Oro Solido (zona 9) in Guatemala, C.A.
Visited recently August 2002. Good dancers, most girls Salvadoranean. It is a bonus if you speak spanish. As always, the girl's drinks are about $5!!! Watch out because they get shot size juice cups, which will pad the bill up considerably. A beer should be about $3. Maybe even buy a bottle there, and invite a girl over - you might just get someone to party with you. You probably can get a "date" between $50 to $75 - depending on quality. Never pay more than that though. If you get someone to like you, you never know. They may just meet with you after the night is over (3 am or so which happened to me)).

Oro Solido is located at #4-51 on Avenida 6 in Zone 4 between Via 4 and Via 5...also between Ruta 5 and Ruta 6. It's on the east side of the street in a green and yellow building with a small neon sign displaying Oro Solido. There is a second entrance on the northwest side of Via 5, just down from the Ramada Conquistador entrance. The layout of this area is very unusual with the vias and rutas forming a crisscross pattern over the north-south bound Avenidas 6 and 7.



The phone number is 331-4754. Hours are approximately 7pm-3am Monday through Saturday. Supposedly you can knock at the door of some of these clubs when they are closed and they may let you in if any of the ladies want to work. I never did this, so I cannot confirm if such is the case here, but I doubt it at Oro Solido specifically.

You'll be patted down before being allowed to enter.

If you come in the Avenida 6 entrance, you'll enter up some winding stairs until you reach the door. From the door, you'll see the main stage in front of you and a little to the right with a second stage directly above. A third stage lies to your left around the corner. The bar will also be in front of you to the left of the stage with the restrooms to the left of the bar. An obscured path between the bar and stage leads to the second entrance/exit.

I believe Oro Solido (Solid Gold) is primarily a strip club, without short-time rooms on site. I didn't ask to confirm, but I looked all around the club and couldn't find anything that looked like short-time rooms. In my two visits, I was unimpressed with the selection of ladies. On my first night, a lady that approached was acceptable and asked to join me for a drink. I usually assumed reasonable prices and would buy them, but in this case I asked about the price to get an outrageous quote of 150Q...$19 US. (Two other places with this price, Elite and Samba) I declined the drink offer to which the lady mentioned that she could get a drink for 100Q or 70Q. I'm not sure how that price structure worked out, but at this point I was only interested in leaving.

The entrance by Avenida 6 appears really run down and there is an unused lot nearby that looks like it could be used by bums or potential hiding spots for muggers. On my second night I found the Via 5 entrance which appears to be much safer if you walk here or away. It's probably best to catch a cab ride to and from this club as the area appears more dangerous than other parts of the city.

Pros: Nice stages and decor. Closest club to Ramada Conquistador.
Cons: No short-time (unconfirmed). High drink prices. Avenida 6 entrance looks dangerous.
