I will be taking my first trip to Thailand in July (short trip)to be followed by a longer one in Oct. I have done the Phils several times and love it, but dont know what to expect in Thailand. I am traveling alone. Do I need to be worried about saftey? Police? Girls that steal etc?

I have found that in Angeles and Cebu the girls, the Mamasans and Papasans have been wonderful! If I ever had a problem it was handled quickly and quietly.

Can I expect the same thing in Thailand?

Where should a newbie go on his first trip to Thailand? Should I spend more time in Bangkok or Pattaya. Any help is greatly appreciated:-)

When your PI friends find out you went to Pattaya they will come and rob you. Seriously, the level of crime is much lower in LOS than in the PI. The infrastructure is much better in LOS than PI. The english is poorer in LOS, but there is still a lot of English in BKK and Pattaya. Thais are generaly cleaner and have better food and hotels for cheaper than PI. Thais also have better medical than PI. AC girls like to eat, drink, swim and party more than Thai girls and in AC cameras are allowed to be used in the gogos, but not in LOS. There is more to do other than screw in LOS. On the other hand the girls are a little less enamoured with Americans and look at Americans as just another of the many farangs. I would go to Pattaya if you are going for sex as it is cheaper and more devoted to just sex, drinking and the party. Different people have different opinios on these subjects and you should read the wealth of info and make up your own mind or then ask more specific questions after you've read more of what's on this and other boards.
