Since my last post generated such an unexpected positive response, I thought I'd ask about clothes.
I'm kind of an LL Bean guy. (Chinos and polo shirts.) It sounds like
Panama City is a bit more "dress up" type scene.
Any suggestions on dressing would be really appreciated. Flames are OK too. Let's here from all quarters!

Mark,
LL Bean fashion will be perfect for Panama. It is not a dress up type of country they just don't wear shorts or baseball caps. Stay AWAY from shorts and baseball caps and you'll do fine.

Mark -
Hard2no is correct, but I've been seeing more and more Panamanians wearing baseball caps and (mid-length) shorts out in public lately. I guess it depends upon where you are and what you are doing.
I'd think if you are shopping at Central Ave or Los Pueblos in the AM or early afternoon (especially when it is real humid), mid-length shorts and baseball cap may be okay. If you are hitting a massage parlor in the afternoon...again, nobody is going to give you a hard-time if you are wearing shorts and a baseball cap.
But if you are dining at a restaurant and visiting the disco clubs, or casinos in the evening...a nice pair of blue jeans, or dockers and a Polo or button shirt would be more appropriate.
If you always dress nice casual, you'll always fit in. But when I hit a massage parlor in the hot afternoon I usually end-up sweating my ass off. That's when it is baseball cap, shorts an t-shirt for me...I've never had anyone object or even give me a funny look.

AlecJamer,
Thanks for that extra. I never like to live in a vacuum and think that there is only one way of doing things. I'm going to pack a pair of shorts on my next trip in less than 2 weeks and give it a try. I hope I don't get any stares.
