I'm thinking of taking a short solo trip to San Jose next month to celebrate my b day. I have been to the Phils 2 times this year and had a blast because no one bothers me, everything is cheap, and the girls GFE is incredible!
All night service in AC is no more than 30$ US. I am hearing that CR is more pricey, but at least the flight from Vegas will be a lot cheaper....about 500$ US.
For all you CR vets any advice on where to stay? or not...lol, going rates on LT, or any other advice you could give a rookie?
If I like it there I will prob start going about every 3-4 months.
This will help with my withdrawal that I suffer after my Phils adventures

If you want to really hobby for your Bday, do you really want to go to Costa Rica? You'll be disappointed after AC. Colombia is about an hour longer flight. In San Jose, you'll likely be paying at least $80-$100 ST for a hottie (often Colombiana) vs. 1/3 or less of that in Colombia. The p4p scene is relatively small and nothing like the in your face scene in AC. Gals are more mercenery in San Jose IMO with lots of newbie mongers to prey on. LT is not common and I'd imagine you'd pay a hefty premium.
If you go, I like the Presidente Hotel or the Morazon. Cost Rica is a stunning and beutiful country though.

Costa Rica can be done on the cheap, but Merlin's right concerning Colombia. Medellin in particular is one of the pound for pound best places for the mongering dollar. I wouldn't say 1/3, but I might say half...

I am going to CR because I am traveling by myself and looking for a getaway spot to tide me over til my next AC adventure. I am a tad nervous about Columbia. Should I be worried about my safety there?
| By Merlin on Thursday, August 14, 2008 - 06:59 pm: Edit |
I really wouldn't worry too much about safety in Colombia, espec. if you go to CTG. MDE is safe IMO, but Cali might be better when you get more expce. Best proof are the dozens of dudes on this site that have gone many times and have had no problems with safety (apart from petty crime). CR isn't all that safe either as they occassionally have muggings etc in the "gringo gulch" (fav bars area) every so often.
I agree CR can be done cheaply, but Colombia can be done cheaply overall. Plus, several of these cheaper spots in CR have been raided recently (see CR discussion) and I can't seem to find high quality poontang at places other than Blue Marlin and Key Largo bars. Perhaps my bad luck. YMMV. And at these two bars, the Colombians (who are jaded b/c they are there on visas to make quick money) are the sexiest IMO and tend to hold out for alot $$. In MDE and CTG, there are cheaper places and street gals also for more bang for the buck.
Ironically, in Colombia, GFE is very easy to come by, sorta like AC.

Thanks for the advice. I have a friend outside San Jose and I am also thinking of using a service there who takes care of the hotel, air, girls and everything for about 2000 US for 4 days 3 nights. Heck...I spent 2600 US just for the airfare to Manila...lol.
I know it will be a lil different (sticking to less girls) but I'm kinda excited about this trip.
Maybe my next trip will be to Columbia as a tune up to my Jan trip to AC.

A plane ride, three nights in a hotel, some food and a couple of girls a day, for 4 days/3 nights, should cost you no more than $1200-1400, probably less. Why pay $2,000 to some agency? That's a heavy pimp fee to pony up.

Thanks for the advice. I have never dealt with an escort agency so I was a lil skeptical. I guess I will just scout the talent when I get there.
VIP Escorts is another company there I came across and they want 500 for all night with one of their smokin' hot girls. Sounds a bit steep to me. Plus they want the money upfront.

Costa Rica has more scams than Vegas. Your best bet is to follow conventional wisdom. Pimping is very illegal in Costa Rica, and I'd be wary of anyone who wanted money upfront. Even the girls...

I would NEVER take Colombia with a non chalant attitude Violence happens every day in Medellin you just never hear about in Parque lleras and Poblado, lol I know how some will try to argue that random violence happens in ANY large city, well that's true so take it to heart and use your "street smarts" I have at least 2 normal girls one from Castila from from Copacabana who have told me they were robbed at knife or gun point by guys on moto's for their cell phones and/or purses. A couple of months back a couple gringos got robbed for plastic watches and petty cash in plain daylight in front of the Medellin Mansion. Crooks know alot of foreigner stay there and obviously staked out the place. As for the poster that said that CALI is better mongering option than MDE or CTG? No-fing way that will ever happen, CALI is BY FAR the most dangerous and primitive of those 3 destinations. So much unemployment and desperation in Cali still. They cant get anything right there. They are making a mass transit bus service there for 3 years called the MIO but its at a standstill because of budget and labor issues. Cali is still a major Drug hub between Buenaventura which I think just received the dubious honor of the most dangerous city in Colombia.

Sobe, not sure who you are referring to that said Cali is a better option than MDE/CTG. I recommended CTG, and tried to dissuade the dude from going to Cali until he gets "experience" in Colombia. I intended to say that safety is not a concern if you go to CTG. If the post came across that safety is not a concern in all of Colombia, it was not my intent.
MDE does have its crime, but the original poster was comparing CR and MDE, and CR has more than its share of muggings, assaults, carjackings, etc. In CR, almost every bank has guards with shotguns.
We can all agree that any place you go to in Latin/South America (mexico, brazil, panama) a monger would be well advised these days to be especially vigilent.

No, no harm no foul whatsoever Merlin, ALSO i dont know the extent of the OP's spanish capability. It is really so important for the ultimate GFE even WITH P4P and prepagos. It Just makes it all that much better.. That being said with NO or limited spanish ability I would recommend CR, DR, CTG, then MDE with that person staying in a mansion type facility where he can be "babysat" pampered!
| By Azguy on Friday, August 15, 2008 - 10:51 pm: Edit |
I am not saying it cant happen, but I have gone to MDE several times alone for a month at a time and never had a problem walking the streets at 3 am. I dont stay at the mansion, so I dont know about that, but it seems like a pretty mellow neighborhood.
I would say CTG is even safer. Just my experience. AZ

I am not a vet monger by any stretch of the word. But I have learned many valuable things on this board, from safety practices to places to go, where to eat and p4p protocols. I been to Ctg twice and LOVE it there !! The history, the old city, the people (specifically the girls) and the beaches. Never had a problem there. I live in Atl and I want to go to Mde b/c I see a lot of similarities between the two cities, and I can't wait to see the girls there.
Six weeks ago (on a Saturday) at the Bahama Breeze that I like to eat at on Sunday night, there was a 3 gang fight ~40 people. Last Sunday at BB, one of my bartenders tells me she is transferring. Why? She said, I told you what happened here right... I said, yea the gang fight about a month ago. No No she replys. A week ago last night... (meaning 2 weeks ago today) 2 guys were shot right on the front steps of BB, one in cc and the other died right there. She said the damnest thing she saw was, people were lifting the "Caution Police Tape Do Not Cross" walking past the dead body to go inside to eat. Now ain't that some $h!t .... This is 6 miles from Sugarloaf C.C. With all the preconceived notions shared by americans.... I thought this only happened in Colombia.
### No matter where you live, the ugliness of life is right outside your front door.
Positive note : I have enjoyed the contributions of many on this site specifically regarding the destinations of my interests which are Colombia and Peru.

Harddrive,
you need to share some of your Peruvian adventures with us. Several of us alternate between Brasil and Peru on our various trips.
CTG & MDE are next on our list of trips...

CFK, they are going to love you in Colombia with your blue eyes and "blonde" hair. Go get 'em. AZ

Azguy,
now I know most people would say that's a little hysterical, isn't it? But it's definitly understandable. All the attributes make for the sum of the whole, providing an exquisite package overall.
Whoa, did I mess my hair up.
To quote Rod Stewart, " standing in front of the mirror, it's no time to feel inferior".....

CFK,
Sorry but my interest regarding Peru has grown two fold - one from my ever growing love of SA and only ever experiencing Colombia myself and very limited at that, and two hearing great things about Peru from other reporters, ie RTG. I mean his reporting on eating fresh seafood, gambling (something I enjoy also), and screwing (uh yeh). Isn't that the crux of the male ego, eating screwing and gambling. You could substitute anything for gambling (golf) by isn't it a gamble of such.... ?
gotta go and catch up on Sandman's Labor Day event... sadly I am just living vicariously through all your posts right now, so keep on posting !
