Guilty or Innocent? Pandora's Box

Periodically I come across news stories like this one that make me wonder.

The news story doesn't provide any details about the actual ages of the alleged child photos on this guy's computer. But I wonder? Is this guy really a "criminal" scumbag who preys on children who are obviously underage?

Or, are the photos on this guy's laptop photos of young consenting "adults" who's age cannot be immediately verified?

Apparently an investigation is underway to determine if the age of the people depicted on the photos are in deed under 18-years of age...

Can you imagine for an instance, what if they are photos of "untraceable" 18-year-old or older (legal) women?

Though I no way condone child porn...this story is an example of what makes me wonder if the evidence at-hand, is absolutely obvious, or is it borderline questionable?

According to the article, the way the "authorities" targetted this guy was through the use of his personal credit card to subscribe to what has been defined by "authorities" as a known child pornography website. Obviously the site must have been a foreign managed site because if it was US based it would have been shut-down immediately.

Though we all know that CH is in no way affiliated with child porn...there obviously is a potential Pandora's Box for those of us who use our Ccards to subscribe to anything of a sexual nature on-line.

If the authorities are able to target this guy through the use of his credit card...then be able to track him when he travels...who is to say that they will not do the same for those of us who subscribe to legal porn websites, such as CH?

I for one would feel sympathy for this guy if he is a fellow mongerer who legally took photos of young "consenting" adult women and now is being accused of something illegal. Imagine if he is just like those of you who routinely post legal-aged photos on CH?

This guy has been detained, apparently forced to post a $60K bond to secure his release, and must hire an attorney at his own personal expense (unless he is poor...then he gets what's available at the bottom of the barrel). At the very minimum, his name will be forever associated with child porn.

I wonder if it is proven that the photos are of (legal aged) consenting adults, do you think anyone will apologize to him? Do you think the media will post a retraction and vindicate his name? The answer, no doubt, is a resounding "NO".

Here is the article...maybe someone can find better details so we can determine whether the evidence is "obvious" or if this guy was tracked then targetted by Homeland Defense...now forced to prove that the photos he had on his laptop are of consenting adults...

Perhaps food for thought for those of you who routinely post pics on CH...if you are accused of posting underaged pics, how will you be able to "prove" the age of those within the pic?

"We all know that the presence of pubic hair is insufficient evidence of age".

Read on and comment...

“His computer was searched and was found to contain thousands of images of child pornography,” said John Jocher who is prosecuting the case.

He said the images were discovered after Famiglietti used his credit card. “They had information that he had used his credit card to join a known child pornography website.”

Famiglietti is now charged with three counts of child pornography.

Bond was set at $20,000 per count.

Although Famiglietti was in court Wednesday morning, the case officials say is just beginning.

“They’re (authorities) doing a complete forensics analysis of the defendant’s computer.”
