
Have fun!
