Fella's, I presently have a trip reserved to RIO from November 12-19, 2005. I have been thinking about including a CR leg in there whereby I would spend 3 days in CR before I go to Rio, and 4 days in CR after Rio. However, I can't seem to find a round trip flight directly from CR to Rio without having to first fly back into the US and spend several wasted hours for a layover. Does anyone have any info on how and what airline I can use to allow me to fly RT directly from CR to Rio? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

One, after Rio, most guys don't venture back much to CR. Second, as far as your travel, you should stick to the LA airlines. TACA, Copa, the Brasilian carriers Varig and TAM, that sort of thing.

On my trip this month, I went from Central America back to Miami and then on to Rio. Not the worst connection, kind of a pain to have to go through US customs just to wait on a connection, but it is what it is.

My recommendation is to not even worry about CR and spend the whole time in Rio. Have you been before?

COPA flys to both San Jose, Costa Rica and Sao Palo, Brazil with a stop over in Panama.

If I were you I would think of going this route with a day or two stop in Panama, Panama to sample some Columbian imports.

Gentlemen, I was in Rio last February for Carnaval and, yea, it is a hell of a place. I had a wild time, although I also had a couple of unpleasant incidences, one involving a whore and the military police.

I enjoy traveling to a number of different locations for two reasons: 1) I simply enjoy exploring new places and 2,) like with anything else, I believe too much of even a good thing starts to become routine and I like to always keep things fresh. Too many of the same women in one location would probably make me feel like I'm in a marriage and I'm screwing the same old piece of ass. Also, I live in the Northeast US and the flight from Newark to Sao Paulo is grueling, so my thought was to break it up with a side trip to a location I've not yet been to but have heard so much about.

In any event, I want to thank all of you for your advice and input as it, along with the advice of others, has helped me to make a quick decision. I think I'm going to forego CR as a part of my Rio trip, and do a mid-July trip to BB's in Puerto Plata, which I've heard is great as well. At some point I do still want to do a trip to CR just to go, and might, in fact, do it in December instead. If that's okay with the Rio guys! just a light jab fellas. Good point, Prowler1. I'm probably a quintessential "Rio Guy" but I head to CR for other pasttimes: surfing, fishing, and such. I will say that I've almost (not quite, but almost) given up on the sex scene in CR. During my last vacation there I didn't session once. It is a change, but I find most of the usual venues in places like San Jose somewhat depressing. But the surfing is awesome along both coasts.

Bwana, I travel for one thing, and one thing only. Like I tell my friends and co-workers, don't expect vacation pictures of the mountains, the shore, statues, or museums. I spend my days resting and recuperating, and my nights partying and mongering.

I have never made it a point to get to CR because of so much of what I've seen on t.v., in terms of the crackdown on under age prostitution in CR. And, although I'm not into under age girls, I figure it would inevitably have some trickling effect on even the more acceptable activities. However, I've been reading so much on this and another site, I thought it might be worth the effort.

In any event, it certainly doesn't put a damper on things. There are obviously enough places in the world where I can still make a pig of myself without wearing out my stay in any one place. Thanks.
