Has anybody cheched out the action in Alajela, Heredia, or puntarenas? If so, lets here it!
These are large cities and i bet got cheaper action than San Jose.

I live in Alajuela, so I'm pretty familiar with the situation here. There are two "nightclubs", both of which are rip-offs in my opinion, Fantasia and Hotters. I don't recommend either of them. There are no hooker bars, although it is possible to pick women up in some of the bars here. There's some street action on the weekends but it's mostly transvestites. There are plenty of girls available privately but you have to know someone in order to find them.

The situation is similar in Heredia. You won't find any clubs or hooker bars there. As in Alajuela, the girls go into San Jose. Again, there are girls available privately but you have to know how to find them.

The action in the Central Valley is mostly centered around San Jose. I'm told there is some good action in Cartago (brothels and bars) but have never checked it out. These are all Tico places. I doubt you would find much on your own. You need a knowledgeable local guide once you get out of the central San Jose area.

Puntarenas is a rathole. There are plenty of girls available, but who cares. There isn't much reason to go to Puntarenas except to catch the ferry to Nicoya Peninsula. There is one Gringo bar there that has a reputation as a meeting place. I've forgotten the name, but if I find it I'll post it here.

Don't expect to find cheaper prices in other cities. It's possible you will but just as likely you'll pay more because of limited availability.

Once you become more familiar with Costa Rica, learn a little Spanish, and begin making local friends here, you'll find opportunities to meet women that aren't available to short-term visitors.

However, if you are here for a week or two and want to make the most of your visit, don't try to pioneer new territory looking for women unless you have an experienced Tico guide. You'll be disappointed. Most of the action is in San Jose.

I was in Alajuela on Sunday night. A cabbie took me to Fantasia. It was open but no girls were working. The format looked promising though- stage, table dances, private dances, and upstairs rooms. Went by Key West and Hotters also but both closed. I was told that these clubs are usually full of chicas. Just my luck they don't work on Sundays... haha

I spent a day in Jaco. The action was bad. All working girls were old. I went to the only stripclub in Jaco. Club Hollywood is overpriced. Girls are 5's and a few 6's. Don't waste your time here if you are looking for action. Stay in San Jose. If you surf or want to fish, Jaco is a good time

Alajuela prices are much less expensive, averaging 10,000 colones. For Spanish speakers only, Bar Jupiter opens at 2pm and is safe during daylight hours. Bar Central is for after 10pm - take a cab.
