This place is pretty clean you pay 500 colones to get in ( about $1.50) and get a ticket for a free beer. Once inside you sit at the bar and behind you sit as many as 10-12 girls that are available for a price of 6,000 colones ( about $17.00). You pick one and go to a room that is relatively clean for a half hour. None of the girls hustle you there so if you don't find anything you like you can just have your beer and leave. Girls range from 5 to 8. Some girls will agree to go to your hotel if you ask and negotiate. Most of the girls are attractive and will perform nicely.

From what I have heard Brazil is better. There is the Del Rey and Key Largo that are the most popular places for us gringos. However, the girls all start out asking for a $100. and some will come down to $40-60. others won't. There are other places to go ( Idem ) which I heard is good but I have never gone there. Price is about $40.00. I go to the Tico places and they run
about $17-20. I have not gone to the beaches because I heard the action is limited and much more expensive. We should exchange notes on Brazil and Costa Rica. I am interested in finding out more about Brazil.

My plan was to go all the way to 747, a place I was already familiar with, and work my way back. However, after walking past Jocelyn on Avenida 7, I paused for a few minutes and then decided to go in. The cover to get in was about 500 colones, maybe 550, a little over $1 US. I paid the guy, then walked down the short hall and around a corner to the right into a bar.

Only three ladies were present, one was working behind the bar. The bartender was very skinny, but fair looking. An overweight Tica sat in one of the seats along the wall across from the bar. A pretty Tica sat smoking at a table near the entrance. The bartender was friends with the pretty Tica and joined her after serving me a beer. I sat for a while pondering my options. Although pretty, the Tica I was interested in didn't seem particularly interested in working, but then again the price was only 6500 colones, roughly $17 US.

I decided I couldn't really pass up a pretty Tica for $17, so I invited her over. She introduced herself as Michelle. After a short conversation, I agreed to take her back to one of the rooms. I had to pay the fee directly to the bartender who wrote up a small ticket. Michelle and I walked into another hall and into one of the rooms.

The room was rather bland, a step down from the rooms at Idem. Besides the bed, we had a chair and a lamp. The room was also relatively hot. I knew not to expect much with the rooms at the price I was paying.

Michelle was fun, but not very passionate. I could have shot with her, but decided to save the bullet and continue the tour. I explained that it was too hot in the room and I didn't want to have any more sex. We had some friendly chat for a little while longer before getting dressed. I gave her a hug and peck on the cheek and left the room and the brothel.

Damn dude, you paid $17 bucks for this chica....very pretty face. That's it, I am going to forego an Asia trip and try to get my ass here as soon as possible. My first step was buying a travel guide today...a small step but that's how I warm up to finally buy the ticket.

CR can't compare to Rio ! Depending on where you are flying out of, the only good thing with CR is the shorter flight. The girls are hotter, more passionate and less $$$ in Rio. Plus, you have the beach, the cafes, and the Termas. San Jose is basically a nasty city. Screwing and gambling only, unless you plan on taking those ALL F#ck%$g day tours to swing from the trees in the rainforest. Whoooopie ! Contact me via e-mail if needing more specific info.

There is a sign on top of the building with both the word 'Muses' and a silouette of a girl. You'd be hard pressed to miss it.

This brothel occupies the site that formerly housed Jocelyn's.

Where Jocelyn fancied itself as a club (albeit only open in the dayime), with a cover charge, a bar and music playing, in its current incarnation, Muses has done away with the bar, music and cover.

You ring the door bell (the door is on the right of the building; the old entrance was on the left. You enter in to what was the bar area and is now your standard San Jose waiting room. About 10 cicas are sitting in a 3/4 circle, and seemed pleased to see you come in, but not really all that excited. You can sit in the circle and stare, or just pick one and head to the back room. Depending on how good your Spanish is, you can probably interview the girls a little, if you want. The was no English spoken here during my visit.

You proceed with your girls to the room area. This is unchanged from the old days, and the rooms are designed to look like a row of houses on a residential street. You've got a sidewalk and everything.

When you get to the room, you pay the girl in advance (7,000 half hour/11,000 for the full hour -- $14 or $22), she goes and brings the money somewhere, returns and gives you more than your money's worth for the time selected.

I received absolutely no hustle for an additional propina, got a quick peck on the cheek, and was sent on my merry way. During the hour that I was there, I heard the front doorbell ring four or five times, so they seem to get some traffic.

I neglected to ask what their operating hours were -- sorry.
