Hotel California is a reasonably priced hotel for the low budget monger. $25 per night, or $20 per night if you stay more than 2 nights. Chica friendly.

Room are basic, but clean. All marble floor, bathroom with hot shower, clean towels. Beds are queen-size, thick foam filled matress on a wooden pedestal...clean sheets. Rooms come with in window A/C (standard in Panama), telephone, cable TV with English CNN, saftey deposit box at receptionist desk, closet and dresser, daily maid service.

The hotel is conveniently located on Via Espana. The hotel has an attached restaurant...food is pretty good and reasonably priced...room service is available. Within the restaurant is also a bar serving beer and liquor.

A pay telephone is in the lobby near the elevator...nice and quiet and a cheap way to call your chicas if you purchase a pre-paid calling card at any super market. (Most talent have cell phones and all Panama hotels charge nearly $1.00 a minute to call cell phones from your hotel room...pre-paid calling card is somethng like $.10-.20 per minute to call a cell phone). Hotel also has 24-hour armed guards.

There is also internet access available on a single computer in the lobby. If I recall correctly there is a fee to use it.

One of the most important requirements I have is the need for ice-cold a/c.

I stayed at Hotel California numerous times. Only one-time did an a/c crap-out, but the maintenance man was there in a flash and swapped the unit that went bad with a good one from the next room. The next day he rebuilt the bad a/c unit and had it running like a champ.

I'm impressed with this hotel. For the price and location...$25 for a night or $22 per night if you stay 2 or more nights is a super deal.

A little advice...always ask for a top floor room, preferrably towards the back of the hotel...nice and quiet. Also, note the picture above...the rooms should look like this. However, if you are a new guy staying there the first-time...the person working the counter might try to give you the mini-room...in otherwords, if you have to step across the corner of the bed to get in the room...they gave you the small room. If they do this, complain...tell them you saw pictures and you know they have bigger rooms for the same price.

Remember, in Panama...always ask to see if there is something a little better otherwise they will assume you are happy.

By the way, if you work your way to the roof, they have an open balcony with small pool...usually nice and private up there. They have a work-out room up there too...but nothing of real quality...I usually spend a few extra bucks and go to a professional gymnasium.

Hotel California raised their rates to $33 per night...but many hotels in Panama have raised their rates.

I am convinced that Hotel California is the best cheap hotel for quality and price in Panama City compared to other similar hotels.

I was in PC 5-19 June 08...I made Hotel California my primary sleep hotel this entire trip. I did not take a single woman to this hotel. Instead, I took all of the chicas to other hotels to fuck (shortime 2-4 hours for $10-$20).

I noted at many other hotels that charge as much or more than Hotel California the a/c, hot water or cable TV was unreliable or weak.

For the cheap hotel category, I highly recommend Hotel California over Hotel Marparaiso (second best choice), Hotel Aculpulco, (third best choice), Hotel Covadonga (fourth best choice), Hotel Lisboa (fifth best choice).
