This is a general update on my last foray into the gulch:
My umpteenth visit: been going down for over 3 years. I own a beach house on Playa Bejuco south of Jaco but I never hit the BB anymore.
This trip I did a fin de semana after a week at the beach.
SL was booked full...always is. I always go in there for the ambiance and the laid back atmosphere, comraderie, sports TV (go Noles) and the chicas (trip before last I got an afternoon BBBJ for $40 + $20 for the room). sweet.
Ended up staying at the Morazon. It is my preferred location and offers a "safe" walk from KL at night, the walk from BM is becoming hazardous (beggars) and I even read about a mugging recently.
BM was typical...found a perfect 10 20yo columbiana but she was "$$1st, no besos, quick to depart". But hey, a perfect 10.
KL was moderately active...I ended up with an older/wiser Tica. She had the most perfect straight long black cabello, down to her waist. Great attitude, full energy enjoyment. Might have to revisit her.
Prices did not seem to have gone up this year. The cien$$ is still the benchmark and negocio is negocio.

SJO = San Jose Costa Rica. The others are both areas there and Clubs (BM=Blue Marlin which is their version of Help-also ground zero)

Uppercase three letter codes usually refer to Airport codes, the same ones used on airline and travel booking websites. As correctly mentioned, SJO is San Jose Juan Santamaria International in San Jose, Costa Rica.
The gulch is short for "Gringo Gulch", the tourist shopping area centered around the pedestrian walkway of Avenida Central.
Jaco is a nearby town popular for it's beach. BB stand for Beatle Bar, a place for freelancing prostitutes.
SL is short for Sportsmen's Lounge, a newer but popular San Jose hotel that is guest-friendly.
Noles, who knowles?
KL is Key Largo, a freelancer bar in San Jose with a mixed reputation, but probably mostly negative.
BM stands for the Blue Marlin Bar, the most popular and well-known P4P venue in San Jose and often used interchangably with the Hotel Del Rey or DR. The Blue Marlin is actually the bar located inside the Del Rey.
Tica is correctly defined as a Costa Rica native (Tico for men). A similar term often used is Nica for ladies from Nicaragua, though I don't know if they use "Nico" for men.
