Anyone have any airline/flight advice for taking a side trip directly from CR to Colombia.
I could only find Taca flights but those are only to BOG. Anyone know of any direct flights from SJO to MDE, CTG, etc.
just trying to find some options for a side trip.
thanks!!

I only know of west.com.co that flies direct to MDE from SJO. This is a small outfit and their webiste usually has some bugs, so be prepared to call them (Spanish only).
I used COPA AIR (copaair.com) from SJO-PANAMA City to CTG or MDE. The connection to CTG-MDE is not very convenient, so you can also try West.com.co. Also check out Aires.com to CTG.

thanks for the tip. you're right, the west.com.co site is flawed. I saw the Copa flight and was thinking about taking that on SJO-MDE because I'm familiar with Copa. what is inconvenient about the Panama connection? too long or is switching planes a hassle??

Ah, should've been more clear, I was thinking of the bad connection to MDE from LA-PTY-MDE. From SJO, either MDE or CTG are decent layovers. The Copa Panama connection to CTG is 4 hours I recall and even shorter on the way back. You should get in to CTg around 3:30 p.m. Overall COPA is a good, efficient airline plus the ease of using their website. You also get CO miles, and there is also a high probability that you will get a free upgrade if you're a OnePass elite.
