I'm not sure how profitable an investment it would be, but the fringe benefits should be terrific. A few weeks ago I was chatting with the manager while waiting in the lobby for a friend. during the hour or so I was there, he had six new girls walk in off the street looking for work (a couple were real lookers, too). I have used the services of a nearby massage parlor that I highly recommend. It is the Arte Sauna and is located just a few of blocks from the center of town at 9st. Between Ave 2nd and 4th Chelles 175 m. south. There is usually 5-15 girls working during the day which is the time I recommend going as they are not so busy and there are more choices. This is my favorite first stop. I usually fly out of JFK on the 6:00am direct flight, so I am usually a little stiff, sleepy and cranky once I land in SJ. Getting up at 4:00am is a lot harder for me than falling asleep at 4:30....

The place is in need of a facelift. Oddly, I first went there when I heard it was for sale - (Hi Mom, Guess what? I own a Central American whorehouse!) At noon, there are about 7 or 8 girls, mostly a little older - 25 to 35. They sit along a wall and they will smile and make eye contact looking for your business, but no "pre-game warmup" like I hear they do in the Brazil termas.

The great news is they really DO give you a nice massage. $30 for an hour, $40 for the "happy ending". The massage is really why I go... I always feel odd about asking a girl in my hotel room to get some oil and give me a sturdy rub down... but at a massage parlor, well, it's a little more "natural".

So anyhow. They do have a steam room..."Al Vapour" I think they call it... You need to be brave to use it, IMHO. It smells a little like an armpit. I personally have spent a few minutes in there, didnt catch anything, but washed down WELL afterward.

The showers there suck, (whoever invented those little showerhead water heaters should be shot) but good enough to get the cheese off of you.

As I reread this, I have to admit, I am not selling it very well. But over all, it's something I look forward to. A great way to start a weekender in SJ. No pressure, cheap, relaxing, and invigorating all at the same time. I give it a 7 of 10.

Uh...hate to tell you but...Arte Sauna was closed down last summer. But do not despair, there are plenty of other bargain fun places that offer a great time.
