This thread is dedicated to hotels under 1000 baht. I created this thread so that others looking for such hotels can have a resource.
When I get on the ground over there, I will update this thread with more choices. Please fee free to update this thread yourself.
I believe what most people do is make a reservation at one place. When they get on the ground, they spend a day going around and find another hotel that might suit them better.
Here are links to a few of them I found:
Secrets - Located near Walking Street. Rooms 750-999 baht, breakfast included, free wifi,

6-7 blocks walk to walking street- 945 baht rooms, breakfast included, free wifi, Go-Go bar in the same building area.

6-7 blocks walk to walking street-beach is only a few blocks away, bar and restaurant in same building, 600-700 baht rooms, breakfast in lobby 40-100 bahts, free wifi. The owner Steve seems willing to cut deals on various things. He quoted me 600 baht room.

but you haven't stayed in any of these have you ? it is really best if one stays in the hotel and then provides a review.
listing hotels available in pattaya is worthless information for anyone who has already visited pattaya. and it is also worthless for anyone who has not visited pattaya as you can't provide a review on the quality/service of the hotel.
once you've completed your trip, it would be nice to hear about your experiences.

In Angeles City, you need to make reservations a few months in advance to get a room at the hotel of your choice. So reviews are important in regards to Angeles City and other such places where the hotels are a tough grab.
However, I have found there are so many hotels in Pattaya there is no need to look at reviews or make any reservations beforehand. On another forum, I had a few hotel owners trying to get me into their hotel.
So I figure the plan is to compile a long list of hotels in my price range, make a reservation at a cheap hotel for 2-3 days and then look around at the various options in-person once I get there.
The above hotels is basically my starter list. No hotels are booked right now and most are negotiable I found out on another board. There were two hotel owners who emailed me offering deals.

It looks like some nice finds, however, from my experiences, one can't go off pics on a web site, you might be in for a big surprise when you get there, what looks good on a web site can be a rat-hole in person.
Question ??? If one were planning to look around at different hotels available, should he just book for 2 or 3 days in intial hotel ??
I'm booked for entire stay at 1 hotel, would it be possible to move once there, or am I locked in once arriving ???

Sawasdee Seaview almost always has rooms under 1,000 baht as well and the rooms are quite nice.

Pattaya Bay Resort in the off season has a monthly rate of 14,000 Baht which is under 500 per day. It' way nicer than all of these dumps.

Pattaya Bay Resort has been reported to pull the dirty towel scam.
Dirty Towel Scam: the hotel tells you that you have made your assigned towels so dirty they can no longer be used (eg, spot of blood from a shaving nick), and will charge you something like 500b because they need to replace it. Of course, they do not actually give you the offensive thing.

Even Sandy Spring pulled that one. They actually brought the blood stained pillow case down to the lobby and held it up accusingly in front of everyone as I was checking out.

Over the last three years I've never had any problem like that with them. Because I give the maid 40 Baht a day as a tip she gives me unlimited towels and pillows. Believe me I've done some terrible things to towels and sheets there over the years.
By I_am_sancho on Friday, November 20, 2009 - 09:53 pm: Edit |
LOL. Yea. I always tip the maid commiserate to the scale and magnitude of the problem left to her, and in general, maids over the years have been remarkably efficient at making my problems go away. A little blood on the pillow case would get 40 baht, ranging up to, I suppose, a MUCH larger tip if there were blood splattered all over the walls and ceiling.
That time was when they checked the room on checkout before the maid arrived, plus I always hide any tip for the maid on checkout day where only someone actually cleaning the room would find it because I assume it will be stolen before the maid gets there otherwise.

I think this was a good topic to start. Whether or not Portege has provided reviews, he has provided names and websites at least. My personal choice has always been to just show up. You are bound to find a room somewhere for cheap. I have reserved rooms on my first couple of trips, but I have learned, for me at least, it ain't necessary. If it is a dump, fine, one night won't hurt; move on in the morning. If one is new to Pattaya, at least this topic will point them in some sort of direction. After going to PAttaya a few times, I like LK Metro; many cheap guesthouses, cool area (and I love Lólita's) and I don't mind walking to the main drag at night.

I also prefer to just show up and see what I can find. However this is not a good idea during the height of high season, which is roughly from xmas until February.

Bendejo, I am trip planning Feb 13-Feb 28. Reserved first four nights. Going with fid as I go and the idea of getting better rates, side tripping out of town, and figuring out what what areas I want to be situated in once on the ground. Is this a good or bad idea for one looking in the moderate 1000b-1500b range for superior / deluxe rooms?
