The Japan board has been very quite. I am going there in 2 weeks staying in Kabukicho. Does anyone have any advise for me on where to go for action. I will write a trip report on my return. Thanks guys.

I have one word of advice about kabuki-cho: avoid it. The place is well-known for ripping everyone off. All the joints are affiliated in some way with the yakuza, so you have no recourse but to sadly walk away disappointed and broke. And if you have no Japanese skills, the fleecing will be worse.

Caveat emptor.

Got a tip from another forum and that's to get a Japanese tour guide, he'll get you into places and avoid you getting ripped off.
