Can anyone tell me what the best way is to get from BKK to Thailand? Im assuming you have to fly into Bangkok and then drive to Pattaya. Is there anyway to fly into Pattaya?

I generally don't like to ride public transportation. Any recomendations on luxury transportation?

Thanks for the help in advance!

I have always used Mr. Tooms and have never had problems. The normal flight I take arrives at 11:45pm so the last thing I want to do is screw around with trying to find a ride. Picks you up right outside customs

He charges 1200 thb

options include:

bus
meter taxi (about 1500thb)
guys like mr. toom (more than 1000, less than 1500)
"luxury" sedan/taxi at airport (i think 2000).

if you don't mind paying more, just get the luxury sedan right outside of customs (the girls asking if you need a taxi). these cars are very comfortable. i took these cars from the old airport since the ride was about an hour longer than it is now. i use the meter taxi's now.

I've always used Mt Taxi. Very reliable @ 1000 baht each way. He even comes into downtown Bangkok if you spend time there on your trip.

New url for Mr. Dream Transport: www.mrdreamtransport.page.tl

I used Mr.T for the airport pickup to Pattaya. It took the driver less than hour from the time I met him two doors away from the Customs exit I used to checking into my hotel on Second Road.

See write-up for Mr.T Taxi at: www.paradise-pattaya.com/taxi-to-pattaya.html

My two-week visit to Pattaya is over.

I just wanted to describe how I got from Pattaya to the Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) airport.

First, I went to the Bell Bus web site, www.belltravelservice.com, logged in as a member, and made a reservation on its 6 am bus (earliest morning scheduled bus ride) from Pattaya to Manila. The web site said that the trip normally takes two hours. It notified me that the Bell pickup at my hotel would be 5:20 am.

I started thinking. Since my flight's departure was scheduled for 9:30 am and the bus should arrive at the airport at 8 am, would 1.5 hours be sufficient to check in, clear Immigration, and go through the x-ray inspection? I recalled checking in at Thai Air and standing in a line that extended almost to the counter on the other side of the aisle, which was a long wait to check in. Similarly I recalled long lines at the Immigration booths that extended to the opposite wall of the room, which involved a 20-minute wait. X-ray inspections were relatively fast, but the walk to the departure gate was another 10-15 minutes.

So, to avoid missing my flight, I should book a taxi,

Sidewalk booths advertised 800 baht and 850 baht taxi ride to the airport. I inquired. One booth said that the ride would take 1.5 hours, I had to pay an additional 60 baht for the motorway tolls, and I would be the only passenger. I had asked about the last, because several years ago my taxi picked up two other male tourists for our ride to the airport and each of us paid the full price.

When I landed in Thailand in mid-Nov 2010, MrT Taxi driver in an unmarked sedan drove me from the airport to my Pattaya hotel in less than an hour.

Thus, I walked along Soi Diana to find Mr.T Taxi office and discussed its ride.

Mr.T Taxi office staffers said that a 6 am ride from Pattaya to the airport would take two hours. I said that my ride ten days earlier from the airport to Pattaya at 6 pm took less than one hour. They did not believe me and said that the driver must have drove fast and the traffic was light. I said that there was some traffic, but not heavy traffic, because the driver was constantly changing lanes but he drove competently. Then they said the ride would take up to 1.5 hours, but it depended on the traffic.

I asked if the price was as advertised on the web site, www.paradise-pattaya.com/taxi-to-pattaya.html. Staffers said that the price was 1,000 baht from the airport to Pattaya, 900 baht from Pattaya to the airport, and both prices included the tolls and parking fees. They gave me a business card which showed both prices.

Tuesday morning, 5:45 am. I checked out of my hotel. Mr.T Taxi driver was waiting in the hotel lobby, although he had to identify himself to me lacking any ID pinned to his shirt. The traffic was light. It took 1.25 hours to get to the airport. However, one little problem -- he took the right lane to Arrival and I yelled left lane to Departure. He said, not a problem, you only have to walk up two flights to the Departure floor.

It was not a major problem to take my one small suitcase up two escalators to two floors above. I gave him only half of my intended 10% tip. I guessed he was picking up an arriving visitor.

Getting through the BKK airport was the quickest I've experienced. In the gate in less than 30 minutes on both my trips to Pattaya.

Getting to Pattaya in less than 1 hour, I find that very hard to believe myself. Both my trips took 1.5 hours and maybe a bit longer, and 1 of the drivers was driving so fast I ask her to slow down.
