I just spent a week diving in Roatan. The diving was great but the mongering is limited.

The place to stay is the 'West End' which is a mile long sand street with 10 hotels, 15 bars and 15 dive shops plus shops etc. I stayed at the SeaBreeeze Inn which had a great dive/hotel package and was the best for diver conveniences with dive equipment storage right on the water. The other option is resorts the best of which is Anthony's Bay. The facilites at the resorts looks good but you have to taxi to West End to bar hop and try other restaurants.

The best mongering bar is the Twisted Toucan. It is an open air bar that is busy every night. P$P girls come in and looks for dirty old men that will 'fuckie / suckie' for $30 -$60 USD (18 Limperes / USD). I was approached on 3 occasions by black native girls that come in from the slums of Coxen Hole, the isle capital and a place not worth going to.

Two of the girls were quite heavy as are about 70% of the natives. I was also warned by several ex-pats that the Aids rate in Honduras is 13%. I did connect with the one 22 y.o. thin one 'Wendy' for $40 and she spent 2 hours with me. She would have stayed longer to watch TV and play 'touchy feelie' but I kicked her out. Good BBJ and external cream pie. But as the week went on she was often walking the one street and she became more hostile and crude as I would not take her a second time. She was hanging with a cute girlfriend that spoke only Spanish but was only 17 so I stayed clear. The last night I had to threaten to get the tourist police to get her away from me.

Overall the atmosphere is laid back, safe and the people are friendly. If you say hi to everyone as you walk you will get a lot of smiles and I think if you waived more of the girls over you would get results.

The place is abudant with beautiful European diver chicks, many from Italy. I am sure they are partying but you would have to dress the part and be in your 20's or 30's to get them.

The Shark Dive ($85 with 10 big 9' sharks 3' away)is fantastic and the wreck and cavern dives are also great. Over 90 dive sites at only $15 a dive puts it in the top dive places in the world in my book.

Anthonys Key Resort has a little island with bungalows on it. The European chicks love it out there and many sunbathe topless or nude. You have to take a water taxi to get to it but it runs 24 hrs per day (about a 3 minute ride and no charge).

You are right about this being one of the top dive spots in the world. Deep water close to shore; huge coral reefs, sponge coral big enough to get inside. On land there is an old indian burial ground in a ravine where we actually found pottery and jade beads. Cool place to visit but I recommend you take your own girl/s.


When you finish diving and go back to the mainland, there is a lot of fun to be had in San Pedro Sula so save a few days of your trip for mongering in Belize.
